Kiboko shakes his massive hippo head at the sight of servants still wearing masks after the Lodge was so comprehensively infiltrated, but keeps silent until Flyn finishes.

"Montrose was not a good man. Good men do not imprison and command phoenixes. But he had the support of Galt's Revolutionary Council. And as you see, it was they who set the Red Raven on the trail of Montrose's killer.

The Raven is not a good man either. But... Kiboko will not call him an enemy today. He is as infected with the Galtan madness as all the rest, but he can best make restitution for his attack upon us by remaining where he is. Until the Mob tries for him again, which Kiboko has no doubt that they will."

Kiboko's laughter subsides, and he becomes serious. "Aric. Kiboko told Zaliex that he would make a window into her cavern so that she may feel the sun on her feathers once more. If you are to remain here, you must do this. Kiboko will return to ensure it has been done. It will be woe for you if agree and then renege.

If you come with us, then Kiboko will return later to make the window for Zaliex. Perhaps, if circumstance warrants it, we shall return and do this together."

"Stop murdering Galtan citizens?" Kiboko repeats, incredulous. "Ha! No-one is better at that than Galtans!" The hippo roars with laughter.

Friend? The blond servant! Alondais!

Kiboko, still in hippo form, ignores the papers for the while and addresses the servant.

"Alondais! It is good to see you. No doubt you do not recognise your friend Kiboko, so presented. It would seem we have prevailed: even the most powerful of rats must fear the talons from above."

He breathes deep as he recovers from his rage. "Why did you care about Montrose?" he asks the Raven. "What was he to you? The man imprisoned a phoenix, hardly a noble act. And you twisted Zaliex to your own ends rather than free her."

Kiboko manages to keep his feelings in check, knowing that the Raven is both indebted to the Pathfinders and unarmed.

Kiboko and Mvumbu advance on the last Gardener before he can do more harm to Kramac.

Kiboko scales the inner wall of the courtyard, his magic serving to hold him in position. He reaches into a secret magic known only to the elite agents of Liberty's Edge, and breaks Aric's bonds!

Shatter SLA, a boon from the Liberty's Edge faction card journal: Bond Breaker - I'll have to check the save DC, but an unattended object doesn't get a save; Kiboko is targeting Aric's rope bonds.

Kiboko also changes Mvumbu's animal focus from Bear to Bull, keeping Tiger.

"Aric! Free yourself! In the name of the Red Raven!"

Kiboko and Mvumbu exit the chapel and push towards the guillotine.

"Flee! Flee, you murderous fools, or face true Justice!" Kiboko bellows at the mob.

Single move for both Kiboko and Mvumbu.

Kiboko activates his ioun stone to Shield himself.

Stupid f@%*ing Galtans he thinks. Stupid, corrupt, murderous f+&&ing Galtans.

He activates his animal focus. Choosing Tiger and Bear.

I got no buffs left, but I do have some Rage and am two large hippos :)

"At least we will have no problems going through those doors, Mvumbu." Kiboko says as he waits for Fendel and Flyn to report back.

Kiboko could benefit from the Ring of Protection +2, and from Bracers of Armour when in hippo form; not needed immediately as Kiboko is currently Mage Armoured. I'd suggest Flyn could wear the Bracers +4. Chime of Opening could be handy, though it's not better than our trap handlers.

"The Raven has discarded his disguise. Perhaps one of us should adopt it? Alas, it is ill-suited to a hippo."

"Zaarah, before we venture further please recharge Kiboko's ioun stone again."

Kiboko will ask this after every encounter that he uses his ioun stone Shield spell.

"Cale murdered three defenceless people merely for being present at our lodge. He offered them no trial. He did not listen to their pleas.

'Blood for Blood' breaks no cycle, but only perpetuates it. Vengeance after bloody vengeance. Is this the Galtan way? Is this what you espouse and uphold?"

Kiboko restrains himself and fights to keep his voice calm, but he feels only disgust for Galt and the Galtans, the most corrupt, most lost of all those who claim to be civilised.

"Zaliex said Montrose was a pathfinder... it is not our way to murder each other."

Kiboko stands, and bows his head.

"There is much truth and wisdom in your words, noble Zaliex. For though Kiboko offered parley on the bridge, it was not before we entered here with force. For such was done to us.

Perhaps only the Red Raven can explain his actions. But we should speak with this woman, Geppa, before we follow."

Another thought occurs to Kiboko. His hippopotamus brow furrowed, he looks upon Zaliex again. "Great Zaliex, the ceiling above us is only rock. If you would see the sun again - even if you cannot truly leave - that rock can be broken, a window made for you. Kiboko would do this, as soon as our present business is concluded. Kiboko cannot say if that will be tomorrow, or ten moons hence, but Kiboko would do this."

"Fendel... is right, Zaarah." Kiboko sighs, and does not get up from his repose on the edge of the chasm.

"If we are better people than either Montrose or the Raven... if we are 'super kind' as you say we are... then we must release Zaliex at once.

No thinking creature of honest intention should call another Master."

Kiboko crawls back to the surface, and slumps down on his belly, his eyes almost closed.

"Great Zaliex... How can you say that the Red Raven is noble?... he and his followers invaded our home... he murdered one of us himself whilst his followers tried to kill the rest... and the elf that we tracked here was personally responsible for the murder of three defenceless servants!

Which we surely will. Although first, if it is in your power Great Zaliex, will you heal our wounds as you healed yourself and Geppa?"

Kiboko looks pointedly at Kramac.

Kiboko remains under the bridge, but slowly makes his way towards the far side. He focuses on his link to Mvumbu, taking comfort in her strength and vigour.

Exhausted halves Kiboko's speed, which means just 10' whilst spider climbing.

If Purple is still up, Kiboko will clamber over the edge adjacent to him (but that will be a double move).

"Seek the enemy, Mvumbu, but do not kill."

push Mvumbu, DC25: 1d20 + 19 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 19 - 2 = 24

Seek is a free command, as Mvumbu knows the trick. I pushed to try to get her to do non-lethal damage when she attacks.

Kiboko, too tired to get there himself, sends Mvumbu after Geppa. But the pain of his injuries distracts him, and he can't be certain that Mvumbu won't try to take her own vengeance.

Too slow, and badly injured, Kiboko takes cover on the underside of the bridge. Or on the side if it's thick enough, just looking to get out of line of sight of the phoenix if possible; relying on spider climb which does let you stick upside down.

Will maintain rage, but not Ferocious Beast, so Mvumbu will now be fatigued.

@Kiboko - I've reduced the damage by 4 points to account for being exhausted. Could you verify that this is correct? Also, is the bleed damage set at 3 points each round now or a new 1d6 each round? I've noted the reduction in Sickened's duration in the tracker (thank you for the reminder!), but since the Exhausting Critical feat doesn't give a duration I think Kiboko's stuck with that until he rests for an hour. Could you verify that as well?

I think that damage adjustment was correct. For variable bleed effects I would roll each round (moot now). I think Exhaustion's indefinite duration isn't affected by Scarred.

As Mvumbu snags the bridge guardian in revenge for his near-maiming Kiboko, Kiboko's own massive jaws close in...

He spits blood, and gasps "We did not come here to kill, but to find the truth!"

Ok, so the plan here is this: Kiboko is still forced to make his attack, but Mvumbu snags the enemy warrior and keeps him in the flank. However, Kiboko is now exhausted and sickened, negating his rage. In those circumstances he chooses not to Power Attack, but retains Combat Expertise, and I use my GM reroll. I'll only use the reroll if the GM agrees that dropping Power Attack is reasonable.

Kiboko, reeling from the swordsman's blow and wondering if he's been cursed with some condition causing his vital organs to move towards enemy weapons, prepares for the worst.

Swift action to change his Animal Focuses to Mouse (evasion) and Tiger (+4 DEX). I'd love Bear too, but I need a chance at passing any Reflex saves whilst sickened and exhausted.

Mvumbu's Entangle will last until right before Kiboko's next turn starts.

ETA: One more thing to note, GM, Kiboko's Scarred class feature (scarred rager barbarian archetype) halves the duration of any exhausted or sickened condition that does not grant a save.

Kiboko follows his companion, avoiding the sleeping bugbear, and bites down on the bridge guardian.

If the enemy still lives then Kiboko uses Snapping Flank. If he has dropped then Kiboko switches Bull Focus to Mouse Focus to gain evasion.

Kiboko gives the signal to attack, and the two great hippos swiftly move to flank the nearest enemy before the foes can properly react.

Usual attack pattern - Kiboko moves into position then waits on Mvumbu to finish her attacks. Whilst Kiboko could make a powerful snapping flank in hippo form it does take his swift action and he's using that this round to change up Kiboko and Mvumbu's Animal Focus, on the assumption that there is adequate light for lowlight vision to suffice to see the targets.

Move, swift to set animal focus to Bull and Tiger for both Mvumbu and Kiboko, standard to ready

Kiboko helps search, looking over the staked vampires and then the rest of the room. He and Mvumbu stomp over the coffins for good measure.

Remove Blindness is on the witch spell list, Quiella, but it doesn't look like Seldanna knows the spell.

Kiboko summons up his rage, and waits for Mvumbu to finish her attacks:

Yup, 31 is the correct CMD for Kiboko currently' Mvumbu's is at 33. Both grappled - however...

As the tentacles close in around Kiboko a talisman around his neck shatters, emitting a white light that envelops the half orc and repulses the tentacles. Lesser Talisman of Freedom, activates 3 rounds of Freedom of Movement; I think this prevents the tentacle damage.

With a glance over his shoulder at Mvumbu, Kiboko sighs and lets his rage ebb - only so that he can focus on a spell. He transforms into a great hippo himself! The spell complete, he bounds towards Mileena!

end rage at start of turn - fatigued until start of next turn. Cast Share Shape as a standard. Cast Strong Jaw on self as swift using Spell Totem. Then 1 move action. Kiboko has Feather Step o ignores difficult terrain, `and Mileena is grappled so does not get an AoO as K passes her.

Kiboko is the green bordered hippo on the map :)

Thanks I could have sworn that there is some polymorph spell for the hunter (so I either on ranger or on druid list) that transforms you into an animal equal to your AC (with some scaling restriction), but I cant seem to find it...

I plan on using this to be two large raging hippos.

This is a hunter/barbarian build, rather than a druid.

So my slayer in a Reign of Winter campaign bit the dust and because he got cocky about being unkillable after the party cleric raised him the last time he died, Torag has refused to raise him again.

As a consequence I have a level 13 fey/elemental crossblooded sorcerer coming into the campaign. With how are GM does starting equipment for new characters at these levels, he has a minor ring of spell storing. My GM thinks this is a good fit for my spell caster but I don't see it.

What could I possibly use this for except to put spell into it and hand it out to party members each day so they could use it. I understand it's a few levels of spells I could put into it for the next day if I don't use all my spells but that seems like fairly limited use. I have a fair number of spell slots and don't think I'll be running out on a regular basis.

I do have the option of selling for half price but am wondering if there are other options to make this more useful for a spontaneous caster. Buying scrolls and putting them into the ring? Seems kinda costly and redundant although it does save on action economy.

Any advice is welcome. Sell? Use for extra slots? Something else?

affect a devil at all. I'm guessing not since devils don't age but I couldn't find an actual source to confirm this.

So what would Eccardian do if he managed to gain control of Westcrown and Aberian fled? What kind of policies would he enact as new mayor if he was allowed to rule by Abrogail?

I see a large tax increase (to help repair some of the damage from his devil army0 that would never quite be enough as it always seemed to find its way to dad's (Mammon's) coffers. Maybe upping the rate of excruciations in an attempt to prevent another rebellion/sedition by would be heroes.

Similarly trying to use the Order of the Rack to reinterpret the events surrounding the former Mayor's rule and subsequent removal of office by a "man of the people." (This one is probably beyond the scope of office)

I had campaign come to an end before the end of book 6 (completed four books but switch the order of Infernal Syndrome and Mother of Flies). So while my players ended the shadow curse Eccardian was left to enact his plan of control of the city. I am now planning picking up a campaign in Westcrown 10 years later (after the Glorious Reclamation) and was wondering if Eccardian managed to survive (went into hiding is my thought) and get reinstated after the Rebellion was put down, what would Westcrown look like?

Sorry if this has been asked and answered and I also feel like this may have been mentioned in one of the books but I was unable to find it in my re-skimming of of the AP.

But what would happen if Barzillai’s heart was stolen from the soul anchor before he died? Would it prevent the transformation? Kill him?

The former would be my inclination while the latter seems unlikely but does anyone else have any thoughts?

So while researching through Planar Adventures and such I wondered what would happen to a person's soul if they had died, were standing inline waiting to be judged and then found a way to be teleported or travel back to the material plane without reuniting with their original body?

Determined travelers who overcome the Boneyard’s systems for preventing accidental egress can also traverse the length of the Spire itself, a massive rock face riddled with yawning archways that lead into spiraling tunnels and staircases.

So what exactly besides maybe the Psychopomps are the systems for preventing accidental egress? And is this a work around to having someone returned back to "life" without the traditional raise dead or resurrection? And what happens to the persons original body if this was to work?

I’m looking for advice on adjusting Eccardian’s build which seems to have a consensus that it may be a little anti climatic and underwhelming.

I liked a suggestion of making him a mesmerist but admittedly know next to nothing of the class or more importantly how to make an effective build of that class. I like the theme of having him being a more subtle manipulative type character and the mesmerist suggestion also has made me think of an enchanter with a dip into rogue or fighter to add something to a final confrontation.

So my question is would the enchanter be as effective or would it be worth it to wrap my head around the mesmerist? And does anyone have a 15~18 build that would fit and would be willing to share?
