"Why, after both of you resorted to exploiting the rules of the duel, do you think he's simply flown off to lick his wounds?" As he speaks, Edward gestures in the direction the fey creature flew off in, "Do you think he'll not return when you're not expecting it to attempt to 'win' your duel?"

If the atomie attempts to kill Lander outside the terms of the duel:
Edward will intercede by attacking the atomie if it attempts to outright kill Lander. If any other parties interfere with the duel: If anyone other than Lander, the atomie, or Edward's party interferes with the duel he will interrupt the duel to prevent further harm to Lander. He really only has one method to do so, by stabbing things, so he'll probably do that.

Edward grumbles, "Of all the stupid..." and draws his sword. "Look, little... critter, if we can handle half a dozen aspiring werewolves and a lycanthrope, do you really think our spellcasters will not incinerate you once all of our strongest warriors are unconscious for their incompetence?" Intimidate? Bluff? They're the same at +2, just wondering which one the GM feels is the right check for the comment.

Turning to look crossly at Lya, Edward quips, "Perhaps next time we don't heal the shapeshifting monster?" Cleaning his blade on a handkerchief, he looks around. "While the others deserve to stand trial for their crimes, I'm inclined to believe the monster..." he emphasizes the word by glaring pointedly at the now-unconscious werewolf, "...should be put down for good."

"Huh. Smarter than I gave her credit for." Ignoring the thumping for a moment, Edward will collect the keys and the note. After reading it, he looks up and pokes his head out of the tent. "Well, I'm going to venture a guess that the lad is in the trunk making all the racket and that this note implicates the blacksmith in throwing him invader the proverbial wagon wheel. Oh, also probably supplying these bandits arms." As he speaks, he holds out the note to his companions.

Edward rolls over, sighs, stands up, sheathes his rapier, and dusts himself off. "Again?" Rummaging around in his pack, he produces a foot-long length of carved wood and holds it out to Lya. "Would you mind, once you're done, closing up the rest of the holes in me?" Looking at his badly rent coat, he continues, "I can fix the jacket and trousers when we get back to town."

Edward circles around to the right of the wolf looking woman, drawing his saber* as he does. Move diagonally three squares (20'), then 5' to the east to avoid an AoO. Strike once with rapier. attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 with a miss chance where > 21 hits: 1d100 ⇒ 82 for damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8. Aldonna attacks me: I will parry and attempt to riposte.
Parry: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

"I recommend we wait to approach until eventing, and do so from the north - we should have the most cover from the center of their camp, where the campfire is, thanks to their tents. We may also be able to use the tents as choke points to funnel the bandits to us in the event they turn violent, prevent them from encircling us and bringing down our Spell casting friends with superior numbers that way, at least for a few seconds."
Male Human (Taldane) Cavalier 4
"He's right, unfortunately. It would be merciless to leave them here to be eaten by the passing rodent of unusual size, and while at the moment I'm inclined to be merciless..." Looking around, Edward's gaze alights on the trees surrounding the group. "Perhaps instead we tie them up in the trees? Off the ground, where the local predators are less inclined to eat them? They should keep fine up there until we can haul them to town for a proper trial. Unless any large cats wander by..."

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 "Just... a brief review, if you will, of everything we know and you've admitted." Not waiting for a reply, Edward barrels on, advancing a step toward Marek and raising his voice slightly with each new point. "One: Lander was learning to use a sword from you. Two: Lander left town two days ago by the southwest road, alone. Three: you admit that Lander was not an accomplished swordsman or woodsman; likely he is not able to defend himself from bandit or beast. Four: you are concerned for his safety, presumably due to the incompetence that constitutes point three. Is that correct? Did I miss any pertinent details you'd like to add?"

Turning away from the window, Edward surveys the blacksmith's living conditions as he speaks. "Did the boy have any leads on the local bandits? Did he say where he would be investigating, or give any hints he might have some evidence of the bandits' preferred haunts?"
Male Human (Taldane) Cavalier 4
"Thank you for the offer of a drink, sir, but no. I'll be fine." Edward walks to the window and looks out, surveying for the southwestern road out of town beyond the pigeon cage. "You say you last saw him leaving town two days ago to fight bandits and monsters - did he travel alone?"
Male Human (Taldane) Cavalier 4
"You say that bandits have been raiding your caravan... is it always in a specific area? Along a specific road or trail, perhaps? Was one hit recently, that the wreckage might still be fresh? Or do you have a caravan leaving soon that might be the next victim?" Turning to include his companions in his field of speech, Edward exposits. "Young Lander thinks himself a brave adventurer, yes? Perhaps the best way to dissuade him of this is to collect him and introduce him to some actual combat, of course while enjoying our protection and in little real danger, while simultaneously dealing with the local riffraff who plague our generous benefactor? A good deed and a young person scared into some semblance of maturity. Two birds, one stone." Pausing to consider, he continues, "Or we discover that the young man has talent with the sword, and he earns a more traditional, structured learning environment to master the craft properly?" Did I get any information with either check? Should I look at the spoilers for Kirin and Lya?
Male Human (Taldane) Cavalier 4
At Anya's statement, Edward raises an eyebrow. "I would hardly call the swordsman's art a, "Fool's craft." The boy might even do well to learn it - military service provides discipline and structure for unruly youths. Also, for future reference, just, 'Edward,' will suffice." Diplomacy to gather information on Lander: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

Edward nods respectfully, acknowledging the task. "We will, of course, make every effort to find him and return him here. Do you know where he has gone? Where he was last seen? Does he have any adventurous associates, perhaps ones that have been a poor influence on him?"
Male Human (Taldane) Cavalier 4
Looking uncomfortable at the familiarity of his fellow Pathfinders, Edward shifts his weight and grunts. "Well, since you all seem to know each other... I am Sir Arthur Edward Lamontaine Harrington." With that, he holds out his hand expectantly. With a sidelong glance at Kirin, he adds, "A pleasure to meet you all, I'm sure." |
