In an upcoming game I am going after my players sanity and I have a few questions about WIS damage.

1. What should WIS damage feel like?

2.If a character breathes in insanity mist do they instantly start making poorer decisions?

3.Does the character notice that they are being effected?

4. At what rate will a WIS score replenish?

(BTW the specific mechanics I am using are Raktavarna venom and Insantiy Mist)

Wow thanks for the advice everyone. I feel much better about offing someone :)

BTW this conversation was raised after a fellow GM gave a character 5 chances to escape certain death with no sign of stopping until he finally succeeded. It became apparent that we were worried about offending the each other if we killed each others characters. I just need to create an epic blaze of glory situation to up our sense of danger.

All of this is actually pretty silly seeing as how we all love creating characters so much we are constantly talking about our alts or our character for the next campaign.

So in the last game session it became very clear that my gaming group is extremely resistant to the idea of killing characters. (Just so you know we are a group of 5 with a rotating DM schedule) I think all of us are very committed to every character we make so the idea of someone killing a character is blasphemous. I find the element of danger really exciting and the idea that we are playing with kid gloves is a little disappointing. I really would like to see someone die but I don't want to be the dick that kills the character that you have lovingly crafted over the past few months.

So my question. Have you ever killed off a character/been killed off and been happy about it?

For any interested party this is what I ended up settling on for my character. I'm still not 100% that everything is kosher with the game world but my whole party is made up of PF virgins so I've decided not to care. Haha. But if anyone sees some easily fixable errors please point them out. XD I hope I don't regret saying that.

Rowan Victarion:

-Sole Survivor
-His Smile is His Mask
-Damaged but Still Good Heart

Rowan Victarion is the sole survivor of his clan. In his youth his entire bloodline was extinguished in one night. It is still unknown why Rowan was not killed but it was a fact that drove him into a deep depression. Rowan spent 7 months in a near comatose state, his entire world had been shattered and his tethers to this plane were all but severed. His soul floated through the dimensions, a passive observer. In the void Rowan came upon a presence, a faint aura that felt unfamiliar but radiated an unknowable peace to the wounds of Rowans heart. In this place Rowan released the anger and pain of his tumultuous past, as he opened himself up he could feel the aura grow stronger pulsing with a new life.

Sylvaine:

-Protector
-Tourist
-Connoisseur of Emotion

Sylvaine does not remember very much about his past. Scents, scenes, flashes of light and emotion is all that serve as his past. His earliest concrete memories involve being nothing more than a withered soul floating through the abyss when he encountered another presence for the first time in his memory. This presence filled his with the raw emotion of life and fueled a rekindling of the spark of life. Sylvaine regained a form of consciousness that had been lost to him for an unknown length. As he explored the new limits of his being he discovered the ability to communicate and he used this newfound gift to converse with the spark of his existence.

Rowan and Sylvaine:

In the abyss a bond was formed. Rowan awoke back at home in his bed but with newfound magical abilities and the companionship of Sylvaine. Over the years Rowan became a fully accomplished summoner, as his skills were honed he became able to bring Sylvaine into the world in more realized ways. Exploration became their sole interest Sylvaine had all the hunger for knowledge of a newborn and wanted only to experience everything his senses could take in.

Rowan is content to indulge Sylvaine because he has no goals for his life. Most of his purpose is derived from his summoning although he seeks more. Although much of the emotion of his past is now the lifeblood of Sylvane the wounds still exist. Because of his refusal to deal with his emotions Rowan has adopted a carefree persona that mirrors the wanderlust of Sylvaine. He will not admit to many of his better qualities, he finds it much easier to be aloof and nonchalant rather than actually deal with a real emotion. His interaction with others is usually short as he has little trust for people and is afraid to actually let himself care about someone. Underneath this mask is a man with a good heart who cares for people and has a sense of justice. While Sylvaine is his confidant there is a limited scope to the relationship between the two. Rowan still yearns for relationship with beings of his own plane to replace the family that was taken from him.

So they both search…

One is filled with a lust for life and looks to take advantage of every second of his rebirth.

Another is a wanderer looking for a place to call home and a family to accept him.

Thanks to you both. The Summoner/Eidolon relationship is definitely a tricky one to nail down and y'all have given me some great direction.

@Nimt
That bit about any god being able to have out this boon is definitely very freeing.

@VRMH
I especially like the idea of the Summoner thinking it's a blessing. Tricky!

So I am attempting to build my first character for PF but I am having a hard time with my characters background. I am building a summoner and I am trying to learn enough background to make my character fit into Golarion rather than just be a generic Archetype. So I am hoping some more seasoned veterans of PF can tell me if my ideas fit the world.

Idea #1) This concept is that he gained his summoning abilities via the blessing of a deity. The basic idea is that his rune is a divine gift that gives him his powers. The problem is I cannot figure out a deity that would be condusive to this idea.The deity needs to be a good or neutral to fit the campaign. Ideas?

Idea #2) I was thinking that my characters eidolon could be a soul that escaped Shelyns Whisperer of Souls. Said soul would be a distant ancestor of my summoner and his release would awaken the latent abilities of my character. Although I don't know if this would conflict with Pharasma or if this kind of thing would happen period. Could be that I am over thinking...

Also if anyone has some good suggestions as to where this character was born or anything like that I would love to be pointed in the direction of some good source. I just hate one dimensional characters and I would love some tips.
