Misery loves company, right. I'd like to know how many people on these boards I'd have to game with if I wanted to play 1E in a year or two.

Blood Sanctuary:
(Su): At 3rd level, due to the power of his blood, a bloodrager can stand confidently amid the effects of spells cast by himself or his allies. He gains a +2 bonus on saving throws against spells that he or an ally casts.

Dominate person:
You can control the actions of any humanoid creature through a telepathic link that you establish with the subject's mind.
If you and the subject have a common language, you can generally force the subject to perform as you desire, within the limits of its abilities. If no common language exists, you can communicate only basic commands, such as "Come here," "Go there," "Fight," and "Stand still." You know what the subject is experiencing, but you do not receive direct sensory input from it, nor can it communicate with you telepathically.
Once you have given a dominated creature a command, it continues to attempt to carry out that command to the exclusion of all other activities except those necessary for day-to-day survival (such as sleeping, eating, and so forth). Because of this limited range of activity, a Sense Motive check against DC 15 (rather than DC 25) can determine that the subject's behavior is being influenced by an enchantment effect (see the Sense Motive skill description).
Changing your orders or giving a dominated creature a new command is a move action.
By concentrating fully on the spell (a standard action), you can receive full sensory input as interpreted by the mind of the subject, though it still can't communicate with you. You can't actually see through the subject's eyes, so it's not as good as being there yourself, but you still get a good idea of what's going on.
Subjects resist this control, and any subject forced to take actions against its nature receives a new saving throw with a +2 bonus. Obviously self-destructive orders are not carried out. Once control is established, the range at which it can be exercised is unlimited, as long as you and the subject are on the same plane. You need not see the subject to control it.
If you don't spend at least 1 round concentrating on the spell each day, the subject receives a new saving throw to throw off the domination.

The party Bloodrager gets dominated and is given the command to slay another party member. The parties cleric, and wizard cast hold person, and color spray upon the Bloodrager. Does the Bloodrager still benefit from the +2 saving throw bonus against those spells cast by his allyes (per the Bloodragers Blood Sanctuary ability) ? I am leaning to yes as the cleric and wizard are still the bloodragers ally, but I want to see how others would rule on this.
Thanks for your input.

I am curious as to how others role play the use of the Commune Spell. Does your GM respond to your characters questions to her deity as if the Deity speaks audibly allowed, or does the deity answer the characters questions within the characters own mind?

The reason I ask, is that I am playing an oracle (Deaf curse). When using this spell my GM is telling me that the Deity answers my commune spell audibly, but because I have the the deaf curse I cannot hear the response. Thoughts?

What kind of action is it for a familiar to communicate via Empathetic Link with its master. is it Free, or standard?

Empathic Link (Su): wrote:
The master has an empathic link with his familiar to a 1 mile distance. The master can communicate empathically with the familiar, but cannot see through its eyes. Because of the link's limited nature, only general emotions can be shared. The master has the same connection to an item or place that his familiar does.

So Im looking to get a familiar through Eldrtich Heritage using the Arcane Bloodline. I have a question about how to calculate the familars attacks using this feat...

Eldrtich Heritage wrote:

Prerequisites: Cha 13, Skill Focus with the class skill of bloodline selected for this feat (see below), character level 3rd.

Benefit: Select one sorcerer bloodline. You must have Skill focus in the class skill that bloodline grants to a sorcerer at 1st level (for example, Heal for the celestial bloodline). This bloodline cannot be a bloodline you already have. You gain the first-level bloodline power for the selected bloodline. For purposes of using that power, treat your sorcerer level as equal to your character level – 2, even if you have levels in sorcerer. You do not gain any of the other bloodline abilities.

For the purposes of calculating a familiars Attacks, saving throws etc. is that at character level -2?

For example, 9th level oracle using Eldrtich Heritage feat to get a familiar would calcuate the familiars attacks as the master base attack bonus at level 7, or 9?

Familiar Bsics, attacks wrote:
ttacks: Use the master's base attack bonus, as calculated from all his classes. Use the familiar's Dexterity or Strength modifier, whichever is greater, to calculate the familiar's melee attack bonus with natural weapons. Damage equals that of a normal creature of the familiar's kind.

Armor of Brawling Quality:

Aura faint transmutation; CL 5th; Weight —; Price +1 Bonus
DESCRIPTION

The wearer of brawling armor gains a +2 bonus on unarmed attack and damage rolls, including combat maneuver checks made to grapple. Her unarmed strikes count as magic weapons for the purpose of bypassing damage reduction. These bonuses do not apply to natural weapons. This special ability does not prevent the wearer's unarmed strikes from provoking attacks of opportunity or make the wearer's unarmed strikes count as armed attacks. The brawling ability can be applied only to light armor.
CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS

Craft Magic Arms and Armor, bull's strength; Cost +1 bonus

Would the +2 bonus from the armor of brawling quality apply to a Brawlers unarmed attack (CMB) to disarm, sunder, and trip?

Thanks in advance.

What is the duration on a monsters Change Shape Ability. Im looking at the Quasit, but it seems that many monsters have this ability as an SQ.

Change Shape (Su):
A creature with this special quality has the ability to assume the appearance of a specific creature or type of creature (usually a humanoid), but retains most of its own physical qualities. A creature cannot change shape to a form more than one size category smaller or larger than its original form. This ability functions as a polymorph spell, the type of which is listed in the creature’s description, but the creature does not adjust its ability scores (although it gains any other abilities of the creature it mimics). Unless otherwise stated, it can remain in an alternate form indefinitely. Some creatures, such as lycanthropes, can transform into unique forms with special modifiers and abilities. These creatures do adjust their ability scores, as noted in their descriptions.

The spell Polymorph has a duration of 1 min/level, so would you just use the duration of the polymorph spell?

I have purchased every Pathfinder Tales novel published, until Lord of Runes.

The reason why I have not purchased the Lord of Runes, and the reason that I probably will cease purchasing these novels new, is the jump in price.

I have always believed that $9.99 was just a bit overpriced for a paperback novel, but not so high as to keep me from buying every novel that hits the shelves.

Now, I see that the price on all novels being released currently, and in the future is $14.99!

Whats the deal with the steep price increase? Does this have something to do with TOR? A shortage of paper?

Once upon a time the world was corrupted by demons who disguised themselves as men. The demons pretended to be kind and caring about the world and the humans who lived upon it. The trusting humans believed the demons subterfuge, and thus elected them to positions of leadership and power.

The demons continued their trickery and used further manipulation to deceive and confuse the humans, causing them to fight amongst themselves. This was a slow process, but once the infighting began, it was all too easy for the demons to erect an intricate system of control whereby most of the humans relying upon the system were enslaved.

In the Pathfinder Campaign Setting, Fey Revisited book, I am uncertain and bothered by my inability to understand the attack bonuses for the sample dryad, Amalya as they are writen...Would anyone please be able to explain the attack bonuses as written for this sample stat block?

Specifically the +5 for the Club, and + 11 for the dagger. It seems like Amalya should be penalized for TWF? Should there not be a TWF penalty included in this attack as written of -4, -8 (off hand weapon is light/no twf feat)?

Thanks in advance to all who attempt to answer.

Wall of Ice:

School evocation [cold]; Level magus 4, sorcerer/wizard 4, summoner 3; Bloodline boreal 4
CASTING

Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S, M (a piece of quartz or rock crystal)
EFFECT

Range medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level)
Effect anchored plane of ice, up to one 10-ft. square/level, or hemisphere of ice with a radius of up to 3 ft. + 1 ft./level
Duration 1 min./level
Saving Throw Reflex negates; see text; Spell Resistance yes

DESCRIPTION

This spell creates an anchored plane of ice or a hemisphere of ice, depending on the version selected. A wall of ice cannot form in an area occupied by physical objects or creatures. Its surface must be smooth and unbroken when created. Any creature adjacent to the wall when it is created may attempt a Reflex save to disrupt the wall as it is being formed. A successful save indicates that the spell automatically fails. Fire can melt a wall of ice, and it deals full damage to the wall (instead of the normal half damage taken by objects). Suddenly melting a wall of ice creates a great cloud of steamy fog that lasts for 10 minutes.

Ice Plane: A sheet of strong, hard ice appears. The wall is 1 inch thick per caster level. It covers up to a 10-foot-square area per caster level (so a 10th-level wizard can create a wall of ice 100 feet long and 10 feet high, a wall 50 feet long and 20 feet high, or any other combination of length and height that does not exceed 1,000 square feet). The plane can be oriented in any fashion as long as it is anchored. A vertical wall need only be anchored on the floor, while a horizontal or slanting wall must be anchored on two opposite sides.

Each 10-foot square of wall has 3 hit points per inch of thickness. Creatures can hit the wall automatically. A section of wall whose hit points drop to 0 is breached. If a creature tries to break through the wall with a single attack, the DC for the Strength check is 15 + caster level.

Even when the ice has been broken through, a sheet of frigid air remains. Any creature stepping through it (including the one who broke through the wall) takes 1d6 points of cold damage + 1 point per caster level (no save).

Hemisphere: The wall takes the form of a hemisphere whose maximum radius is 3 feet + 1 foot per caster level. The hemisphere is as hard to break through as the ice plane form, but it does not deal damage to those who go through a breach.

What is the DC to disrupt the wall when it is forming? Says Reflex negates, but what is the DC?

Does a cleric who takes the Souleater prestige class continue to get the additional domain spell slot as he/she advances in Souleater levels?

Thanks on advance to anyone who can help.

Male Human Fighter 4/Rouge 2

The current occupants of White Keep slowly filter into one of the ancient castles numerous and chillingly cold common rooms.

Twenty and one they number, and only half that fit enough to hunt, gather and provide for the group.

With supplies dwindling, and members of the group dying off weekly it was palpable that Derth Lovthorn had called the meeting to see who would volunteer to quest again for supplies and survivors.

The human, Derth Lovthorn, White Keeps current Lord Stands before the group; his brutish comrade, Groll, whom Derth claims as a brother, stands silently beside the man.

You don’t know Derth that well, hell, you don’t really know anyone that well because its simply been to hard to get to know who anyone really is with all that has occurred. More than that, it seems as if all of the members of the group, with the expectation of Derth, his brother, yourself and a handful of others have been in a perpetual state of shock since coming to White Keep.

Derth pipes up, “Alright everyone, all of us are almost here. I want to wait until the others show up before we get started with this meeting.”

Derth turns to Groll and begins conversing in hushed tones.

Once I have okayed your character you are free to post in game, go ahead and start flexing your RP muscles.

Let the OoC continue...

There was a time when living wasn’t so hard, a time before the dead walked the earth and outnumbered the living. A new dark age has befallen mankind, an age in which the dead stalk the earth and wage war upon the living, and the living are losing.

Before the plague, the undead were more than myth, yet the dead lay buried in their tombs or cairn, unlike today. Now, once interred the dead will not rest for long, a sealed tomb or grave is naught to be found on the planet.

Although scholars, sages and high priests hold differing opinions upon the cause or causes of the plague, only one thing is certain, humanity is gasping for life as the darkness overwhelms the light. How the plague began is yet unknown and the cause is a mystery.

Join the last vestiges of humanity and struggle to survive the scourge.

Allowable classes, Races: Any Paizo – No 3rd party
Level 1
15 pt. buy
Starting wealth: Average per class
Advancement: Fast
Setting: loosely based off of Golarion

Did I miss anything?
Any questions let me know, otherwise please post interest and character concept.

Ive run several PBP games on other sites, but would like to run a game or two on the Paizo boards as well.

Can any GM's running a pbp game on the Paizo boards please tell me how to set up the tabs at the top of your thread (Campaign info, Gameplay, Discussion, recruitment, players, characters tabs)?

Are these tabs that are set up by a moderator or something?

Is there a FAQ for GM-ing PBP games here, im not having much luck finding anything with the search.

How many spells can be scribed to a single scroll, anybody know? I can't seem to find the answer anywhere on the PFSrd or in any any book.

Does the dwarfs hatred of orc racial bonus stack with the
rangers' favored enemy bonus if Orc also selected?

Thanks in advance.

Assuming the target were dazed, flat-footed, paralyzed, staggered, stunned, or unconsciousness, Flurry of blows would stack with Medusas Wrath, correct?

Medussas Wrath wrote:

Benefit: Whenever you use the full-attack action and make at least one unarmed strike, you can make two additional unarmed strikes at your highest base attack bonus. These bonus attacks must be made against a dazed, flat-footed, paralyzed, staggered, stunned, or unconscious foe.

so for example if you were at 14th level, flurry for 5 attacks (+12/+12/+7/+7/+2) and you would get two more unarmed strikes at +7/+7

Can a Summoner learn new spells from scrolls? Do any GM's allow it assuming one takes the scribe scroll feat?

Thanks for the advice in advance.

A small sized PC, using a Medium sized light simple weapon, in this case a a dagger (assuming he/she is proficient in such weapon) would incur a -2 attack penalty for size difference, correct?

Inappropriately Sized Weapons: A creature can't make optimum use of a weapon that isn't properly sized for it. A cumulative –2 penalty applies on attack rolls for each size category of difference between the size of its intended wielder and the size of its actual wielder.
