With a grimace and shake of her head, 0nyx tells the rest "No help from me, but I might know a few guys in Brightburn. Maybe. But we should clear this place, get back to Jay's safehouse and talk it over."

0nyx nods acknowledgment at Figment while she pulls out her phone to look at the incoming video highlights.

"They can't all be poser noobs, though, because some of the traces they left were pretty sophisticated."

She reviews the video for any familiar faces.

All I have is Seattle Ork Underground, so she'll look for anyone she's seen down there.

As the team moves towards the improvised door, 0nyx nods to them. "0nyx. Can't kill everyone all the time, I guess." She nods again in acknowledgement of the ork's last remark. "Right. Nice to not meet you."

A few seconds after the preceding group leaves, 0nyx moves to the opening and watches to be certain they keep moving. She nods agreement to Figment's words. "Same goes on the other side. I'll whistle up a lookout."

Not sure if I can do this, but trying to find if this creation has the same astral signature as the one on the gold coins in the apartment. Also, is it a simple watcher or something else?

Going with Figment to find a safe place to plug in, then return to the safe house and examine the fetishes, if I can do it before the evening meeting. 0nyx can use fetishes, right? I see them on shaman gear lists, but the books say "the magician" can use them. Would they be loaded with a spell already?

"I'm not much for brawn, but I can go with you. Might want some muscle, though." 0nyx looks queryingly at the more robust gentlemen in the room.

"We need to work on Mr. Johnson's request today, though I do want some time to peek at the two foci left by the shaman. As far as the mission goes, we didn't get the statue, coin, or all the creds, and we left a sizeable stash of weapons hidden there. I'd guess the hit was deliberate, based on the beeline Figment said they made for the big stash, but we don't know who did it." 0nyx pauses to think for a moment.

"If we recover the remaining weps, we get the full 25% value of recovered armory. We need a place to stash them - here, Jay? We got one of the cred sticks and some scrip, at least, though some are doubtless gone. We need to stash those, as well. Figment got video. I've got an impression of the shaman's signature, as well as the real signature of the statue, as well as the one of the coins. We've got those things going for us. But most of that doesn't earn us anything. We've got to get the coins and statue - those are our paycheck."

"I vote we take a look at the vid Figment recovered, see if anyone looks familiar. Then we return to the armory today and recover it, bringing it here to secure, if Jay's good with that. We're meeting the Chrome Domes tonight, so we can get any info they have. Maybe they'll know some of the bad guys. We weren't required to hit them, just identify them, but we'll need to meet them personally to recover the important stuff and get the full fee. Also, if these were runners, Johnson probably wants to know who's behind it, not who the runners were."

Surveying the rest of the team, 0nyx shrugs. "I'm out of ideas, besides that. Any others? I mean, other than working out?" She grins at Danny.

"They live," 0nyx tells the others. "Stretch'll be there tonight for a meet, sunsetish. Wouldn't mind debriefing with him. If we've been exposed and made Triad enemies, might as well get info on them."

Once the various precautions with the little burner are set up, 0nyx checks for any new texts, then hits up Stretch's number with a single word.

"alive?"

"Nah, just a text or two, see what's on the other end. Can you tech magic the call, Figment? Or do you still want it outside, Jay? Your place, your rules." 0nyx holds the burner between thumb and finger like the tail of a rat.

Gotta go back and review the beginning before making more intelligent posts.

Peering at the burner phone, 0nyx waves in Figment's direction. "Hey. Tech Boy. Should we remove this thing from here before turning it on again? I used it last night to text Stretch."

A tall, lean figure emerges from the bedroom, mumbles something, and ducks into the bathroom. There's a thud and more emphatic mumbling, then the water pipes jolt as the shower starts. In just a minute, 0nyx emerges from the bathroom, smoothing her clothing.

"I hate putting used clothing on a clean me, she grumbles. She sniffs appreciatively and peeks in the pan Jay is managing, then backs out of Jay's way.

"Wonder how the Skulls did last night. Hope their confidence wasn't bravado, and they survived after we took out Drone Command. I'd hate to think we risked pissing off the Triad without having any favors to show for it. And this should be a damned big marker to call, seeing as how it was their survival at stake."

"OK with everyone if I take the bedroom? I'm beat after all that action. Watching you guys was exhausting." She yawns hugely, winks, and slips into the bedroom, closing the door behind her.

I read Drain Level without grokking what it really was. OK, going with Deadly, since we really don't need him in the picture. So the Drain Level is Deadly, and I don't see any Drain Modifiers that apply.

Sorcery pool is 6, skill is 6? I thought I was supposed to roll all of them if I didn't want any in reserve.

Exploding: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Drain resistance, Target 5/2=2, Light: 6d6 + 6d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 6, 2, 1, 5) + (3, 6, 2, 6, 5, 3) = 44
Every 2 successes lowers the Drain Level by 1. Drain lowered by 5, so no drain. NOW I roll better than 1s.

GM:
Please let me know if I did anything wrong and I'll fix it. I went through the spellcasting process exhaustively, but that doesn't mean it's right. :)

Now that 0nyx has LOS to one of the bad guys, can she come out of delay and cast a spell? I specified when she gets roof access, but don't know if that condition "sticks" in Shadowrun, or if I can act anytime.

Coupla questions, oh kind and patient GM:

If we delay within an initiative pass, we still only get the number of combat phases we rolled. So I have one combat phase this pass, and if I delay now, I don't get an action until the next initiative pass?

If I use the Sight, can I see through buildings?

And I found a section in the elementals control that said once elementals are ordered to materialize, they take 2 initiative passes to do so. Is that correct? Seems like elementals are better saved for long battles, then.

Can I command materialized elementals to attack people I can't physically see if I am using the Sight?

I really did look this stuff up, most is just confirmation I read or interpreted the rules correctly. It's confusing when the area talking about commanding elementals to materialize is separate from the section talking about how long it takes for them to do so.

It looks like your walking movement rate is your Quickness in meters, p. 108. I can't tell if there is a penalty for climbing, though.

"Just me," she whispers softly in response to Jay. "And I'd need to leave my body behind. Easy enough, but you guys gotta take care of my body." She gives Jay a level look. "No laughing. No exploring."

0nyx nods. "That's what I worried about. Triads are just another corp. When a corp takes over, they absorb the best and squeeze out the rest. No space for small players like us to operate. Skulls are the champions of the little guy here." She quirks a smile. "OK, that might be secondary to their survival. Still, symbolism is important, right?"

0nyx half-shrugs. "Maybe. With luck, it won't be too bad for us. We just need to do good enough work to get a good rep for the side we chose... and have them survive. And try not to be loud enought to set the other guys against us." She sighs. "Hope we picked the right side. Underdogs are romantic and all, but they're sucker bets."

"Eyes, follow Raptor and let him know if anyone is threatening or watching him that you can see. Ignore us in that command; we'll be watching for him. And whisper to him, don't get loud. If he is captured or injured, return to me at once." She gestures in Raptor's direction and gives her brother a nod.
