Event organized by Paizo Event utilizes official Pathfinder content Roleplaying Guild

Season 0 Reborn

Friday afternoon, 2:00–7:00 pm, 2016 • Cascade 2

In 2011, we updated the infamously fun Pathfinder Society scenario "Mists of Mwangi" to use the full Pathfinder RPG rules. Now it’s your chance to choose and play the next Season 0 scenario to receive that treatment—down to the revised stat blocks, updated treasure, and official (updated) Chronicle sheet! This is an official Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild event for six lucky Pathfinders who can earn credit (even if replaying the adventure). Pathfinder Society Lead Developer John Compton will select the scenario ahead of time based on the participants’ input.

As a Pathfinder Society Organized Play event, it is strongly recommended that participants bring a legal Pathfinder Society character of the appropriate level (with accompanying Chronicle sheets). Pregenerated characters will be available for any player who does not have such a character.

For those participating in this event, please let me know which of the not-retired Season 0 scenarios you would like to play. Remember that you're able to replay this once for credit, so even a past favorite of yours is a possibility.

Please list up to five adventures that might interest you. You can prioritize them if you like, Also, if you're fairly new to the organized play campaign, consider letting me know here or by emailing me at john.compton@paizo.com; if there are several newer players, I'd be inclined to adapt a lower-level adventure.

I look forward to seeing everyone there.

What are the rules for the updated chronicle sheet? I know we can earn credit for replaying them, but can we assign the updated chronicle to the same character that has the Season 0 sheet?

I can play any of the lower level tiers. All I have are lvl 4 and 2 characters. I'm not picky on any one, just as long as I have fun with it.

I think the general replay rule applies of only receiving replay credit for a character who hasn't already played that adventure—even if the Chronicle sheet's contents (but not title) will be rather different.

My wife and I are signed up and we have a variety of characters. If Knil117 has just level 2 and 4 characters, I think we'd want to bring our level 4 and 5. That would be a level 4 melee warpriest and a level 5 Zen archer.

I'm looking over the Season 0 and, honestly, I can't see one I wouldn't want to play.

We'll talk it over and see if we can get a prioritized list together.

Sounds like we're leaning toward something like Subtier 3–4 or 4–5, which certainly provides plenty of good options. I'll take a look over the list and see if there are a few I can recommend.

I've looked over the options as well as taken a quick glance at reported sessions, and there are two really solid options jumping out at me.

  • #6: Black Waters is a fun, atmospheric adventure for which we published a spiritual sequel near the beginning of Season 7. It looks like a fair number of you have experience with this one, but it's certainly worth revisiting.
  • #23: Tide of Morning has some interesting encounter variety, a solid story, and a spiritual sequel of its own. I note that almost none of you have played this adventure, so it would be a surprise for many of you.

I'm going to tinker with each of them and see if one jumps to the top. I'll also check back here to see if you have any feelings for one over the other. Either way, it should be a lot of fun.

  • I've played Black Waters with the character I'll be bringing, so I'd like to avoid that one. I have other characters, but Kos is my 4th level character.

Good to know, Devo. I'll going with Tide of Morning.

Any chance this update will get released the same way Mists did?

That depends a lot on the development schedule and other priorities. Like the Out of Retirement scenarios, it might remain something Pathfinder Society staff take to conventions for a while. It's a little early for me to say.
