Greetings everyone!
Please dot the Gameplay and Discussion tabs, start roleplaying and post your default exploration activity with Initiative modifier. If you have any unique abilities (such as That's Odd!), please let me know.

Treader was a ranger but I'm going to be retooling him as an archer magus. That's what I originally wanted to make him but didn't have the magus book at first and felt like a ranger was easier to throw together. But let's bring on the arcane archer now and try it out.
| GM Refuge of Wonders |
Awesome! Looking forward to seeing a magus in action. Feels like PF1 had magi galore, but now people have moved on.

Yeah, I was going for a halflings recreation of my first ever PFS character which was before magus even so he was a multiclassed Arcane Archer that stumbled into a pretty crazy build. Wish you could still do multiclass like in 1e. He actually started as a ranger and then had some wizard of course for spellcasting but also Zen Archer monk to Flurry of Bows, a level of Samurai for some special ability I can't remember, a level of fighter for an extra feat, and then Arcane Archer prestige class. It was a wild build but actually turned out pretty awesome and was totally unique in his suite of abilities. Ahh, the good ol' wild west of 1e multiclassing. I miss it.
| GM Refuge of Wonders |
@Tek and EF: You guys should join the 3-4 of the PF1 special for Gameday! I'm joining and they need people. If you can join, add your name in and I'll be picking my 3-4 character from my roster, haha.

That's amazing. The PF1e builds were always crazy. I remember that Karu had the Champion of Irori prestige class and even dipped Oracle. It was so wild to do awesome niche builds.

Yep, I've noticed the lack of multiclass and "real" archetypes) which was always my favorite. Plenty of ideas for builds, just harder to look down the road to see which way to take them.

@RoW - Obviously I don't have any 3s or 4s. I assume pregens are still a thing?
| GM Refuge of Wonders |
@Tek: It's for Pathfinder 1e. You don't have any of our old school characters in the 3-4 range?
| EndlessForms |
I've got some stuff in that range but have already played it and don't know if I have capacity.
| GM Tektite |
Yeah, I have three in range and I ran the Special at GenCon, but apparently never played. That being said, I'm leaning against it for similar reasons as EF; not wanting to take on too much at once and trying to wrap my head around new rules and also switch back to old mechanics. I have not touched RPG for 8 yrs, so a small learning curve. I don't know, we'll see.

Hi, everyone. Ashleigh is a new Lv 3 PC. I will get her profile sorted during this week, including her header.

Hi! I’m having some trouble dotting into the Gameplay tab. My post doesn’t appear in the actual page. Is this a known issue?
Anyway, Repeat a Spell (shield), Init +6
Not usually. Did you take a long time putting together the Gameplay post? I remember if you took to long it would tim eout, so I always previewed before posting. Otherwise, from what I've seen, the board have been glitchy as of late.

My modem is not connecting to internet - going to affect frequency/time of day I check/post (as I will not be using mobile data aside what I have used today to let my PBP GMs know of the situation and making this post, a game day post in one of my other games and gameplay post I plan to make for this game after posting this.

Still no internet access at home. Hopefully tomorrow will get it sorted (as they are closed today because it is Labour Day) and should either have internet access at home again or be waiting for new modem to arrive via mail.
To conserve my mobile data for checking PBP campaigns and posting in them, will probably not check Slides via mobile data. @GM: Please adjudicate my actions as necessary so they match up with map.
Bad news: my mobile phone (that is my activated phone) is an iPhone (my first one, which a sibling gave to me) - requires an additional (third) one-time fee to get Pathbuilder set up on, and how I pay for such things (prepaid credit card) does not work, so cannot upload Pathbuilder links that I had not already completed and added to relevant character aliases on Paizo.
Bad news: my former phone, which I have the mobile android version of Pathbuilder on, I have not actively used for months/more than a year, so did not have my newer PBP PCs on it. Since my android mobile phone is not my activated phone, no option to use mobile data on it.
Good news: A few blocks from where I live, a government building had their guest wi-fi on, which I discovered earlier today hoping nearby Tim Hortons still provided free wi-fi (there was no wifi being registered on my phone from Timmy’s.
Good news: After several attempts to get government free wi-fi to become stable/reconnecting at least a few times, was able to access my drive for my Pathbuilder account on my android Mobile phone, and saved all my current PBP PCs onto a new local folder on my android mobile phone.
Bad news: Some, but not all my new PCs were already completed (except for gear for some of the completed PCs). Due to losing the last two days of my planned time to complete all my PBP PCs because of unexpected interruption of my home internet, it will take me considerably longer to complete PCs via mobile phones than it would have on my computer.
Good news: I have today and tomorrow to get their mechanical build and gear finished.
Bad news: The various backstories for some of them I will not have done (I need to be in relaxed state and being using my laptop to type them - as trying to type them on mobile is more stressful than relaxing)
Bad news: To try to conserve my mobile data, my posts will lean more to bare bones mechanical posts than including flavor text as part of my posts (as it takes longer typing up posts via my mobile phone than computer) so that I do not fall behind on my PBP commitments more so than not having home internet/ability to post via computer.
Good news: I might have enough mobile data to stay up to date (sans seeing maps as easily) should I be waiting for new modem that is mailed to me.
Bad news: Some (though not all) of my character headers I like to format in ways that 1) present info in easy to find with 2) spoilers strategically placed to aid in #1. For time being PCs who do not yet have headers will be getting bare bones headers.
Apologies for long post. Hopefully the above covers everything.

Slides are up for character tokens! Please check the Campaign Info tab for the standard Initiative rolls to confirm your character.

I added character names beside the tokens on the slides.
@GM:
Ashleigh's default Exploration Activity is Investigate (Occultism) +10.
The +5 modifier for Search (Perception) for her is correct.
@Solveigh & Treader:
Are you using your Paizo alias profile picture for your tokens or a different token for your PCs?

I'm heading out in about an hour to drive to Green Bay for a work function. I will return on Wednesday, but I do not anticipate it effecting my posting rate too much. Should still have morning and evening.
EF, I'll wave vaguely in an easterly direction as I make final preparations for entering the 80/94/294 Labyrinth of Gnashing Teeth and Despair...
| GM Refuge of Wonders |
Exploration Activity update: Investigate using appropriate RK except for Religion, as she does not RK using Religion, using her default Perception if Religion is the only RK skill that would apply.
What do you mean 'using her default Perception'? Recall Knowledge doesn't really allow for Perception to be used to recall anything.
Ashleigh J. Williams
|
I put Perception instead of Recall Knowledge (religion) as she does not really care about trying to figure out all the differences of the gods and normally would not make any attempt to recall knowledge about any of the deities. When I looked up if you are supposed to choose a specific Recall Knowledge skill for the Investigate exploration activity, it says the GM will decide which Recall Knowledge skill to use.
If you want her to have to use Religion to Recall Knowledge if that is the only RK skill that makes sense for the start of a given encounter instead of using Perception, I am good with that.
Ashleigh J. Williams
|
Ashleigh's primary checks she uses for Recall Knowledge all have +8. You have +5 on the campaign tab for her Investigate modifier.
RK +8 (Arcana, Occultism, Hag Lore, Pathfinder Lore)
RK +10 (Crafting)
RK +5 (Nature)
RK +3 (Society, other lores)
RK +0 (Religion)
| GM Refuge of Wonders |
As far as I am aware, Recall Knowledge doesn't let you start combat with your RK skills as the initiative roll in place of Perception. It just lets you get an automatic RK as you come across things and I think you would get one at the start of a combat.
Ashleigh J. Williams
|
Ah, that makes it easier. Thanks.
The reason I was thinking she should roll the RK skill instead: I remember from the play test rules and CRB that any skill (ore nearly any skill) could be used for initiative depending on the situation...but could not recall the full text regarding the specifics.
page 435:
Typically, you’ll roll a Perception check to determine your initiative—the more aware you are of your surroundings, the more quickly you can respond. Sometimes, though, the GM might call on you to roll some other type of check. For instance, if you were Avoiding Notice during exploration (page 438), you’d roll a Stealth check. A social encounter could call for a Deception or Diplomacy check. In most cases, you can still use Perception if you prefer.
