Battle Map

Zinli looks over Ebin’s hand and ear. It looks like frostbite has already started, but it doesn’t look like it is spreading as things did with Halgrak. He winces as you examine it. What would be best is for it to warm back up and blood flow to return to the cold portions. “Does everything look okay? My hand looks weird” Ebin ask. You’d know the quicker he’d see a cleric the more likely the damage would not be permanent.

Neronius gives Zinli his potion of Cure Light Wounds to be used. (Whomever gives the potion or takes the potion go ahead and roll that 1d8+1)

Tolbold (Everyone is already on the first floor) makes his way into the jury deliberation room. As you are looking around you just happens to look under the table and see an inscription crudely carved into the wood; ”Who’s funny now Mord?” next to it is two letters; “E.B.”

(What do you do?)

Neronius nods at the discovery of the carving, and shakes his head slowly at Ebin. "Alas, the past does not always stay buried, does it? We'll see about your hand when more pressing matters are addressed."

He turns to Zinli. "To answer your query, a reasonable inference is this: after the poltergeist has shown us everything it wishes us to see, it will either manifest in a . . . more or less . . . corporeal manner and confront us, or its spirit will depart for whatever lies beyond this mortal realm. Thus, I'm afraid we need to finish a thorough exploration of this courthouse, including another foray against the ghostly scarf-twirling Varisian figure. Naturally, I will direct matters from the rear."

@PCs: Folks, I'm just guessing at this bit, so please feel free to tell Neronius he's crazy!

Potion for Rekkart: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Well, we could try starting a fire that could heat up water in a pot that he could dip his hand in once it is warm enough. Although I am wary of starting it in a wooden building. Trevor tries his best to get some wrappings around Ebin's hands to help warm him

Heal: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

If we are going to face the ghost, we need something more than well wishes to confront her. I have no magic available to help.

Zinli removes the glove on her right hand, and holds it up. A vicious-looking burn scar covers the palm, and reaches up to the fingers. "See? I did that to myself when I was four and I grabbed one of my dad's tools when it was red-hot," she explains in her usual cheerful tone. "Hurt like a sonavab~+!%, and even magic didn't fully heal up the scar."

"We'll do your best for your hand, but given what it just took, I think it's quite normal if it looks weird right now. And don't worry too much about scars," she puts the globe back on, and pinches Ebin's cheek playfully. "I got one, and it didn't stop me from getting laid plenty!" Folks, should we give Ebin the healing potion?

"Everything it wants us to see? But it hasn't been pointing us at anything in particular," Zinli crosses her arms. "That poltergeist isn't very efficient!"

"And how do we get rid of the ghost lady, exactly? We have nothing that can hit her."

Tolbold listens to the others and then says "Yes, everything he wants us to see. He is punishing the jury, and us relatives of the jury for what he thinks, and it's looking likely, they did. We fight something, or someone dies and we get information. Under the table says 'Who is funny now Mord? E.B.'. I wonder who E.B. is." He then looks at Ebin and continues "As to how to hurt that thing upstairs, maybe magic. Someone who knows more about undead would have a better answer."

Zinli gives Ebin a meaningful look. "Ebin... You don't have anything important to tell us, do you? Because it does sound like something you could have written."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

As the others chatter, Neronius rubs his chin and ponders what he knows about destroying spectral creatures like the ghostly, dancing woman his companions have described.

Knowledge (religion) on harming incorporeal undead: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

@PCs: I was intending the potion for Rekkart, as his injuries are far more severe than a burned hand and it's *kinda sorta* my fault :) Regarding fighting ghosts etc., I do have the "legacy weapon" ability which can make a weapon magical and thus capable of doing half damage to incorporeal creatures, but I've expended my 1/day "Extensive Collection" power that activates it doing something else. I guess in theory we could try to rest, but I don't know what our chances are of not being interrupted by something spooky/deadly.

OH YEAH!! I forgot about Rekkart. I'll let Ebin answer, then move on to him.

Battle Map

Ebin is wincing at the pain of his hand and ear. His eyes glare at the frozen steel door. Even where warmth was used to loosen up its grip on Ebin, flesh was still left behind on the door.

Neronious on Shadows:

-You know the creature is incorporeal which means they are immune to critical hits and precision-based attacks.
-They are immune to all nonmagical attacks
-When hit by spells or magic weapons, it takes only half damage from a corporeal source.

Tolbold’s K-Religion / INT Check:

-You know that Channel Energy and Holy Water fully affect incorporeal creatures.
-Force Spells and effects, like Magic Missile affect incorporeal creatures normally

“Well… haha” Ebin adds his own nervous laughter around the situation. Looking around at the shrinking jury size and the five of you hungry for answers; “It seems that someone got the last laugh…” His eyes are darting around. The front door, the staircase, the frozen door beside him; “Mord...”

At that, you hear chains rattling from the courtroom where you all woke up. Making its way through the door is the corpse of Malgrim. His spiked chain is gripped tightly through his neck as blood stains his clothing. Lifeless eyes fall on the Tolbold who is closest to him. He charges at the halfling attempting to slam into him. The corpse misses its attack.
