What Ano posted. We heard something that caused Will saves and led to panicked fleeing but that's about it.

Now we're coming back to clear the complex of non-goblins or goblin-approved residents (which Gogmurt didn't mention anything so it sounds like whatever is down here is fair game) and see what else, if anything, there is of interest.

I've never played/run/read this AP so my knowledge of it is zero.

This is a conversation that can happen in character, but yeah, outside of an aberration called tentamort (cave dweller/hunter) and a set of ominous double doors, the group hasn't learned much about the complex.

I apologize for my lack of posting - after some deliberation, I've decided to leave this campaign. Frankly, I must admit to being more than a bit mentally checked-out of this game in the past weeks - it seems to me that there simply hasn't been much of note going on.

To a certain extent, too, a large part of this is how Zeldrith has grown since I submitted him to this campaign - I submitted an early draft, and in the months since, I've made updates that make him more interesting to play and better able to help the group, updates which haven't been reflected in this old draft of the character. In terms of both combat and diplomacy, he feels redundant at best, as there's really fairly little that he can do and Ano can't - bloodrager is essentially a better Eldritch Scion - and though I was offered a chance to retrain (allowing him to more effectively contribute), I've been waiting over a month for said chance to actually come up.

Combine that with what I feel is a somewhat lackluster backstory that was made more lackluster by the negation of his main plot hook from a reason to adventure to a reason not to adventure, and the long and short of it is that I'm no longer having fun with either this character or this campaign. Best wishes to those who remain.

I'm sorry to hear you're leaving but I understand how a vision for a character doesn't match with the reality. I doubt it will make a difference but, particularly at low level play, a party is best suited with 2 or 3 frontliners. Arrian isn't one which left Ano and Zel to carry the freight and now Juriya but she's a bit more fragile defense-wise. So I disagree with him being 'redundant' but if you're not having fun there's no getting around that. :(

Arrian is a Str-based version of my 'Bowquisitor' for PFS1; I often like the 'the road I didn't travel' when creating PCs.

capabilities:

--Alicia is fairly tanky, being a paladin in full plate with significantly more lay on hands and channel energies then normal pallies

--She is an ok face, and actually doesnt have a problem lying (her Paladin code allows that)

--She can heal, a lot, and (I think Ano will enjoy that) remove fatigue via lay on hands

--Once per day she can smite, her archetype, hospitaller, trades most of her smites for better healing.

Paladin stuff:

--I dont see her restricting a good aligned party much if at all. Kelinahat is rather non judgemental, Alicia has a sense of humor, and is reasonably fun to be around at a social gathering, although she may play up the "NO FUN ALLOWED" stereotype of a Paladin for laughs.

--She is forbidden from unleashing deadly surprise attacks on people of uncertain allegiance (they should be given a chance to speak), which can restrict some tactics, and under no circumstances condones torture ever, but I dont see that being a big issue.

--She will seek to redeem captives, but not in ways that imperil her main mission. She will, against sapient enemies capable of reason who are not evil outsiders, consider capturing rather then killing them, but she is allowed to be pragmatic about that.

Other then that, while she does use detect evil for scouting purposes, it to her has no judicial value, and she knows that many ways of fooling it exist. She knows that she has an aura of good, she knows that there are ways (unavailable to her currently) to mask her aura (its hard to spy on evildoers if you have a constant and easily seen aura of goodness), and she knows that anything she can do (other then smite evil), someone evil could also do.

She does not stab people for detecting as evil (although she will be very suspicious of them), although in a combat, against lets say a group of human enemies, some of whom detect as evil and some who do not, she will be more likely to nonlethally subdue those without evil auras, vs using lethal means.

The only thing Juriya and Alicia may butt heads on is surprise attacks... since she does Sneak Attack damage, lmao. She does primarily use Feinting for now as her main source (that may change when she gets multiple attacks), so she's much less "sneak up behind and backstab" rogue.

Alicia explicitly approves of feinting and sneak attacks, but they have to be vs enemies, not vs. simply people in the wrong place in the wrong time.

there is also a difference between demands she makes of herself (she will personally give chances to surrender/explain themselfs to those who may not be foes) and demands she mades of her party (she is well aware that a party is not an army, and that she does not make laws there).

The things she would seek to enforce on a party is "no torture" and "reasonable treatment of prisoners" taken.

Or put it differently, she is very honorable when it comes to "war and peace", if she is "not at war" with someone, that someone has nothing to fear from her. Once "war" is declared, she has zero issues about useing greater teleport to get into a suborbital orbit and dropping a bunch of "feather token trees" on the enemy stronghold of evil, she would even applaud and praise such creativity.

In terms of buffs, Alicia has bless weapon, which she is likely going to use on her own weapon for now, and heroic defiance prepped.

Of likely relevance is that she has
Aura of Courage (Su)

At 3rd level, a paladin is immune to fear (magical or otherwise). Each ally within 10 feet of her gains a +4 morale bonus on saving throws against fear effects. This ability functions only while the paladin is conscious, not if she is unconscious or dead.

Which could come in handy, as the thread mentioned something with will saves or run away.

She has a vibe that her "true persona" probably meshes quite well with most of the party, and is not in a headspace right now to be a prim and proper lady.

Juriya's very much a glass cannon, in case you haven't seen that she has the lowest HP of the group :3 I loved building this utter disaster, cackled for about an hour once I realized she's taking a hybrid class and both its components.

I normally play glass cannons, Alicia is, once she is in her armor, rather tanky with a ginourmous extended hp pool.

Caution, she is slow (20 feet movespeed), and that is unlikely to improve much.

She may take a single level dip in Bloodrager, bloodline Abyssal, if she gets to near death while out of lay on hands (that would fix her movespeed issue due to getting fast movement, yay), but I am currently planning to have her class choices be "organic" and influenced by her experiences/story.

Like, if she grows very close to Juriya, she may start dabbling with alchemy and take a level of mutagenic mauler, nothing wrong with alchemical performance enchancers, if she gets dominated her mind may fracture somewhat, resulting in a fractured mind dip. Paladins can certainly multiclass while losing much less then full casters.

Juriya's character was first and foremost influenced by the build (make as much use of INT for skills as possible. First level was Kitsune Trickster, so CHA+INT diplomacy and bluff. Next level she changes Perception, Disable Device, UMD, and Sense Motive's base stat to INT, and two levels after that it's 2 INTs to knowledges, and also she has inspiration. ) and it resulted in a scatterbrained, terminal polymath.

Could be a cool dynamic, you see, Alicia is simply not very smart (and knows this), even though society expects her to be a bit smarter. Once she identifies someone as a "smart and good person" she has no problem following their suggestions and plans.

She knows that, as a Paladin of Kelinahat and a tiefling, she should like, actually know which demonlord hates which other demonlord (know your foe), what special material you are supposed to stick into what type of evil outsider, but well, 10 int and 2 skill points per level without kn. planes as a class skill.

There is a way for cha for kn planes, which she may take at some point (planar savant trait) via alternative background traits, and if we were a lore sparse group I would probably take that, but I think we are fine on that regard.

At the point where "she thinks she can beat up an Incubus" (level 7-9ish) she may just take extra background skills feat mechanically, and grab a combination of fates favored/planar savant/get+2 paladin spell levels/get kn. planes as a class skill trait.

That point may also include pickup up books yes :).

Juri's got her skill points ALWAYS through book learning and apprenticeships. To the point that even in combat she thinks in numbers and angles and not instinct.

@Ano I am playing Alicia as someone who is genuinely skilled at pep talks (diplomacy), that and playing card (bluff) are her 2 main skills), she is alas better at this then I am in real life, so the pep talk quality may not be what I actually write :).

I hope she doesnt come accross as overbearing!

Alicia learned celestial because she fancied an Aasimar boy. Who was alas... well, when she had her growth and muscle spurt it got awkward for him on account of being 2,5 feet smaller.

Positioning wise, I think we have 3 people, me, Ano and Arrian who are pretty much exclusively melee, with Dominah, Juriyah and Ethan prefer range. If Arrian and Ano can attack the square in front of Alicia from the squares on her sides (probably with cover) then we got an excellent defensive position here.

Juriya is a mix of both, since she can't ranged feint. Her preferred tactic is to crossbow/bomb something until she gets in melee range while approaching slowly, hoping to not get surrounded. Saves her from immediately jumping into the melee and keeling over from glass cannon disease.

At least until multiattack, she doesn't need to be flanking with most enemies for Sneak Attack, that being one of the main things she's good at. Pulling it out of her ass.

Also, I can't see the dogs?


They aren't visible from where you stand. You'll have to move into the room to see them. Unless you already have moved in, I'll check the gameplay only tomorrow.
