Male Human Saber Rake

Khal follows looking to put some ground between him and the blasters.

"Tavin, could you please do me a favor and loots those two bodies for stuff we can use? Be liberal in your judgement, we have a revolution to arm.

Imma step into this hallway so I can blast any guards dumb enough to try a counter attack.

Honey! Try and find those guys we were told about. We got enough guards to worry about, we don't wanna start shooting prisoners too."

Mal does as he said and moves to the T-intersection and aims a line down the hall looking for a counter-movement.

Move. Held action.

Frosthamar Map

Waiting for actions from Honey, Tavin, and Rel.

Female Human-Cyborg

Running: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 2) = 6

Honey continues her willfull sprint away form the direct combat zone, seeking out the detention center. She passes a corner, and spots the cell already open and an officer standing not too far off. "Oh, did you already break out? Very proactive of you, I can see why he asked us to help you out. If you've got weapons, help us take these guys down and let's get moving."

Taking Mal's suggestion, Tavin moves over to the downed guards to grab anything useful. He frequently looks back down the hall they came from to make sure nothing is coming up behind them.

Frosthamar Map

Tavin, you pull a blaster pistol off each guard. With a more thorough search you also find each has a cred chip for a total of 137 credits.

Round 2

Confusion and cowardice has struck the Davika Tower guard station. With the executions of two of the guards in plain view of the commander, he begins to panic, lighting up the alarm klaxons and bathing the secure area in red light. One of the consequences of this action is to lock the repulsorlift, preventing security personnel from bringing the fight to the lower level. Apparently, security protocols were designed to keep people from escaping, without consideration that the threat would come from within.

The door next to Belfore opens and a guard steps out. He's adjusting his sidearm holster and trying to finish a sandwich, but as soon as he sees the corpses of the two other guards he retreats back into the room from whence he came and seals the door (B).

Purple is still out of sight in the room across the hall from the security hub, and when confronted by Honey dressed in Admin grays, the guard in the detention area throws up his hands. "Don't shoot!" he begs.

The Party is up!

Female Human-Cyborg

"Granted." She says without hesitation, not even pretending like she had a blaster to do that in the first place. "You fine men, introductions will have to wait until later. If you could kindly join us in an escape from a terrible situation then that would be perfect."

If they seem keen on actually following her, she'll move from the detention area.

Frosthamar Map

The guard in the detention area disables the force field to the holding cell containing Drifter, Khal, and Dartel.

Human Bounty Hunter

Drifter nods to Honey and moves to get his gear in case the escape gets rough.

Female Human-Cyborg

"Mal, did you really have to hit them with the full force of your shots? It's not like we're facing down imperials here." She judged, as she moved back into the main room.

After grabbing the blasters and cred sticks, Tavin stands back up in time to see thr gaurd duck back into the room next to the group.

"Careful, we got one in this room to our left," he says as he move up to the door.

Liberty's Edge

Parry: 8| TOU: 10(2){Bal}| RATN: 6 {shield}| PP: 15/15| Notice: d4| Bennies: 3/3|

As Honey spoke about a thousand rejoinders echoed in Mal's head, each one had the feel of having seen prior use.

'Overkill? This isn't a game of Kick the Ewok!

I'm sorry but I just can't find the Comfy Chair setting. Maybe if I just hit him with a throw pillow with all the stuffing at one end?

Oh how terrible that I'm not following the Queen of Earlsbury rules that they had agreed to before we invaded their secret facility. All the ladies at your embroidery club will be so ashamed.

Tell ya what, you go ask them real nice for a do-over.

I'm sorry I didn't realize our Rules of Engagement were limited to harsh language.

Well I did ask them real nice to surrender. Maybe I forgot to say please?

You are right. I really should have delivered a sternly worded letter and given them three to five business days to respond.

And what setting are their guns on? Do they have a setting where they don't shoot hard if we don't shoot hard? You know we really should have discussed this with them prior to the engagement. Perhaps if we form a three person subcommittee to henceforth pursue all reasonable non violent means of overthrowing their evil tyranny with prior agreed upon options up to and thusly limited to any means that may or may not be considered Violence Unto a Person to include penalties agreed in paragraph 3 subsection 2 of the aforementioned notorized agreement.'

But what he said was, "And if they shot you and you died, would I mourn any less for having failed to prevent it by being too soft?"

Female Human-Cyborg

"Please. With how well aimed your shots were, I doubt you'd have had any trouble merely leaving them stunned instead of cooling on the floor. Tavin, toss me one of those. It seems my past self neglected to pack any weaponry at all." Honey sidesteps Mal, taking a quick look around the room. "Well, if ever there was a place to be trapped..."

Male Human Saber Rake

Khal looks back at the Guard and indicates the room he’s running past. ”What’s in there?”

As the others come around the corner he tries to focus. Get back what was taken from him. You can show your worth shortly, but focus.

Liberty's Edge

Parry: 8| TOU: 10(2){Bal}| RATN: 6 {shield}| PP: 15/15| Notice: d4| Bennies: 3/3|

'I say that I would be sad at her death and she mocks me for having a bloodlust? That went less well than I'd imagined. I should've gone with the Queen of Earlsbury line.'

"Ah, I see. Well since you've got this whole 'guns shooting' thing figured out I guess you don't need me screwing up your optimized firing pattern," he says, deliberately holstering his pistol.

He saunters over to where the purple-faced guard is desperately trying to surrender. "Take it easy. I gotta grab your gun and creds and then tie you up now."

As he goes about trussing and relieving the man of items of import, he muses, "Now, if you're worrying about keeping your job, you'd want me to give you a bruise or two. Nothing big, just a couple good belts around the mouth. Makes your bosses know you at least went down fighting. Jus' sayin'."

Frosthamar Map

The guard from the Detention area drops his blaster pistol to the floor and hands over his cred chip to Mal in a trembling hand. By the smell, you're sure he's soiled his uniform.

"Now, just a--" he starts to beg as Mal's big fist hammers his skull. The man falls down, causing you to wonder at how this pathetic creature qualified for this duty in the first pace.

The alarms are blazing. As seasoned professionals, intuition informs you that there's a clock ticking for this part of the op.

This combat has taken a turn, where the guards have wet themselves following your brazen and improbable assault from within. The three that remain have holed up and you'll need to rut them out and deal with them as you see fit.

Drifter and Khal head for the weapons locker, taking a moment to peek into the first room on the right, which appears to be a lightweight medical exam room with cabinets, small machinery, and an exam table. There is also a steam chamber and utilitarian galley. Likely, prisoners are processed here. The two of you may advance all the way to the end of the corridor between the doors to rooms D and E. Please use the map.

Female Human-Cyborg

"Let me see if I can get something out of those consoles for a moment, while we're here. Will only take a moment." Honey announces, making a bee-line for wherever seems good place to start slicing through. I'll place her randomly along the walls.

"Let's see here..." She mutters, hooking up a cable to the nearest port.

Security: 4d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 6, 6) + (2) = 24

Frosthamar Map

I'll let you keep that Security Roll, Honey, but you're going to need to get into the command hub (D) to try that. Also, tell me what you're trying to do with the console, specifically.

Female Human-Cyborg

Honey looks over to Mal, "Where did you say that other gyard was? I need to get into the security hub if I want to actually get a bead on the console."

Tavin hands Honey one of the blasters before scanning the room to assess their options. @GM - are there any keypads at the doors?

"I didn't find any passes that would allow us to unlock any doors. It seems like we need to get in there. Got another grenade, Honey?" he says, motioning to the guard room.

Frosthamar Map

I didn't think I mentioned that there were not standard security ports for the doors. The doors to rooms D and E may be hacked through conventional means. The repulsorlift (A) is similarly secure. None of the other doors require security. Noteworthy, none of the guards you've interacted with so far had security sticks (What do you call those pocket pens?) One might assume they didn't rank.

Female Human-Cyborg

"I probably won't need something so overt. Just watch my back in case there's a surprise waiting for us." Honey says, taking the blaster and hanging it off her stolen uniform. Approaching the door, she tries to do what she can to crack it open.

Security: 4d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 6, 3) + (2) = 17

Liberty's Edge

Parry: 8| TOU: 10(2){Bal}| RATN: 6 {shield}| PP: 15/15| Notice: d4| Bennies: 3/3|

So we're all just piling up at the door to D, yeah?

As usual the droid had asked a question and then answered it herself. They should've used her as the malfunctioning robot--it would've been more convincing.

As much as he wanted to teach her a lesson about questioning those at the tip of the spear, he also wanted to get out of here in one piece. So he drew his weapon and leaned close to the door Honey was opening, trusting to his speed and skill to take the room once they had access.

Male Human Saber Rake

Khal follows Drifter up the corridor and as he does so looks over these two in uniforms who have joined them. ”I hope you don’t mind me asking, but who are you? You’re clearly not who the uniforms suggest you would be.”

Following the other two and watching the back-trail, Dartel goes to recover his weapons, strapping on the quick-draw holster before making sure his DL-6H is set to stun. "Alarm's going. Best we get things done, or we're going to be chin-deep in security."

Frosthamar Map

Khal, Drifter, and Dartel bust into the weapons closet (D), where the guard has already dropped his own blaster pistol and is waiting for you with his hands in the air.

"This job doesn't pay well enough to die for," he babbles.

The three of you reclaim your equipment from shelves along one wall. On another wall hangs three more blaster pistols. Your professional analysis could be that they don't expect much trouble in Davika Tower. On the other hand, you've already run into the Enforcers, and they are a different outfit altogether.

In the narrow corridor, Mal covers for Honey while the android hacks the door to the security hub. The protocols are trickier than you might have thought, with two-dimensional encryption. Very cutting edge, but Honey is equal to the task, and after a minute of spinning her security tool in the port, she eventually feels the circuit break and the door slides open...

Initiative:
PCs: 3d6 + 1 ⇒ (5, 3, 4) + 1 = 13
Guard Captain: 3d6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 2, 6) + 2 = 13

Players go first!

You burst into the security hub, a good-sized room interspersed with computer consoles facing the large pane windows overlooking the repulsorlift and processing area from which you came. The Captain hides behind a far console at the other side of the room, lining up a shot at Mal with his blaster. But you are a hair quicker, and can move first!

1/2 Cover: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 6) = 10 Add 10 to the DN to-hit. Use the MAP to determine range. We'll do a little theater of the mind here, so imagine that any place you want to run to there is a terminal to use for cover, meaning everyone in the room has 1/2 cover all the time.

New Combat - Round 1 - You are up!

Human Bounty Hunter

Did we have time to put on body armor or other wearable equipment while she hacked the system or would we still be putting items on? I would have a protective vest and a jetpack to strap on.

Frosthamar Map

You had time to equip yourself.

Human Bounty Hunter

Drifter leans around the door and takes a shot at the guard in the room with his heavy blaster. He then ducks back behind the wall and says, "Are we looking to get something before getting out of this place?"

Shooting around the Corner into D. I will be using the Stun setting.

Shoot to Stun: 5d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 3, 2, 1) = 13

Damage: 5d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 3, 5, 2) = 17

Male Human Saber Rake

Khal grabs a blaster and clips his sporting blaster to his belt. He looks around for armour before giving up and heading out. The blaster switched to stun he looks to shoot.

Shoot: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 4, 6) = 13

Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 3, 5) = 13

Tavin moves closer to the group but continues to keep his eye on the door by the lift. Room B

Frosthamar Map

That's a couple misses so far. With the +10 from 1/2 cover, you're going to need really good rolls to hit him at range. Also, armor is shite in Star Wars. Space-western theme trumps practical applications of technology.

Not entirely true, considering that heavy armor they had earlier!! :P

"Hey, hacker lady!!" calls Dartel. "Let's let the gung-ho dig that womp rat out of its burrow -- we'll work on getting this other one. I don't care for being flanked."

10 Move = 2 squares, correct? Dartel has been moved, towards B. Is the guard in G down/out?

Female Human-Cyborg

"Yeah, I'm not dealing with this guy. Good luck boys." Honey agrees, and moves to follow Dartel.

Mal nods at Drifter, agreeing with his tactics. He too shelter behind the door and launches a brace of bolts toward the desk jockey.

Blaster Damage!: 5d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 4, 4, 6) = 19

Frosthamar Map

Okay, Mal is going to smoke this guy. Let's clear up the rule on using Scopes. To get the +1 you have to burn an action to Aim it. It makes no difference to the result of those rolls but it could impact future shots, so please factor that action penalty for the next time.

Frosthamar Map

Soak Roles:
Soak: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (6, 2) + 2 = 10 vs 15 = Wound!
Soak: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 2) + 2 = 9 vs 19 - Mortally Wounded!

The Guard Captain takes two shots in the left side of his chest from Mal, and is spun to the floor, his body still. When Mal, Drifter, and Khal satisfy themselves that there are no other surprises in the security hub, a quick search of the captain, who is still alive but not for long, turns up a blaster pistol, a cred stick with 380 credits, and the real score - a security key that was an inch from being vaporized by Mal's blaster. It appears whole. The alarm klaxons continue to blare.

Meanwhile, Dartel, Honey, and Tavin head toward the room where the guard was spotted (B). The door opens, and you enter with weapons high. This room functions as a spacious break room and cafeteria for the guards, with four large tables in the center and various elements lining the counter spaces along the walls. Another door leads north. When you open that one, you see a lone guard standing in front of a group of lockers. The man is panicked, and his blaster is on you!

Dartel, Honey, and Tavin - you may take actions against this guard.

Seeing the guard pointing a blaster in their direction, Tavin quickly moves to the side, out of the doorway.

"Whoa there! No need for that. Drop the blaster and you can go home tonight. We're not here to kill you. We just need to make sure you're not going to sneak up behind us," Tavin yells around the corner.

Assist Perception (persuasion): 1d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + (4) = 7 Of the 3 of us, I'm lowest at 2D vs 3D for the others so I'll just help but wanted to post something to help move things along.

Female Human-Cyborg

Hope everyone else's holidays have been going alright, been busy lately over here.

Honey falters for a moment, before nodding in assentation. "I can't speak for the big guy back there, but I didn't come here with the intent of shedding blood. If you promise to sit down and look pretty, let us do our own jobs, then nothing'll come of this."

Persuasion: 2d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (5, 5) + (2) = 12

Frosthamar Map

Good rolls!

The last guard drops his blaster pistol and raises his arms in surrender, blabbering about the lack of response tactics in the field manual. You quickly tie him up and frisk him for valuables, finding a cred chip with 50 creds, but your adrenaline level is not yet allowed to drop as the alarm klaxon continues to bleet angrily throughout the subterranean level and who knows where else. The three of you run back to the control room and the full group is united at last.

Belfore, a statue during the melee, dawdles nonplussed into the security hub and approaches Honey. "Administrator, might I suggest you deactivate the alarm?"

Congrats! The team is all together! Yay.

Female Human-Cyborg

"Yes, it really is getting in the way of what was shaking up to be a perfectly routine inspection." She agrees, before moving to where it was appropriate to do so.

Liberty's Edge

Parry: 8| TOU: 10(2){Bal}| RATN: 6 {shield}| PP: 15/15| Notice: d4| Bennies: 3/3|

Mal snatches up the security key and, not really an ideas man, brings it to Honey. "Do you know where I should stick this?" he asks, completely serious.

Frosthamar Map

Honey and Mal quickly figure out where to stick the security key to disable the alarm system. For a moment everything is shockingly quiet. You don't have much time to congratulate yourselves as the comm channel cracks to life.

"Security, what's going on down there?" demands an agitated male voice.

Human Bounty Hunter

Drifter wanders over to where the others are to see what their intentions for the base might be.

Male Human Saber Rake

Khal looks around waiting for someone to answer the Comms. He waits a moment, no movement so he goes to the Comms. ”Slight issue with the prisoners, but all sorted now.”

Persuasion: 4d6 + 1 ⇒ (6, 5, 4, 1) + 1 = 17

Frosthamar Map

For his efforts, Khal is rewarded with an uncomfortably long pause on the other end of the comm unit.

Finally, it responds, "I expect a full report by the end of the shift." The communication abruptly ends.

Alright, now that all of that is settled, please take a moment to roleplay introductions and decide on the next steps. I think there were a couple good ideas batted around already for how best to proceed.

Male Human Saber Rake

Khal breathes a little sigh of relief then draws himself up. ”I believe I asked earlier who you were. The uniforms were a giveaway, but the clincher was shooting the guards. Thank you for the assistance.’

Human Bounty Hunter

"My name is James, people call me Drifter. Thanks for the rescue." Drifter says as he looks over the group that stormed the prison.

Female Human-Cyborg

"Honeypot, she speaks the name with an odd mechanical whirl not unlike that if an astromech. "Call me Honey for short. Don't go any shorter than that. I'm the team's slicer, part of what we came here for is to break all of you out. The other part... Well, that's what I need this terminal for."

The cyborg gestures vaugelt bwside her, but dosn't yet make to move toward it. All her attention was on the freed prisoners.
