No, I'm not ready. How can you be ready for an army to attack you? We haven't even gotten the Westies out of here and now the Easters are coming in?

She looks frazzled and starts babbling...

What's the plan? Just defend the town from the Easters or kill both sides? Honestly it would be a good excuse to get rid of the Westies as well, as long as it looks like they died in the attack... but not looking to have any army stationed here and making us a target.

Are we bringing out the big gun? ... or, should we get the citizens to evacuate till after the battle is over? What is going to help the town the most?

Malik shakes his head in the negative, No I was trying to project confidence. You are never ready - no matter how many times they order you forward... Come on, let's find the others. I think we need to work to protect our neighbors, let the armies fight it out among themselves, we're not soldiers, we're just trying to survive. Malik looks grim for a moment, before checking his diminishing supply of crossbow bolts and what that means for the day..

Yeah, protect our neighbors. That's why we're in this.... he says, trying to convince himself as much as Kazell.

Kazell grabs her bow, locks up the shop, and goes with Malik.

I'm with you. I don't know how we're going to protect the town in the middle of a war, but I'll try, as always.

On the way to wherever they are going, if Kazell sees any citizens of Burrowdar that aren't ready to join the fight, she tells them to get inside and lock the doors. No matter which side won, their town was in grave danger.

Vargas spends the next few days doting over his sister, who remains in bed, weak, feverish, sober. Every part of him wants to run to Titus for comfort and support, but he knows that if he were to tell the boy what he knew, the relationship with his sister, who he had literally killed for, would never be the same.

The two of them are awoken early as the soldiers on their land buzz about, preparing for battle.

Viatrix wriggles up in the hay loft, struggling to speak.

"Don't worry, V, I'll, I'll see what's happening. I'll do my best not to disappoint you."

He presses her pistol into her hands, swearing to her that he would be safe and fine, but she needed to protect their land.

He takes off walking to town, arriving slightly late to meet at the bar.

As you gather, you know that your best chance may be delaying them at the Turnbottom Ditch. You can easily go down into the ditch and back up, but its a bit time consuming to do so-- the Turnbottom bridge is much quicker, so perhaps you can hold them off there. . .

Or perhaps you could take to Sir Kenneth Alintar, the Fifth Earl of Hathington, Brigadier General of the West Kingdom and have the Westies do it.

It's not like this is something you could miss. Especially with scouts. If "Sir Kenneth" isn't already out there, then I'm pretty confident that he doesn't mean to come.

Malik, having served time in the legions, surveys the disposition of the West army troops quickly from where he and Kazell are talking; while keeping his eyes open for the others in their self-appointed motley band of "defenders of Burrowdar".

Well Kazell, I say we ask the Westies to defend the ditch AND the bridge, and we stay close to where the civillians are. the bartender looks harder than he usually does, perhaps conjuring the ghosts that came with his armor and weapons from his youth.

”My fear.” Karak said. ”Is that if the Eastern army wins, then there will be no more town. They have no pay, so they’re probably getting looting rights. If we want a town left we will need to fight for it. We may want to join the defense. Mayhaps at the bridge? At least our cannons can blow it if we can’t hold it.”

Wait... we stole the *west* army's pay, so they would leave the town... right?
