I'm going to take Xavante as being mildly distracted by pie to carry this combat along a bit. I'll weave in your post when you're available, Xavante.

Just FYI, I'm going to be pulling punches a bit in this fight. The encounter I started was set at a CR for 6 level 3 players, not 5. So, I won't be using any more of the spells on the Ratlings list, and if it still looks like you guys will struggle I'll modify accordingly.

In terms of positioning I'm going to just assume that Wil, Fisty, and Gregor are up front, Aineyr is behind, and Xavante is up in the trees for now.

As Gregor readies to throw a bomb at the Ratlings, Aineyr begins to sing providing inspiration to everyone in the group.

Only Dr. McKnuckles can see that about 20 feet into the cave is a bend, and around that bend comes a roiling mass of fur and teeth two rat swarms followed by two ratlings. The swarms reach the mouth of the cave and step into the light with ratlings a few steps behind. Daniel does something menacing. Wil, insert flavor text here causing one of the ratlings to hesitate for a second successful Intimidate for Shaken condition. Gregor heaves the explosive concoction at the ratlings

Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

Reflex: 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 5 - 2 = 22

doing 4 damage to each of them.

Neither the swarms or the ratlings have enough movement to reach any member of the group, they just reached the mouth of the cave this turn. Xavante can jump in when he's available, otherwise we can progress with the next ground of combat.

Male Human Monk (Sohei) 1/Bloodrager (Blood Conduit) 1/Hunter 1 HP:24/24;AC:17,T:13,FF:15/F:7,R:6,W:3;Init+3/Perc+9

Daniel, upon seeing the two ratlings, snorts and stomps his hooves menacingly to one of them. Wil, upon seeing the two swarms, guides Daniel Auto succeeds DC 5 ride check until he is 5 ft away from them while pulling out an acid flask from the saddle.

"I see two rat swarms and two of those ratling thingies I think!" he shouts as he tosses the acid flask.

Going to target one of the swarms so that the other swarm gets splash damage if possible.

range touch attack vs. Rat swarm: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16

Daniel, seeing his success, decides to put a hoof up to his eye imitating wiping away a tear, further demoralizing that ratling.

Wil laughs as the ratling's shoulders slump again before readying his guisarme to trip anyone that triggers an AoO. "Atta boy Daniel," he says with a chuckle, "that rat thingy IS a big crybaby!"

That, and I might not have understood I had a turn - or maybe it was brain problems.

Xavante watches Gregor's concoction go off.

"Wow, that looks like it smarts to me!"

Truespeak, universal aptitude on self, DC 21, Known Truename bonus: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (17) + 18 = 35 +2 Comedy bonus = 37
Comedy: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (5) + 16 = 21

I get a +5 bonus to all skill checks (which, of course, includes Truespeak ^^) for 1 minute, plus 1 round for every 5 I exceeded the DC, ergo a total of 13 rounds.

Incidentally, I forgot to include my Known Personal Truename bonus the last time I tried this, which would have resulted in a success (meaning success on the skill checks I was attempting back then, and an application of the Law of Resistance), but shall we sweep that under the rug by this point?

Male Android Investigator (Biomechanist) - 8

So, you definitely succeed on whatever you are trying to do...but I don't know what universal aptitude does. If you want, you can just summarize the magical effects of the truenamer stuff on your profile. I'm happy to use that for reference. EDIT: beat me to the explaining, but I would still recommend throwing that in your profile for my ease. Adding an ongoing effect list to your character like Wil has done with his stats would be nice too. As for sweeping it under the rug, I'm going to go with yes, because honestly, I don't remember that far back and I still have patients to treat tonight, so I won't be able to dig it back out.

As the ball of mice vomits out of the cave Wil's flask collides with the mass hitting all of them I'll say both swarms are still on top of each other from the narrow cave mouth, so both took 7 damage. The mass briefly forms into a middle finger shape as it continues tumbling out of the cave.

The same ratling that hesitated now shits a little, as he continues moving forward Shaken condition continues for another round.

male Human Alchemist 4 / demi-gestalt Brawler, HP /, Init +4, Perc +5, AC 18, T 12, FF 16, Fort +, Ref +, Will +

sorry, I should have clarified alchemist's bomb. it does 9 fire damage to the ratling it hit (ranged touch, no save). All adjacent targets take splash damage, which is the minimum die roll, reflex dc 14 for half (4 dmg, 2 on successful save). Swarms take 1.5x damage from splash weapons (6 dmg, or 3 on a successful save).

Male Android Investigator (Biomechanist) - 8

@Aineyr - Gregor did the identify a while ago, but never beat the DC enough to know weaknesses. The roll is Knowledge (Arcana).

@Gregor - That's right, I forgot. From a distance stand point, the rat swarm is a bit too far ahead of the ratlings, but you will hit both the ratlings

Wil's swing connects with the ratling's head making a loud popping noise splattering Dr. McKnuckles in the face with brain matter. Daniel leans in to bite the ear, and finds his mouth empty, mostly because the ear is on the ground.

Gregor fails to connect with even a single rat in the swarm crawling all over him and Dr. McKnuckles.

There is a giant mound of slop that once was rats and ratling at Fisty's feet. A man comes out of the cave with a push broom and an Oscar Mayer uniform on. He starts to sweep up the remains, then pauses and looks at Fisty, "I'll be needin' all the parts sir, sorry about this!" and begins sweeping the brain matter off of Fisty's face. After he disappears back into the cave with all the slop you all hear
