between magic being weird and eleven year old logic that's fairly plausible

"No. It's just probably best for your sake that people don't see you with me."

"... Are you sure? I mean, I can probobly find a way to avoid getting seen..."

"Yeah I'm sure. There's nothing wrong with you and me walking through the bloody town. If they somehow have a problem with it then they can soak their heads for all I care" this kid is just filled with determination

a adya pauses a while.
"... Those Are new expressions."

"What?"he stops and looks at her strangely, as thoug she was the one saying the weird things.

"I've just never heard things expressed quite like that. Don't worry about it."

"Fair enough" he says shrugging.

Ayda stands, sighs, and gestures for Antony to follow, headed into town. It really isn't far in at all that there's mumbling of "why's he with the bastard?" And "why do his parents let him near thst thing?"
"Funny... There's usually shouting and rocks.,

"Maybe because now they're questioning what's going on. If we're lucky or the good gods see fit to shine light into their hearts, then they'll start to question why they act the way they do what they do and realize they're being a bunch of nutters"

ayda snickers.
"What did you say your dad did?"
the mumbling continues, but it starts to die down to the hectic nature of the ethereal marketplace as they pass through, far too much shouting about what's beign sold and exotic creatures everywhere for anyone to be paying any attention.

"He's a guardsman, mum says he's a shoe in for when the captain steps down next year, but da says there are lotsa other good candidates"

"Did you ever consider that maybe they aren't shouting or throwing rocks out of fear of your father?"

He frowns and crinkles his nose at her "that's rather cynical"

"Does that make it any less true, though?"
the hustle and bustle of the market dies down behind them.
"I mean, look at that."
she gestures to a crowd of people, avoiding eye contact and mumbling among themselves.
"Does that really look like they feel guilty? Or are even slightly thinking about their actions?"

He pauses "... They might be" he doesn't sound too terribly convinced of his own words.

"So you'd feel comfortable walking away from me and seeing what they do, then?"
she pauses Her walk, looking at him for an answer.

"... I said I'd help... Wouldn't do to break a promise..."

she chuckles.
"Suppose that was the best answer to that question. Very... Good at not taking a side."
she points to a small, run down house abosultly covered in ivy.
"We're almost there."

"I'm not... Avoiding takeing a side... I'm helping... That's takeing your side innit?" He seems to be legitimantly asking this question.

"I meant a side on the "argument" of sorts. Again, don't worry about it. I think it went over your head."
she's soon standing in front of the door to the house. Up close, it seems more like the ivy's holding it together then the other way around. It's barely standing.

"You lived here? It's uhhhh old"

"It was abandoned, previously. We fixed it up a little, but... Well. You can see what kinda state it's in. It was always something breaking, here or there. Couldn't fix up the whole thing because we were always busy dealing with the more immidate issues. Though, we both rather liked the ivy. Reminded mom of home."

"Huh... Mom would have grab a scroll of make whole or just cast a bunch of mendings.... Not sure what it's do to this place... Might do weird things to the plants...I don't actually know much magic... Or any really"

"I have a feeling it would take a lot more then just a few spells to fix this place. Come on inside."
she leads Antony into the house- it's dusty, and ivy has grown into the cracks- it lines the walls wherever there's a hole in the roof for sunlight to filter through. She really doesn't seem to think anything about this rsther barren place is worth noting, like this is totally normal.
"Come on, sword's over here."

"Maybe it would take more. " he follows after her to the sword.

Adya is staring up at an oranatly carved, shining silver katana- the carvings almost look like writing. it's also quite possibly the only thing in this house that looks well-maitained.
"That's mother's sword."
and it's out of her reach quite a bit. And on a plaque that's been taken over by ivy.

"Pretty... I think you should be the one to remove it, so here, I'll give you a boost" he puts his hands out in such a way as to lift her up.

Ayda climbs up, before scraping the ivy away with her claws.
"There are a few good things about being a kobold. Not many, but still."
she yanks the plaque off the wall... And a decent part of the rotting wood behind it too. The building stsrts to creak and groan.
"That's not a... Good sound..."
she hops down and starts pulling Antony, trying to get him to leave the house quickly.

The human kid half carries her and half runs with her as he runs out the building.

it isn't very long after e two leave e building thst it collapses into a heap of rubble and ivy. Ayda looks at it, for a moment, then chuckles.
"I always told mom that would happen, one of these days."
she's crying a bit, but still smiling, as she takes the sword off of the rotting plauqe. For once, people are staring and not murmuring to themselves, as they look at the wreck that was a house.

"Don't suppose there was anything else in that place of value?"

"... Nothing much."

"Anything worth looking through the rubble?"

she shakes her head.
"Nope."
she brushes the grime off the sword.

"Wanna head to my place?"

she looks at him, a while.
"Something tells me your parents won't be as accpting as you think they will... But... What have I got to lose?"

"Do the Druids that hang out at the place I found you mess with you?"

"No. They just kinda leave me alone. I rarely even see them. Might be avoiding me, might be busy. Donno."

"Well me mum's one of them, and my da's a paladin. If you won't take my word at face value, that should help in that regard, worst case scenario, they won't let you stay but will look into finding you your own place, best case scenario they let you stay and da gives you some trainin in that sword... Most likely case they'll let you stay but only till they find you a place"

"I suppose."

"I could be wrong, but hen you were wrong about me so..." He shrugs "anyway follow me, the house is uh... This way" he says pointing and then going

Adya tags along, reading the carivings in the sword as she walks.

Adya starts mumbling as they walk.

Anthony stops suddenly "wait no, this way. Forgot... My parents are still at work... Not sure where dad is today, but mom's in the same general area we met at.. I uh.. Probably shouldn't have left without telling her.. Oops"

adds giggles softly.
"Tell me. What do you know of the dragonslayers?"

"Uh well they were really strong and a couple thousand years ago they killed or drove off all the dragons, oh! And they had really big swords, or at least some of them did, why?"

"Just... Curious. This sword has thier oath enscribed on it. It's small, and written in elven, but it's there."
