Haltak
Same, but I/Haltak really took leave of senses there.
attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Oi, time to retreat or think aboot a diff'rent strategy...
Wen his turn comes up, Haltak casts cure moderate wounds with one of his remaining spell slots.
cure: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (6, 5) + 3 = 14
HP = 28/36
Phaust Spireborn
Whincing from the pain, Phaust shoves his blade up, deep into the beast.
Gandasa: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Dmg.: 2d4 + 1 + 2d4 + 1 + 2d4 + 1 ⇒ (3, 3) + 1 + (4, 4) + 1 + (3, 3) + 1 = 23 D-A-M-N!!!

The beast squawked and screeched as Phaust stabbed into the beast's talon as it grabbed the sunrod, filthy blood splurting upwards from the wound and covering the three men. The other weapons followed before the beast rose into the air. It screeched angrily at those below it, probably going to take flight after those attacks.
It was pretty high up there and the adventurers' turn.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Akurna Kenezor
How far away is the beast now? Are we still in combat?
"That was... disturbing. It seemed to be angered by the light."
Akurna produces a wand. "Who needs healing?"
None of you guys have your current HP vs. Total HP listed in your status bar, so I don't know who has damage.
Akurna Kenezor
Akurna can't really hurt it at that range. Anyone else?
Phaust Spireborn
The gray-skinned Phaust gurgles, "I'll have whatever you're offering." Stunned by his own faux pas, Phaust continues "I-I didn't mean it to sound like that."
11/30
Note to self, fix Phaust's class tab to include vitals.
Akurna Kenezor
"I-I didn't mean it to sound like that."
Akurna smiles quietly, as she approaches to tend to Phaust's wounds.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Phaust should now be at 27/30 which is probably enough for now. Haltec: what are your HP at?
"Does anyone have more light?"
Phaust Spireborn
"I've got a sunrod", Phaust states. The church agent pulls off his backback to find the sunrod.
Akurna Kenezor
Phaust should now be at 27/30 which is probably enough for now. Haltec: what are your HP at?
Horec: What about you?
Akurna Kenezor
Akurna turns and uses the wand on Horec.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
"There you are. Now... what can we salvage out of this situation? Any of you ever seen anything like that before?"
Akurna Kenezor
Phaust shakes his head. "That's a new one on me."
Really, guys? Am I the only one with a knowledge skill?
Phaust Spireborn
Crayfish said it wasn't undead, so my Knowledge (religion) is useless, but I can check if it's an outsider.
Knowledge (planes): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10 Well, that don't help.
Akurna Kenezor
..but I can check if it's an outsider.
My bet would either be outsider or magical beast. Possibly fae - that would be my third choice.
Haltak
"I've been around a few unsavory things in my time..."
knowledge religion: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
knowledge arcana: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
knowledge planes: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
knowledge nature: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
knowledge dungeoneering: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
knowledge local: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

The sound the beast make is the exact sound a common raven makes. The hounds that attacked Haltak were normal, except aggressive and thin. Likely scavenging off of the pile of dead bodies for fresher meat. These beasts are common in the woods. The ichor that the hounds were salivating the dwarf with though, that was magical and unnatural. He could feel it in his leg, where it was gravitating. Animals of similar watering grounds catch similar diseases...
Haltak
"Well, it sounded just like a raven - maybe warped by dark magic like the hounds? They had two heads and their maws dropped something unnatural, diseased maybe. I might be infected, but I'm not sure. "
I wonder if I can either tell if I'm diseased or more about it and/or treat myself
heal: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

"I'll need to remove my armor to take a look, and I don't want to do that out here. When we can't do anything more to identify the bodies, we should retreat to some kind of shelter. I'd rather not die so soon into my quest."
Akurna Kenezor
Akurna calls out to Horec and Phaust.
"Hey, wait! Bring that light back here for just a few minutes."
If they don't, I will follow them back to town, but if not:
"We need to look over these bodies. There is a mystery here. How did the fragments of the priests' robes end up among these bodies, which are not the bodies of the priests?"
Given time, Akurna will take 20 on perception to search the area.
perception take 20: 20 + 10 = 30
"When we get the chance, I should want to bring a cart back here to haul these bodies back to the graveyard. Who knows what mischief could happen if they are not properly buried?"
Phaust Spireborn
"Fair enough", concedes Phaust. Having the dwarf hold the light for the others, the ustalavan assists in Akurna's investigation.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

There were several small strands and patches of priest wear hanging along the tree branches, with some of the patches wedged in between bodies at certain points. The trail continued behind the rock and off into the darkness. There was a painting of a burning barn and panicking horses underneath a body. It seemed to be mostly in tact, and dry, as the body was decomposing yet.
Akurna Kenezor
"Why would there be a painting here? I don't know what to make of that. It's certainly an unusual subject for a painting."
"And the priest robes... perhaps the priests are all right, but their robes were torn in a battle here? With these men? Or perhaps with those animals."
Akurna Kenezor
"I know you are concerned about your wound, but perhaps we should continue on this trail a little further."
Phaust Spireborn
"If I have to drag you both back to the church", grumbled Phaust, "I will"!

The travelers follow the trail of cloth to the mouth of a hungry cave, it's jaws large and dripping with cool moisture. A minecart lay toppled over the tracks that have long since been decayed. A light just around the lip of the cave flickered in the darkness and voices grew hushed as the travelers neared.
Akurna Kenezor
"Shhh... I heard voices up ahead a moment ago. And there is lght up ahead."
"Let's go quietly from here."
I'll take 10 on stealth for a 9.
Phaust Spireborn
Stealth: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Phaust follow the clerics into the cave, gandasa in hand.
Akurna Kenezor
"Yes!" shouts Akurna. "It's Akurna, the village priestess! Who's there?"
Crayfish Hora

The male voice answered back, "Begone then! You condemned us to die; I won't let you come in! You're not allowed, so begone!" A woman's voice echoed off of the walls of the cave, not yelling, "Our son is hurt though. Perhaps we should ask the priestess for--" The male voice cut her off, "If she sets foot in here, she'll kill us. That's what the elf said. I..I love him but we can find another way. We'll look for herbs or something."
Then the male voice waited a bit, before he yelled again, "You still there? Get lost!"
Akurna Kenezor
"I have condemned no one!" Akurna shouts back. "Nor do I wish anyone's death."
"Who is this elf you speak of? Is it Charlie? The town ruled that he was guilty of murder, though I did not think there was enough proof for that. But even he I do not seek to kill; rather I seek to understand what has happened."
"Foul creatures are afoot out here. I swear I mean you no harm, and I will help your son if I can. Perhaps we could talk face to face?"
diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 Meh.

The male voice became angrier, "That elf saved us from you priests! You wanted to burn us alive; don't tell me you didn't condemn us. Don't lie to me.." He was so angry that he was probably shedding tears at this point.
The male voice answered off of the cave walls, "You are one of those creatures. You are nothing more than a monster. Leave; I have nothing more to say to the likes of you."
Phaust Spireborn
"You can back the fu<* up right now!"
Phaust unleashes a burst of channeled energy.
Channel Energy: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Akurna Kenezor
Akurna moves up to the doorway. She holds her holy symbol high.
"Come out, I command you!"
Using channel energy to use Command Undead. Will DC 14 to resist, if they are undead that is.

The other two watch Phaust and Akurna shout back into the cave. A pulse of energy ripples through the darkness and Akurna holds her holy symbol. The party is still sitting at the lip of the cave, but they are within 30 something ft, by how close the torch-light is. All this commotion though..
At Akurna's words, the man's voice and some other, younger men reply back with several swears and a prominent, "Go to hell!"
Phaust, you channel positive or negative energy? Or if you can channel both, which one you channeling now?
Phaust Spireborn
Always positive. Being an undead slayer, Phaust wants to destroy undead, not empower it.
