Squeezing in my application at the last minute here, sorry... I'd be very interested in joining this campaign, I am a huge fan of the Planescape setting and I have read & enjoyed your Out of the Abyss campaign thread so I feel like I know you'll be a good DM :^)
This would be my first experience with PbP, although I have played a lot of 5e face to face, and have wanted to try PbP for a while.
Aurienne Harcourt
Lawful Good Aasimar Wizard (Planning on Divination school)
Faction: Fraternity of Order
Ability Scores: STR 11 / DEX 14 / CON 11 / INT 15 / WIS 9 / CHA 15
Skills: Arcana, History, Investigation, Religion
Personality:
Aurienne was born in The Lady's Ward in Sigil, to a well-off family. Her human parents doted on their daughter, viewing the birth of an aasimar as a divine blessing to their family. At a young age she discovered a love for books, and dedicated herself to reading & learning everything she could about the world. Her conviction is that knowledge is power -- that the best way to improve the multiverse for others is to understand how things work, inside and out, and leverage that knowledge to the benefit of everyone. With such a philosophy it only made sense for her to join the Guvners, and it was through faction connections that she first began to learn magic.
One of her personal quirks is her obsession with divine signs and portents -- she is always looking out for minor occurrences and trying to interpret them as having some grand meaning for the future (after all, everything has to have its own lawful place in the order of things). She has spent very little time outside of Sigil because she feels she hasn't yet learned enough about the city, but is more than willing to travel if she has the opportunity to obtain new knowledge, or if she is needed somewhere else. Her biggest flaw is her naivete -- she's spent so much time buried in her books that she is somewhat sheltered, and despite her aspiration to do good hasn't faced serious adversity yet.
While I was coming up with this character, I had the personality in mind first, but spent a lot of time debating over whether I wanted her to be a bard or a wizard, mechanically. If it ends up fitting the party composition better I can easily make her a Lore bard instead, while keeping the same character concept.
And before I forget: Once more into the Abyss...

I would think of Aerin as a planar; being from Ysgard originally he is aware of how the planes function and fit together. Factionwise, he is a Sensate, though I only mentioned that outside the background provided. Not that it should matter too much in terms of game play.

Kejak wrote:What does 'prime' mean?Slang for someone who comes from the Prime Material Plane (e.g. Greyhawk Forgotten Realms, Dragonlance, etc.). Usually pejorative as "Primes" are assumed to be clueless about how the planes work.
"Clueless" is generally the pejorative. Prime and planar are just descriptors noting where someone is from. If I recall correctly, generally all the standard races are considered prime unless otherwise noted. But it's been a bit since I read through the old Planescape stuff (only read through the adventures that I've translated more recently).
You can be a prime and still have solid knowledge of the planes. IIRC, in the old days there were even spells which affected each group a little differently. But if you're brand new to the planes, you're a clueless Berk. :)

We have 13 wonderful applications. Thank you to everyone who has taken interest in the game. As this is a Planescape game - and these games tend to be somewhat rare, I'm going to separate the applicants into old school Planescape fans and newer fans (everyone else).
I'll accept two old school fans randomly. Then two newer fans randomly. Then out of the remainder, I'll accept the final two.
Each applicant will have until tomorrow, Tuesday at noon PST, to confirm their acceptance. Any who do not confirm in that time or decide to pass up their entrance will set off another random selection. The new applicant will have another day to accept or turn down. This continues until we have our six.
GM Bookrat |
For those who were accepted, please respond with a confirmation by noon PST tomorrow (Tuesday).
For those who were not, thank you for showing interest. Feel free to stay and watch, to comment in the discussion thread, and to just hang out. If someone doesn't respond by the deadline or drops out, we'll pick a new member. If someone drops out in the future, I'll be contacting you by PM to invite you in.
GM Bookrat |
All six have confirmed! Recruitment is now closed.
I'll be starting up the campaign tab and the gameplay tab soon*, but feel free to start using the discussion tab anytime you want. Everyone here, even those who did not make it for the game, are welcome to join in the discussion tab.
*Probably tonight or tomorrow, as I'm at a family reunion right now.
