we need to do something, Karethas' pit will end soon and then there will be more of them. The swarm is an issue but we need to act.
Sheik Voodoo
It's a thrown weapon, Faelar. 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Faelar seems uncertain what to do and tosses a vial of alchemist fire at the swarming flies. Unfortunately, it just passes through and breaks upon the floor burning some flies, but it doesn't seem to have any great effect on the cloud of biting menaces.
Amir grows increasingly anxious as the cloud of smoke from the fire disperses and the end of the pit approaches.

Amir Awad Hajjir
Okay folks this is a little silly. We need to do something and I'm half tempted to run in there or jump in the pit. I think the swarm is a distraction at best and the fact I am not "covered in bees" suggests that some if not most of you who are not Karethas can get out. So get out. :p
Kzrira Maiwith
We are in a narrow passage. Let them come to us. The swarm should dissipate before long. If we move forward, either you get flanked, or I am in melee range, neither of which are great for extending this adventure. I will shoot as soon as I can see something, I just cannot yet.
Amir Awad Hajjir
While I agree on some level there is no incentive for them to come, we are in their territory after all and when the swarm dissipates they will be up at least a Hyenadon and the archer if it survived the fall. In essence we will have wasted how many spells to have done falling damage to two characters? Its compelling to think we have the advantage but I wonder if it isn't us that is trapped. They can clear the line of fire and wait for us to enter unless we break in somehow. Unless Karethas can cast Vansih on some of us so we can try to sneak in?
Karethas ibn Faradin
i can cast Vanish on whoever, extending it to 10 rounds. It will just be a round to recall between each casting. This encounter has been a problem because I have specialized too much on battlefield control and taken no direct damage spells.
Kzrira Maiwith
Kzrira continues to maintain her position knowing that charging out after the elder rogue will just put her in harms way.

31HP, sickened. Why don't we just advance a number of rounds until the swarm ends or something come in after us because obviously nobody else wants to try to.go in there ane combats take long enougb on PBP without roleplaying 10 rounds of waiting.
Kzrira Maiwith
I agree, if I had a pile of armor and a big weapon, I would join you to attack, but right now, I think that our only real option is waiting.
I also agree that if we can jump forward a few rounds, that would be preferably. The Magic Circle Against Evil has a duration of 1 hour (10 min/level) so we should be able to easily wait out the summoned swarm.
Sheik Voodoo
It can be done.
The pit spits out its inhabitants and Kzrira sees the giant hyena leap at the door before it is called back. There are yells and shouts obscured by the persistent buzzing of the fiendish flies. Amir grits his teeth in impatient and impotent rage.
Kzrira can take a readied shot against the dire hyena.
Finally after several minutes, the swarm disperses and all is quiet once again. A deep and thoroughly evil voice is heard outside the labyrinth, "Oh, I know of you Lioness. My witch whore has told me of you and your pretty elf foreigner and your fat old merchant and skirted boy wizard. Lioness? Ha! I think you are a snail. Come out of your shell, worm! I grow weary of waiting!"
Kzrira Maiwith
Readied shot: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (9) + 13 = 22
Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Kzrira unleashes a single arrow at the dire hyena.
------
It is sad that one as great as you claim to be waits skulking in the shadows. I would think you would be the one to lead the charge to slay the great Lioness.
She then turns to Karethas and quietly says.
Can you cast light on an arrow. I can fire it and see if we can see more.
Kzrira Maiwith
Seeing her arrow brighten, Kzrira fires it into the chamber.
Kzrira fires it in the middle of the room. Not sure whether you want an attack roll. If she sees any gnolls or hyenas, she will immediately fire at it. I know that Light only has a radius of 20', 40' with lesser illumination. But, I figure that as with a candle, it will make anything in the area visible where the arrow lands, albeit with partial concealment due to the distance/lighting.
Sheik Voodoo
The arrow flies into the center of the great chamber revealing that Karethas' spells have passed, but no gnolls are seen. Likely, they are clustered near the doors and out of line of sight.
"Very well Cowardly Lioness, the Witch's plague flies have failed to chase you out. I will show you both how a man deals with an frightened snail- crush it between two stones!"

Karethas mutters to himself, "This 'king' has more patience than I had anticipated."
Well, he is smarter than a trog and it doesn't help speed things up when you block the way with a huge hole... ;)
I'll throw up a map so you can position yourselves and give Kzrira something to shoot.

Attack-rapid shot: 1d20 + 13 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 13 - 2 = 24

Both shots strike home, hopefully causing the thing to slow down.

The injured dire hyena bursts through the remaining door cackling as it rushes forward. Kzrira quickly plugs it with a pair of shots. Amir steps forward spinning to meet the beast as it charges forward. Simin is too low, but Shimin lodges directly in the great hyena's throat and it falls gagging blood.
Faelar begins his song in counterpoint to Karethas' summoning spell. There is the scratching of claw on stone behind the magic wielders as another giant hyena rounds the corner with a gnoll mounted on it. Shouts in gnoll echo in the labyrinth.
The archer behind the now fallen hyena hurls something at Kzrira. She only gets a glimpse of a rotting human head before it strikes her bursting in a spray of carrion and tiny stinging scorpions.

From your description, there is one gnoll archer (head thrower) in front of us, and a hyena riding gnoll behind.
Kzrira turns around and fires three quick shots at the hyena coming up behind Karethas and Faelar.
You gotta be faster than that to fool the Lioness.

Karethas finishes his spell with a flourish and an earth elemental surges out of the floor of the passageway. It charges the hyena mount with a roar sounding like stone grating on stone. Meanwhile, Karethas turns around and summons a large ball of water directly on top of the gnoll archer.

As the giant hyena attempts to squeeze by, Kzrira sends a trio of arrows at it. One is deflected by the newly erected statue, but two sink into the beast.
