Thandion follows Aressa before turning to the rest of the party "Can we leave the deep philosophical discussions until later, I'm trying to concentrate on where and when the goblins are going try to kill us."

Updated map

You quickly find yourself in an open tower with another set of doors on the west wall, and an open flight of stairs leading up 30' to a trapdoor in the ceiling. It occurs to you that the goblins probably did not build this place originally as the doors are built for regular sized humans.

Male Human Summoner 3 (Pavro HP 25/25; AC 18/12/16; F +2 R +3, W +2, Init +2, Perception -1) (Aressa HP 24/24; AC 22/12/20; F +4 R +5, W +0; Init +2; Perception +6)

Is the trapdoor accessed via the stair or a ladder?

A set of open stairs that wrap around the edge of the tower.

Male Human Summoner 3 (Pavro HP 25/25; AC 18/12/16; F +2 R +3, W +2, Init +2, Perception -1) (Aressa HP 24/24; AC 22/12/20; F +4 R +5, W +0; Init +2; Perception +6)

Aressa leads the way to the top of the stairs, before looking to Thandion and then at the trapdoor,

"I don't have hands so you will need to lead the way here."

Pavro looks slightly embarrassed from further down the stairs but evidently has no desire to move to the fore and open the trapdoor for his eidolon.

Male Elf (Tower Elf) Magus 3 AC 16/12/14 / HP 30/30 / F +4 R +3 W +2 / Init. +2 / Perc. +0 Arcane Pool 2/5

Thandion smiles and opens the trap door. "After you my lady."

Male Human Summoner 3 (Pavro HP 25/25; AC 18/12/16; F +2 R +3, W +2, Init +2, Perception -1) (Aressa HP 24/24; AC 22/12/20; F +4 R +5, W +0; Init +2; Perception +6)

Pavro chuckles and Aressa huffs imperiously leaping through the trapdoor up onto the roof, presumably.

Two dead goblins later, you have cleared the western guard tower.

Right then.. moving along. Marcoul cheerfully utters while stepping over the corpse of the dead goblin. Oh! Lets not forget, the sheriff is paying us that bounty still, so be sure to collect the ears of the way down.

M Tengu Gunslinger (Pistolero) 3 / HP 20/22, NLD 0, Grit 1/4, AC 17, Touch 15, Flat 12, F +2, R +7, W +5 / Init +6 (+4 if no grit left), Perc +13, low-light vision

Did we end up on the roof?

Where to next? Avian says, looking out any windows (or off the side of the tower, if we are on the roof). He'll search for any sign of more goblin movement outside since they entered the western tower.

Perception check: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20

You see two very unhappy looking goblins looking back at you from the other tower. Otherwise, you see no movement.

I'll get a post up that covers a bit of the mundane exploration later tonight when I get a chance to sit down and type it up.

Going through the other doors of the tower, you find a hallway with another boarded up door on the north wall, and a set of double doors to the east. Hearing sounds from the other side of the double doors, you decide to check out the other doors in the courtyard. One door on the south side of the courtyard leads to a rather mundane storage area with the only real thing of interest being the cage holding a bunch of rabbits; the other door on the south wall yields noises on the other side, and you think it's probably the same room as the double doors in the earlier hallway. The door on the northern wall leads to a hallway that wraps around and reveals several more doors, one that leads to a latrine and stairs down, one that leads to a meeting room of sorts, and the third on the eastern end is locked with signs that someone is on the other side doing their best to stay quiet.

Updated Map (Ignore the goblin and goblin dogs; they are leftovers from earlier that didn't get removed.)

Male Human Cleric of Asmodeus (Evangelist) 3 AC 19/17/13 / HP 24 / F +6 R +4 W +8 / Init. +2 / Perc. +4)

Well it would seem we have several options. Do we go down into the depths or explore the room that someone is hiding in. There is also the double doors that were barred. What do you all say?

Male Human Summoner 3 (Pavro HP 25/25; AC 18/12/16; F +2 R +3, W +2, Init +2, Perception -1) (Aressa HP 24/24; AC 22/12/20; F +4 R +5, W +0; Init +2; Perception +6)

"Double doors I say."

Male Elf (Tower Elf) Magus 3 AC 16/12/14 / HP 30/30 / F +4 R +3 W +2 / Init. +2 / Perc. +0 Arcane Pool 2/5

"Sounds good." Thandion say walking back to the double doors.

Why not? Avian says in assent as he heads to the doors.

Male Human Scholar 3 (HP 18/23, AC 17/16/11, F+1 R+5 W+6 (+1 vs divine), Init +2, Perc +9, +1 to find traps)

Severus follows the others, quietly, still contemplating the topics of their previous discussion. He also looks out for devious traps and false footing in their progression.

Will get a combat post up this evening after work as you find several goblins waiting for you.

The party returns to the double doors and pops them open to find a welcoming party in what appears to be a trophy room. The floor of this room is hard-packed soil, as if the builders either ran out of lumber after building the walls and roof, or as if they simply never thought about building a floor. A number of poorly preserved horse and dog heads are mounted along the eastern wall, while along the southern wall
hangs a pair of large black-feathered wings tacked to the wall with daggers. You see a large barred set of double doors, a door you are pretty sure leads to the courtyard, and several other doors along the north wall. Of immediate importance, though, is the 6 goblin guards and their commander standing by to deal with any intruders.

Aressa snarls and hurks herself at the goblins before her, sinking her teeth into one, but her claws both flailing wildly and missing.

Pavro moves forward in front of Marcoul and attempts to daze one of the goblins on the far side of the room with a chanted spell,

That's Aressa. She's a sphinx with the head of a haughty dark haired woman - with fangs. There do seem to be 8 goblins though, but I'm guessing we cannot see some of them?

Avian and Severus both miss their targets as Pavro's target shakes off the daze spell with a bit of effort. Thandion is a bit more successful; while he doesn't kill the goblin, he does give it a good scare and a nasty scar. The apparent leader of this group of goblins tries to shoot past the other goblins and buries his arrow in the corner pillar. Vors finishes off the goblin injured goblin handily, reducing the number of foes by one.

Round 1
Foul creatures! Marcoul barks, pointing with his mace towards the scattering goblins. You will rue the day that you attacked Sandpoint. I consecrate your souls to Asmodeus, may you burn in his eternal fires

SA: Sermonic Performance: Inspire Courage +1 (Su) Morale bonus on some saving throws, attack and damage rolls; Free Action: End Performance: Effects will last two more rounds due to Lingering Performance. (5 rounds remaining)
MA: Copycat: Create an illusory double of yourself as a move action. This double functions as a single mirror image and lasts for a number of rounds equal to your cleric level (3), or until the illusory duplicate is dispelled or destroyed. (5 uses remaining today)

As Marcoul provides a brief moment of inspiration, one of the goblins moves up to fill the gap as the others move to positions that attempt to make crude use of tactics. Three goblins engage in melee as the the others fall back and spread out and ready to fire their crossbows should an opening appear. All three goblins in melee miss, with the attack on Thandion bouncing off his armor, and the two on Aressa missing wildly, and resulting in one of the blades snapping in half as the goblin buries in the door post and tries to pull it out unsuccessfully. Aressa responds by killing one of the goblins attacking her, and finds 3 crossbow bolts buried in the doorpost next to her as the archers find what they think is an opening, but miss horribly.

I had noted Aressa's attack but was waiting for Marcoul's action to see if Aressa managed to kill it or not. We are now at the beginning of round 2.

Ah I see, was assuming Aressa and Pavro were on the same init.

Pavro attempts to daze one of the crossbow wielding goblins again while Aressa pounces forward snarling to plough into their ranks targeting their leader if she can.

Vors snaps off another shot at the next goblin in the doorway, hoping to drill a hole so his allies can press the attack.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21 Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 hp

M Tengu Gunslinger (Pistolero) 3 / HP 20/22, NLD 0, Grit 1/4, AC 17, Touch 15, Flat 12, F +2, R +7, W +5 / Init +6 (+4 if no grit left), Perc +13, low-light vision

Avian fires another pistol shot on the goblin 10 feet ahead, then reloads once more.

Attack Roll: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Damage Roll: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Pavro successfully dazes a goblin crossbowman and Severus follows it up with some minor damage. Avian tries to down the goblin in front of Thandion, but fails to adjust his aim for the creature's small size and the bullet goes right over it's head; fortunately, it provides enough of a distraction to give Thandion an opening for a blow that drops the goblin hard. The leader of this group attempts to shoot another arrow at Aressa, but only succeeds in pinning another arrow into the wooden post beside her. Vors is able to drop the last remaining goblin in melee, despite the corner beam.

Map has been updated, Marcoul is up.

Will get a post up later today. Just coming off of several 10+ hour days, and have one more quick shift before I enter my "weekend" phase of the week, where I only work 5 hours a night instead of all day.

Marcoul drops the dazed goblin with a crossbow bolt as the goblin crossbowmen prepare another volley of bolts to send toward Aressa, and this time, one of them even gets lucky and hits, causing a minor scratch. Aressa retaliates by taking a short step towards the nearest one, and killing it with one of her claws. Another volley of arrows and a flurry of sphinx attacks later and the remaining goblins are dead. A quick search of the bodies reveals nothing of interest on them, as the weapons and armor are at best average, and at worst, ready to fall apart. You now have your choice of doors to explore. One door leads to the courtyard. The double doors open up to a short hallway that ends in another set of double doors, which are locked. The other doors open up to the other tower, a stairwell going down, and a barracks. The other tower also has a door going north.

Well that was exciting. Marcoul mutters while scoffing at the goblin corpses. Sure you don't want to take a few prisoner, Thandion? Marcoul quips before walking into open area. Courtyard? Marcoul asks, gesturing towards the doors with his crossbow.

"Well I think we should probably clear this level, or at least check everything out before we go down. Don't want to be fighting on two fronts. How about we check the tower, then the barracks, then deal with the locked doors?"

Very well then Pavro, as usual you show excellent foresight.

The tower is empty, as is the barracks. You suspect those places are where the welcoming committee was gathered from.

"I'm sure those in charge will satisfy the people of Sandpoint without dragging back every goblin, particularly since it would hard to prove any crimes for these ones. Sorry Pavro the only locks I use I have the key as well."

Male Human Scholar 3 (HP 18/23, AC 17/16/11, F+1 R+5 W+6 (+1 vs divine), Init +2, Perc +9, +1 to find traps)

"A lock? Of what quality? I might try my hand at the device; if it is shoddy enough, my efforts might even prove useful."

Severus moves forward to examine the locks on the double doors.

He draws out his masterwork tools and sets to work dislodging the holding mechanism.

Severus seems to have a good handle on it. Avian says, nodding at Severus's look of calm expectance that the lock will open. If by chance he fails, I could try shooting the lock to try to break it.

The lock easily opens under the deft guidance from Severus's hands.

Will get the next post up later tonight; need to take care of getting stuff ready for moving for a bit first.

You open the doors to find a large open room. This large throne room is decorated with hanging furs along its walls, mostly black-and-red striped
firepelt skins, various dog pelts, and in some cases, what look like horse hides. Four square timbers support the ceiling, their faces studded
with dozens of iron spikes, with the lower reaches decorated with dozens of impaled and severed hands in various stages of decay. To the northeast, a wooden platform supports a throne heaped with dog pelts and horse hides. Dog skulls adorn the armrests and a horse skull leers over the throne’s back. There are several doors along the various walls as well. Current occupants that you can see are what appears to be an advisor standing behind the throne, the chief mounted on a giant gecko standing next to the throne, and 2 well armed guards flanking the dias. While they are all obviously ready to strike, they do not do so immediately. One of the guards speaks up, "In the name of the warchief, I demand that you state your business here."

Snorting, Marcoul shakes his head. Such temerity these goblins had, speaking to their betters so. Nudging Pavro, Marcoul quietly whispers. May as well do your bit, We can kill them after but any information might be useful. Don’t rope us into any deals like last time through, all right?

"We're here because you slinky little bastards are up to something with some other humans, and because members of your tribe particpated in a raid upon my home!
