Alset Kirk
Round 1 : HP 25/25 : Lay on Hands 2/2 : Smite Evil 1/1
I have time, so I'll post a bit out of turn.
Alset moves next to Odie and the creature.
If Ood kills the second creature, Alset will heal Odie with the Wand of CLW. Alset tells Stonewall, "Grab the cat," while pointing at it. To Odie, Hold still while I heal you."
Heal: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
HP recovery: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
If Ood does not kill the second creature, Alset will attack with his longsword, then use this CLW on Odie after the creature is dispatched.

Ood misses, his feet slipping in the rushing waters. Alset and Stonewall slice and dice the elemental into nothing, like cutting frogs eggs with a guillotine.
800 XP. Stonewall got the final blow. I can't update the sheet currently.
The cat continues mewling under the cart, but should prove no trouble to extract.
Odie Ross
Odie extracts the cat from under the cart, and brings her back to her person.
Over his shoulder, he says to the group:
"Can one of you check the water for loot? Maybe they left us something good, but I don't want to lose this cat again."
Kargold "Stonewall"Steelpounder
"I'm not wandering around the water during this, it was a water elemental, what would it be carrying. Let's just get this ugly thing back to the bard and be done."
GM Mervikoth
1 person marked this as a favorite.
The cat is as described: heavy and floppy, ginger with stripes, and with a look on her face more sour than a lemon and lime mix. She claws at Odie until he puts her under his poncho. The rain is so strong you have trouble thinking of new adjectives to describe it. Under the cart is nothing but rotted fish; everything else in the street has been washed away by the flood.
Maso lights up with joy upon seeing his cat. "Oh there you are precious, your majesty, yes yes I love you too." he says as Pharaoh Mafdet brushes against him, purring. "Thank you so much. I don't know what I would have done if she'd gotten lost."
He takes off his boots and hands them to whoever is closest. "Here, take these as my thanks. I won't really be needing them, ha ha. They're Boots of the Cat."
Maso Wangoma stands up, with the help of his crutches, wobbling uneasily with the added weight of the cat. With your help he makes way through the storm to the Countinghouse of Abadar, where a dozen other cats and half the town sit huddled in the temple.
+1 Preparation Point. Total PP: 13.
Lightning seems to be flashing very close on your way, the thunder booming the same instant as the lightning strikes. Sheriff Adaela awaits at the Stone Hall.
1000 XP for rescuing all 3 stragglers from the storm!
Alset Kirk
Alset, wary from his last bad experience at drying off, attempts to dry off again.
Survival: toweling off: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Alset is dry and happy that he has survived the dreaded towel. He speaks to his new companions who are fast becoming friends, "This storm ought to give our halfling plenty of time to learn common. What else will he have to do in this miserable storm?
Alset takes out his pipe, fills it with crushed tobacco leaves, and lights it. He lifts he bare feet up on the fireplace hearth and asks Adaela, "So, Sheriff Adaela, what else might you be needing from us to help prepare Pridon Heath for the rest of the coming deluge? Do we have time for our clothes and gear to dry a little?" he says with a warm, smokey smile.
GM Mervikoth
Alset whips the towel around his body like a master dryer-offer. Muhdzuzi finds the party in the crowded Stone Hall and comes over with a tired smile on his face.
"Hello," Mud says in heavily accented Common. He puts his hand over his heart and bows his head, saying "Thank you."
You can tell he has spent a lot of time trying to learn the correct pronunciation of those three words. He relaxes his shoulders after speaking and moves on to another conversation with other halflings in Polyglot.
As Alset relaxes in front of the fire, the guard Farad from the troll attack earlier says, "Sheriff's not here."
Ood Ironforged
Ood wonders over to the fire to dry as able, not particularly uncomfortable in his tunic and pants. "Where has she gone?"
Ood glances around the room what is the mood in this room with the sheriff gone...
perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
Kargold "Stonewall"Steelpounder
Stonewall leans against the wall and rests his tower shield against his leg as he waits for a response.
GM Mervikoth
The mood is antsy and concerned. The citizens are glad the four of you are back, as well as the stragglers, but there seems to be something more than just this storm bothering them. Cracks of thunder echo across the settlement. Through the windows you can plainly see these strikes of lightning touching down around the northern barricades of Island Town.
"There's some kind of unnatural force directing the lightning," Farad says, his face grave. "The sheriff went to investigate, but she hasn't come back since you left."
The citizens gathered in the Stone Hall are nervous and worried. The few children inside are crying with each successive lightning strike. Everyone is wet and bedraggled, exhausted from a day of preparation and a night of chaos.
Alset Kirk
Alset jumps up and begins to put on his still damp clothes, armor, and weapons.
"Odie, I'm with you. Saving the day is what Paladins do. Did Adaela take anyone with her?"
I made it to D.C. and can post a little.
GM Mervikoth
The lightning strikes with startling regularity. Out in the storm the winds and the rain lash against you as you head back to Island Town, heads down and cloaks pulled tight against the weather. Bright flashes of white make the way easy to see.
Atop the barricades stands a lizardfolk with arms outstretched towards the heavens, lightning flashing around her. Her cloak swirls with each blast, the raindrops flying outward as the lightning arcs through the sky, illuminating dark clouds above. Her belt is lined with severed heads, pruned and contorted into horrified expressions. Three other lizardfolk stand at the base of the barricade armed with morningstars and javelins. At their feet is a figure in a red jacket, unconscious or possibly dead.
Alset: She is radiating EVIL.

The map has been updated. The jungle tiles are difficult terrain. The crates you will have to climb up, and they are 5-10' tall, Climb DC 10.
When moving on top of the crates, you will need to roll an Acrobatics check to keep from toppling the crates and yourself over, Acrobatics DC 10. Success means you can move at half speed but are considered flat-footed and lose your Dex bonus to AC. If you fail by 5, you fall prone. If you fail by more than 5, you fall off the crates.
The structure is a solid structure, 15' tall, and does not require Acrobatics to move across, but does require a Climb check. If climbing from the crates it is a DC 10, 5' up. If from the ground, it is DC 15, 15' up.

Round 1 | HP 25/25 | Bolts 10/10 | Acid Bolts 4/4 | Smite Evil 1/1 | Layon Hands (heal) 2/2
Alset will detect evil, and apparently knows that there is great evil emanating from Reszavass. "Let's take out one of the two side guards and then, I'll Smite Evil on the arrogant, evil lizardfolk on the barricades. Shall we go south through easier terrain or east where the jungle trees and shrubs are thicker?" After thinking for a moment, he suggests, "Odie, why don't you use your speed and take out the east lizardfold minion. While, the dwarves and I take out the south minion. We'll meet you in the middle on top. First one there gets to take out the third minion and the big bad boss lady. I am ready to call on the power of Iomeade against this one."
Alset moves south and fires a crossbow bolt at the southern most lizardfolk.
Crossbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Alset drops the crossbow and pulls out his longsword. He's unsure why he keeps trying to use the crossbow. Up close and personal is his way when it comes to bringing people religion and death to evil creatures.

Round 1
HP 20/20
Stonewall charges toward the southern Lizardfolk drawing his terbutje and swinging as he approaches.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
In his hurry, the Lizardfolk sees the swing coming and handily dodges I assume
Since Odie asked before GM posted, I say he gets healed...
P.S. Where is Adaela? Can she be put on the map?
P.P.S. Odie ended up with the boots but that might be contested later.
GM Mervikoth
Round 1, Reszavass and Lizardfolk
The southern lizardfolk dodges the bolt and the terbutje easily. He is at home in the rain and the swamps as anywhere else, though the use of a terbutje surprises him. He draws his own terbutje, tongue slithering out of his toothy smile. He shouts in harsh Draconic,
The four lizardfolk laugh, the sound of sand on a tin roof.
Reszavass points to the ground behind the party and speaks softly, and as she does the roots and vines of the jungle burst from the soil, tendrils clinging to the party's legs and wrapping around their feet.

Stonewall: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Alset is Entangled. Alset can break free with a Strength of Escape Artist check, DC 13. The entangled area on the map is difficult terrain. If you end your turn in the area, you must make a Reflex save or risk being Entangled.
The westernmost lizardfolk attacks Stonewall in melee. The middle and topmost lizardfolk throw a javelins at Alset and Ood, respectively.
Terbutje/Bite on Stonewall: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 191d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 191d10 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 61d4 ⇒ 4

Ood rushes the southward lizardman and positions himself for a punch opposite Stonewall.
"We can do this!"
Kargold "Stonewall"Steelpounder
Ood, that javelin missed. so you shouldn't be down any HP I don't think.
Round 2
HP 20/20
Stonewall sees the recognition in their eyes when they see the terbutje and says something in Polyglot that the others don't understand,
I figure it would be more fun if his Polyglot was awful for a little bit, good luck understanding him even if they know polyglot.
Stonewall takes a swing at the Lizardfolk after he deflects the attacks with his shield.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Attack: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
The jaggedy bits of the terbutje bite into the Lizardfolk warrior as it connects.

4-Lizardfolk
5-Ood
6-Odie
Stonewall hits the lizardfolk for 6 damage.
Alset can use a Strength check to break free (+3 instead of -3). And it is only a move action, so he can do the check again.
2nd Str check for Alset: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Alset rips the roots from his boots. Unfortunately, he doesn't have any more actions...
I forgot Stonewall speaks Polyglot now! You can talk with Mud! And these lizardfolk too! Pretend they spoke Polyglot earlier instead of Draconic.
Reszavass hears the dwarf through the thunder and rain, her yellow eyes widening their vertical pupils slightly.
A wave of cold shoots from Reszavass's outstretched hand and weaves its way to Stonewall's tower shield.
Stonewall Will DC 14 (It's a spell, so +3!): 1d20 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 1 + 3 = 20
His shield feels chilly and uncomfortable, but Stonewall shakes it off easily. That was the spell Chill Metal. It failed.
Everyone in the Entangle spell must make another Reflex save.

Deep roots curl around Odie and Stonewall, entangling their boots up to their knees in lush tropical vines.
The two easternmost lizardfolk move into flanking positions, the southernmost one moving into the entanglement.
S Lizardfolk Ref DC 13: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (7) + 0 = 7
He is tripped up by the thick foliage as well and is entangled. The two now flank Odie and swing their morningstars and chomp their teeth at the barbarian. Their teeth snap menacingly but ineffectively, while their morningstars clap against him simultaneously like a pair of mallets on a drum.
Morningstar/Claw, x2; +flank -entangle; both morningstars hit: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 4 - 2 = 201d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 - 2 = 111d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 151d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 51d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 41d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Odie takes 9 damage.
The west lizardfolk strikes at Stonewall and misses, fear showing in his face now that he is surrounded and bleeding. He shoots a glance at Reszavass for help but receives no sympathy from the druid.

Alset hits the WL and prepares to move to aid Odie, either by healing or attacking the nearest LF.
GM Mervikoth
Ood calmly kills the lizardfolk nearest to him, and with a shout of rage Odie does the same.
Alset moves to flank the S lizardfolk with Odie. Stonewall plants his shield as a boost to Ood on Ood's next turn.

4-Lizardfolk
"Metal conducts electricty," Reszavass says and shoots a small arc of lightning from her fingertips at Stonewall. The bolt zaps through his armor, shocking him for 2 lightning damage.
The lizardfolk rages against Odie for killing his ally and hits the wild-eyed half-orc for 5 damage.
The vines quicken again, wrapping around Stonewall, Alset, and Odie. Unless Alset moves one more square with an AoO. I think he has the moves for that, at least.

800 XP. You don't lose more PP. Yay!
The druid's belt of severed heads and few other possesions are scattered on top of the rain-slicked shed. There is a Brooch of Shielding, a wand of cure moderate wounds (8 charges), and masterwork leather armor. The other lizardfolk have only their weapons.
If you check on Adaela, she quickly recovers with a casting from a wand of cure or a paladin's lay on hands. I'm assuming one of you use this on her.
She looks up at the sky. The lightning is no longer striking in one location, their flashes now far off and more regular. The stormclouds are still pouring down rain, however, and likely will for the rest of the night.
"What happened?" she asks, still groggy. "The lightning was gathering at this point, but before I could get close three lizardfolk rushed me from the shadows and beat me unconscious."
