It was a strange thing, to see something as small as dwarf surrounded by so many giants. One would expect that whatever was underneath so many massive blows would quickly cease to exist. It was excusable, then, to be surprised when the cries of pain and the spraying of blood was coming from the giants, and not the dwarf. While certainly not unscathed, the dwarf was doing far more damage to the giants than they were doing to him.

"Cunning and adaptable, you've overcome competent minions and have show yourself not to be faint of heart. I am the last Runelord, bend the knee and wealth beyond your imagining, both physical and arcane, will be yours. Your squat allies and the others would even have a place."
"Or you can choose to die." The last words are spoken in common with precision. Then Creydon's face returns to one of horror as he comes to terms with his temporary possession.

"That didn't sound friendly. Was he askin' us to kill him?" A blood covered Drazh asked. Even as he spoke, his familiar poked it's head out of his pack and began to prestidigitate him clean.
Azalia |
No. He said that if we join him he'll give us "wealth beyond imagining" and lots of magical power... and he called you squat.
... I wonder how much wealth he is talking about. Does the world end if we let him win? I forget.
Drazh Anviltamer |
"Sure ye got that translation right? Mayhaps his language's word for 'handsome' and 'squat' just sound similar." He said with a smile. "And besides. If we kill him, then we get everythin' he was goin' to pay us and everythin' that he wasn't. Oh...and we get to save the world?" He added.
Azalia |
Oh, yeah, that's true. Less magic maybe, but more money. I like the way you think. ... And yeah, maybe I got that translation wrong. Thassalonian... tough language.
She grins.
Oh, he also said the other choice was death. But by "death" maybe he meant "even MORE wealth beyond imagining" ... yeah, I think I must have been confused.
Marten Daseto |
"The TRUE meaning of his words is that we're getting close and he's worried. Otherwise, he has no reason to tell us that he knows we're coming."

She selects one of the rings from the giants. "Charming." She slides it into her finger, testing to see if it will magically adapt to the size of her hand.
Azalia |
... Yeah, I guess. And anyway, I don't think he understands how much wealth I can imagine.

The interior of this dazzling chamber is awash in golden light—it shines from every gem, every strip of gold, and every silver-inlaid wall carving, creating a kaleidoscope of color and riches. The checkerboard pattern on the floor is interrupted in a twenty-foot-wide path from the northeastern doors to a throne on a dais of onyx to the southwest by a path of what appear to be countless rubies, forming a “red carpet” of sorts to the throne itself.
This throne, if possible, makes the rest of the chamber’s extravagance seem pale and poor, for it is made of shining gold, diamonds, rubies, and sapphires, and draped with shimmering, glowing furs from unrecognizable creatures.
The cloud giants stand guard here. A human woman clad in baroque golden armour sits upon the throne and draws an exquisite golden sword. She call out in common. "You dare defile the Master's domain with your presence? You shall die for your impudence."
