Broccan squeezes and twists, then with punching new holes in the straps and working the straps he is able to get a proper fit on the armor.....
Thought that was a good off label use of the survival skill
Time passes as you take watches and the hobgoblins remain outside, unable or unwilling to attempt to breach the doors....
be sure to heal some and recover spells.....
Might carefully consider those spells.....

Erine spends a good portion of the night talking to Goat. She's not talking in Common, but she looks strained.
Spells:
No change in cantrips.
1st level spells: Obscuring Mist, Summon Monster I, Mage Armor
2nd level spells: Vomit Swarm, Vomit Swarm
Where are we on the maps?
When Erine wakes up from a short rest, she gets up and heads to the door. "Maybe, Goat. We'll talk to them when they get up."
Edrukk Thorvirgun
Perception (to wake up) 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Edrukk wakes up quickly enough, but he doesn't move at first, taking in where he's at and who's talking to him for just a moment. Then he sits up and faces the gnomish witch.
Whispering, "Sounds good t' me, lass. Tell me yer idee."

"Alright. Well, Goat's learned a spell for me that...summons a swarm of spiders. So I cast a mist spell--like Sanstree's spell, but a bit more effective--and send two swarms of spiders in one of the hallways. The spiders can sense things on the ground, so the mist won't bother them. They'll only be around for about a quarter-minute, but that should be long enough to do some damage, and we should be able to mop up what's left without getting shot much."
Erine pulls out a small candle and fiddles with it. "That's what we'll do for one hallway, but we should, erm, deal with both. Otherwise they'll follow us, and we could get surprised later. So I summon a...well, I summon a celestial pony, and have it charge down the other hallway. Not literally charge, though, because of the barricades. The pony can take the crossbow bolts, and then we--or you guys--can rush in and deal with them before they have time to draw their swords.
"What do you think?"

Canvy slowly rises, seeing Erine and Edruuk is quiet conversation. he rises slowly stretching and yawning, "Morning all, any breakdast?" Slowly his mind attunes to their situation, "Ohh! hang on a minute...where were we? Is there anything you want me to ask Lam.... I mean anything I should ask the gods?"
Invitation to ask for any special prayers to help.

"Ye been thinkin', lass. Yer celestial pony - 't won't be a problem usin' 't like 'is, right? Not fer wantin' t' anger a god, 'ere. Don' forget - since we be controllin' th' pits, we 'ave 'n extry weapon 'n th' main 'all. 'r non-fightin' friends c'n be controllin' 't fer us."
To Canvy, "Pr'aps som'thin' like th' lass 's thinkin', c'n ye brin' 'n som'thin' t' fight fer us - 'r Broccan's idee o' som'thin' t' protect us. Me own gifts 'r fer 'elpin' us - prob'ly ye 'n Broccan - fight better, n' so much protect ye."

Oversight on my part: Edrukk would have channeled energy to heal the party and the prisoners before calling it a night. Can we retcon that in, or is it too late?
"Ah'm thinkin' t' make Broccan bigger 'n make th' two o' ye warriors stronger. Ah'm n' t' sure 'bout fightin' 'n t' fronts, lass. D'ye think we c'n be fer fightin' one group 't a time? Would yer plan still work 'en?"
"Ah'm thinkin' Ah could be callin' a wee Earth elemental int' yer mist, t'. 'e would not be 'ere long, but 'e might do some good, 't that. Mostly, though, I'm thinkin' t' be 'ealin' th' warriors."

"Edrukk when yer bigger tha normal ye could jus step over them walls theve built an could even take someone with ye."
"Aye, but tha' long-legged one, 'ere, 'e'll 'ave a better time o' 'at, so Ah'm a-gonna put the magic 'n 'im, instead.
I'm thinking Edrukk needs to be a little less combatant and lot more support for the other two.
"Erine, which door 'r ye thinkin' we should be goin' through first?"
Erine Wintyle
"So, I'm gonne grow big from th'magic, then go straight'in and star' hack'n 'em, right?"
"After I send in the pony, which should be able to take a few crossbow bolts and even do some damage. Once it's cleared the way, you should follow."
Erine Wintyle
"I ken add a horse tah tha as well or an eagle tah fly bove an help as best it ken."
Sounds like a plan is coming together!
Technically, he can't summon a horse. Summon Nature's Ally 1 would just allow for another pony.
"An eagle's probably better. It's trickier to hit, even if it's more frail, and it can get over the barricades. How long can your conjurations last?"| Erine Wintyle |
"A bit longer than they used to."
two rounds......The horse was the spell "mount" not SNA.., eagle works though...
Probably for the best. Summoned mounts don't fight, and the horse wouldn't be able to maneuver around the barricades.

Canvy suggests he rides the mount and calls upon the power of his mother to aid their plight. "Let my mother help us, I can ride into their midst and bring death to them. You follow out once I've finished."
A little negative energy to bring some of the enemy down, I'll put a shield of faith up before I go.
Edrukk Thorvirgun
"'is mudder?"
Louder, "If'n ye wish, but 'fore ye go, let me be fer lendin' ye a bit o' Gorum's strength fer th' fight."
Planning on the following buffs from Edrukk:
Bull's Strength for Canvy
Enlarge Person for Broccan
Bull's Strength for Broccan
Bless for the party
If Edrukk gets into the mix, he will cast Magic Weapon and Divine Favor on himself, probably holding them for the second hallway unless things are dicey in the first battle.

"No need for you to get killed twice, Canvy. Wait until the pony's taken a few bolts before following.
"Plus, I wouldn't recommend riding a horse. Too much risk of it tripping over something."This is Erine's opinion. Metagaming-wise, there's no risk of the horse tripping, so it doesn't much matter. :P
Erine Wintyle
Erine lights the candlestick with the cantrip, and rotates it slowly, allowing the wax to drip down. A small puddle forms, and she begins chanting in an old dialect of Draconic. The wax begins to build up, sculpting itself into the likeness of a very small horse.
"Your name is Pony," Erine says to the figurine. She pulls from her pouch a small bag, and places Pony inside.
The gnome witch sighs, putting the bag away. "He'll appear in about six seconds on the other side of that door. Sanstree had better start casting."
By the way, Erine isn't 'creating' the creature, nor is she naming it. I would compare the wax figure to an effigy: It's made to summon the pony, but it's not the pony itself.
The pony is named Pony because that is the name Erine sought out. Given all the celestial planes, it seemed likely that somewhere there was a celestial pony named Pony.

"Don't come within 30ft for a moment or two, whilst I bring her retribution upon these creatures." Canvy reads a prayer from a holy script quietly to himself as he gathers himself ready to jump out the door and follow the pony, falchion ready and drawn.

I was assuming we were sending the eagle and Pony forth in the surprise round. Init: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (9) - 1 = 8
On the other side of the door, Pony appears, and gallops down the hallway.
Pony attacks any hobgoblins he sees. Attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (9) - 1 = 8
No point in rolling damage for that.
Also, I don't quite understand the map. Where's the door, where's the eagle, and what is the red? And the yellow and blue.
KenderKin
The yellow was the raised stage, the red is the currently closed trapdoors in the hallway......blue is now gone.....
Surprise round? nope ;( (You know where the hobgoblins are and they know where you are) No surprise round! Sorry ;(
The door is now open and I just removed them from the map, the doorway is directly in front of Broccan and Edrukk.....
I combined the pony/eagle in the form of the pegasus (just for fun!)
Erine Wintyle

Surprise round? nope ;(
Are you saying that there is no surprise round? Because given that we've been here for over 9 hours and haven't shouted our plans, I assumed they'd not be expecting the attack. Of course, I'm not privy to the hobgoblins' own motivations.
On another note, you don't seem to have changed the map at all besides removing the colors.| Broccan Dunchad |
Initiative: 1d20 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 - 1 = 17
Broccan looks down from his towering new height, a guffaws.
"Haw haw! I'm'az big'az n'ogre! An'I feel'az strong!"

Initiative 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Edrukk turns to one of the former hostages, maybe the lass we found working in the smithy (was she a dwarf?) and tells her, "'ave som'un watchin' 's through yon peep'ole. If'n we retreat, open th' pits when we 'r past. We'll be fer takin' care o' any hobgob 'at gets past, but th' pits 'ill be fer slowin' down th' rest."
With that, he draws his greatsword and tells Broccan, "Make m' proud, lad, but don' be fer doin' anythin' stupid. Let me know if'n ye need 'ealin', 'n Ah'll fix ye up."

As the eagle and pony fly/charge down the hallway distracting the hobgoblins to some extent the hobgoblins quickly file in and assume formations blocking the way as seen on the map...
Broccan is up!

*droiding - I'll need someone to roll for me*
"Time t'die, y'smelly bast'rds!"

Erine is up!
Edrukk Thorvirgun
It's nothing to brag about, but Edrukk's initiative was rolled earlier. I didn't see it in the initiative chart.
Were you lads delaying your actions until after Canvy'd made like a negative-energy bomb? Did any of the hobgoblins attack the summoned creatures?
Erine Wintyle
I'm honestly not sure what's going on. I assumed we were sending the summoned critters in to take the hobbos' fire, not as mere support. Still, no plan survives contact with the enemy/crazy warrior allies.
The pony appears and advances, kicking at the nearest hobgoblin.
Attacks: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (15) - 1 = 14 and 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (9) - 1 = 8
Damage for the first attack, if applicable: 1d3 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Having expended her only spell she can spare, Erine sits down nearby and listens to the battle.
That's round 1.
