Kilian fan-Vaylen |
Kilian tries to hit the half-orc as he stands, but the ladder down gets in his way.
PA AoO on Kinore, not including AC penalty for prone target: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
Khamûl Unqualë |
Khamul advances on the half-orc, charging his bonded scythe with arcane power as he swings it! Swift action arcane strike "Leave those people be! Call of your beast!"
mwk scythe: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
damage: 2d4 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4, 4) + 3 + 1 = 12
Aww. So close to another x4 scythe crit, lol!
Jerrik Payne |
Hmm, I guess I'm unarmed since I don't think I'd want to fascinate with a weapon in my hand. I'll have to pass on the AoO I guess.
Action : Jerrik will draw his weapon and try to strike the half-orc! If it provokes, so be it. I'm screwed anyway unless he goes down from the attacks.
Rapier: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 3 + 2 = 18 for Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4
GM - Mark Garringer |
First - AoO
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27 *hit, threat, ouch*
Damage: 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (3, 2) + 3 = 8
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 *no confirm*
Damage: 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (3, 3) + 3 = 9
Takes you exactly to 0 disabled so your attack will cost you. It's your choice, I'm fine either way, but did already include the 4 damage if you go that way.
Jerrik and Khamul both injure the kennel master as Niko moves in behind him!
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22 *hit*
Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Trip: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25 *trip*
The trollhound rushes over to Niko hoping to enjoy more flesh! The beast tears into Niko and then knocks him down! Oh, and a Fort save DC 14 please.
Round 2
Trollhound
Kilian
Kinore (16 damage taken)
Jerrik (disabled)
Niko (prone)
Khamul
Kilian is up!
Kilian fan-Vaylen |
Kilian sidesteps and goes for the trollhound, but misses completely.
PA on trollhound, incl. leaping attack: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 9 + 1 = 11
The dice are not being my friends today :-(.
GM - Mark Garringer |
I forgot to move the trollhound when he attacked Niko, I did now. He'd still be in range of Kilian's attack even though it was a miss.
Kinore moves back into the hold and swings his falchon on the prone Niko!
Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 7 + 4 = 25 *hit*
Damage: 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 1) + 3 = 5
Round 2
Trollhound
Kilian
Kinore (16 damage taken)
Jerrik (disabled)
Niko (prone)
Khamul
Jerrik, Niko and Khamul are up!
From the stern of the hold you smell faint smoke.
Khamûl Unqualë |
Khamul waits for Jerrik to step back (or fall over I guess) before stepping into the detective's place and swinging at the trollhound. "Fire on the ship! Someone see to that now!"
mwk scythe: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
damage (arcane strike): 2d4 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4, 3) + 3 + 1 = 11
Nikomedes Diogenes |
"Son of ....." Niko curses, as he is bit, thrown to the ground like a ragdoll, then chopped with a blade.
I forgot to update Niko's hp header. He is now at 16/31
Flicking his wrist, a wand pops into his and he taps it to himself.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
With a look of determination, Niko stands and tries to take a step to the southwest.
I know it is a YMMV thing, but not sure where you stand with the movement of standing up and a five foot step.
Jerrik Payne |
Jerrik lunges at the enemy then falls down after taking a serious wound. Might as well keep the attack, being unconscious might be the best place for me.
GM - Mark Garringer |
Niko - I hate to just to be clear you but...
Just to be clear, you are going to provoke an AoO for using the spring loaded wrist sheath, and provoke an AoO for standing?
Though I think I can see the logic in allowing a 5' step after standing. I've got no problem with that - assuming you are still alive to do so :)
Nikomedes Diogenes |
Yeah, I suppose. I always forget that even though the spring-loaded is a swift, the language doesn't say it doesn't provoke an AoO. Sigh, do I gamble against Combat Reflexes???
The wise approach would be to stand, 5', swift, then heal, huh? I'll do that. 'Crosses fingers'
GM - Mark Garringer |
Honestly I was hoping one of you had a ref to something that made it clear that it doesn't provoke. Cause it seems really stupid to me that it does...I'll dig a little more before killing you ;)
GM - Mark Garringer |
Trollhound AoO: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9 *miss
Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Trollhound AoO: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 *hit, threat*
Damage: 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (2, 3) + 3 = 8
Trollhound AoO: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22 *confirm*
Damage: 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (2, 3) + 3 = 8
So good news, bad news. That sorta worked out for you. You are up and not dead. Healing yourself should put you at 4 hp?
The trollhound turns its hunger on Khamul!
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12 *miss*
Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Round 3
Trollhound
Kilian
Kinore (16 damage taken)
Jerrik (disabled)
Niko
Khamul
Kilian is up!
Kilian fan-Vaylen |
Kilian goes for the dog again. Guisarme PA: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Wow, two ones in a row? Sucks to be me.
-Posted with Wayfinder
GM - Mark Garringer |
Kinore follows Niko around the corner, swinging his falchion at the wounded Pathfinder knocking him unconscious! Congrats on the Venture-Captain promotion BTW. :)
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Damage: 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 1) + 3 = 5
Round 3
Trollhound
Kilian
Kinore (16 damage taken)
Jerrik (unconscious)
Niko (unconscious)
Khamul
Khamul I guess :)
Khamûl Unqualë |
Uh oh. . . not looking good. . . Although Niko should be back up, right?
Khamul swings his scythe and continues to try to step past the trollhound.
mwk scythe: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
damage: 2d4 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4, 1) + 3 + 1 = 9
Kilian fan-Vaylen |
How many AoOs did the trollhound get on Niko? You rolled two of them, and AIUI he stood and stepped away before drawing the wand and using it. He should only have provoked once, when he stood up, unless the trollhound has Step Up.
GM - Mark Garringer |
Niko you are correct. Yesterday is a blur, sorry. Kilian, it was bad copy/paste. One AoO from the Trollhound and one AoO from Kinore (both were threatening Niko when he stood up).
Round 4
Trollhound
Kilian
Kinore (16 damage taken)
Jerrik (unconscious, stable)
Niko (unconscious)
Khamul
The trollhound continues it's rampage on Khamul!
Bite: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16 *hit*
Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Trip: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
And a DC14 Fort save please.
Kilian is up!
Kilian fan-Vaylen |
Exasperated, Kilian sidesteps towards the stairs, launching a spinning attack on the trollhound that I really really hope leaves it in two pieces on the deck.
PA Guisarme to trollhound, incl. leaping attack: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 9 + 1 = 30
PA Guisarme crit confirm on trollhound, incl. leaping attack: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 9 + 1 = 24
Yeah! Sorry it took so long, guys. I should have had this thing down a turn or two ago.
Damage, incl. crit and leaping attack: 2d4 + 14 + 1 + 4d4 + 28 + 2 ⇒ (3, 4) + 14 + 1 + (3, 1, 4, 1) + 28 + 2 = 61
GM - Mark Garringer |
Khamul's blood burns like fire!
Kilian studies the beasts movements as it attacks Khamul again, and unleashes a powerful blow that indeed slices the thing in two! There is a spray and a wet thump and the beast is silent and unmoving!
Niko stabilize last round: 1d20 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 - 1 = 14
Round 4
Trollhound
Kilian
Kinore (16 damage taken)
Jerrik (unconscious, stable)
Niko (unconscious, stable)
Khamul
Kinore drops his falchion with a clatter, pulling out his longbow and quickly draws and fires two arrows at Khamul! The arrows bust into flame as they streak across the hold at their target!
Arrow 1: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 9 + 1 - 2 = 15 *hit*
Arrow 2: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 9 + 1 - 2 = 18 *hit*
Damage: 1d8 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 1 + 1 + (3) = 11
Damage: 1d8 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 2 + 1 + 1 + (5) = 10
Khamul is up!
Khamûl Unqualë |
At 1 hp though!
Khamul steps away from danger, pulls out a wand, and taps himself.
infernal healing, back to 2 hp. But watch me lose them immediately.
round 1/10
Kilian fan-Vaylen |
Hopefully I'll be drawing his attention shortly.

GM - Mark Garringer |
The port side door opens and a Keleshite woman is dressed in studded leather, holding two ornately decorated kukris in her hands steps into the hold. Her black hair is held out of her face by a faded yellow bandana. She has a dark mole on her left cheek just below her eye. "Off my ship!" she shouts!
Round 5
Kilian
Kinore (16 damage taken)
Jerrik (unconscious, stable)
Niko (unconscious, stable)
Khamul
Kilian is up!
Kilian fan-Vaylen |
Kilian continues his rampage, closing within reach of the half-orc and (I think) landing a glancing blow on him. He glances over at the woman and shakes his head.
Guisarme PA on Kinore, incl. leaping attack: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 9 + 1 = 22
Guisarme PA damage, incl. leaping attack: 2d4 + 14 + 1 ⇒ (2, 1) + 14 + 1 = 18
GM - Mark Garringer |
Kilian moves in and slashes Kinore viciously, only the burning hatred in his orcish blood keeps him on his feet!
Captain Wardak Init: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Kinore spins to face Kilian pulling another flaming arrow and shooting it at the fighter! Provokes!
Attack: 1d20 + 9 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 9 + 1 + 1 = 30
Damage: 1d8 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 1 + 1 + (4) = 10 Assuming you don't kill him first.
If you don't manage to kill him with an AoO he goes down after taking the shot.
The captain pulls a flask off her hip and hurls it at Khamul! Alchemist's fire burns!!!
Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 8 + 2 = 26
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Round 5
Kilian
Kinore (32 damage taken)
Captain Wardak
Jerrik (unconscious, stable)
Niko (unconscious, stable)
Khamul (unconscious)
The upside is that I believe infernal healing will auto-stabilize you?
I think that puts us to Round 6 and Kilian!
Kilian fan-Vaylen |
"Don't do it!" But the half-orc ignores Kilian's warning, and the Andoren cuts him down cleanly before turning to face the captain.
PA AoO on Kinore: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
AoO damage: 2d4 + 14 ⇒ (3, 1) + 14 = 18
GM - Mark Garringer |
Direct hit on Khamul, so all around him. I added a little graphic to the map.
Kilian fan-Vaylen |
"You utter idiot. You're going to burn down your own ship?" Kilian is so startled by Wardak's action that his trip attempt fails. Though at least the fire will shut down the trollhound's regeneration.
Trip attempt, incl. leaping attack: 1d20 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 12 + 1 = 16
Khamûl Unqualë |
Yeah, infernal healing grants fast healing so I think I basically auto-stabilize because I will still continue to heal 1 hp/round.
Drop to -6, heal up to -5
Round 2/10 of IH
GM - Mark Garringer |
Khamul burns for another 1d6 ⇒ 2.
"I plan to be long gone before that happen, dear." she says smugly. She moves close to Kilian slashing with both kukris!
Attack 1: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 7 + 2 = 25
Attack 2: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 7 + 2 = 20
Damage 1: 1d6 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 2 = 9
Damage 2: 1d6 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 2 = 9
Round 7
Kilian
Captain Wardak
Jerrik (unconscious, stable)
Niko (unconscious, stable)
Khamul (unconscious, stable)
Kilian!
Boy, this is a real nail biter! :D
Kilian fan-Vaylen |
Couple of questions: first, was the deck where she's standing damaged by the fire? Second, Kilian has Knowledge (Engineering) and Profession (Marine); does he think he could chop the deck open under her feet in one shot?
GM - Mark Garringer |
I don't think I've seen alchemist's fire doing environmental damage before though it would be a somewhat logical train of thought. Looking at generic 'wood' (hardness 5, 10 hp/in) even the spot with a direct hit would still be in pretty good shape and the splash areas virtually unaffected. Though you could probably just chop through the floor with your crazy damage anyway. The floor is 2 inches thick.
Kilian fan-Vaylen |
Even his max damage wouldn't go through the floor...quite. One more question: how are the slaves secured to the bulkhead? Any places I could sunder a chain w/o a lot of trouble?
GM - Mark Garringer |
Yes, they are currently manacled on short chains (hardness 10, 10 hp, or Break DC 26 or Disable Device (but not in combat)).
The gnome is struggling against her bonds and trying to kick at the captain, but with her hands bound and mouth gagged she's not be particularly effective.
Kilian fan-Vaylen |
Kilian takes a short step back to open up the distance and launches a rapid chop at the slaver. "We're Pathfinders...kill us, and there isn't a hole deep enough to hide you!"
Guisarme PA, incl. leaping attack bonus: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 10 + 1 = 25
PA damage, incl. leaping attack: 2d4 + 14 + 1 ⇒ (4, 3) + 14 + 1 = 22
GM - Mark Garringer |
Taking a vicious stab in the gut, the Captain withdraws back into the room she came from!
Round 8
Kilian
Captain Wardak (22 damage taken)
Jerrik (unconscious, stable)
Niko (unconscious, stable)
Khamul (unconscious, stable)
Kilian!
Kilian fan-Vaylen |
Kilian aims a sunder attempt at the manacles holding the gnome, then steps up and tears away the gnome's gag.
Power sunder: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
Power sunder damage: 2d4 + 14 ⇒ (2, 1) + 14 = 17
Not quite...maybe they'll be damaged enough that she can break them herself.
GM - Mark Garringer |
As soon as the gag comes out, "Ohmygoddesspathfinders!imsogladyouarehere!mynameisrillaimapathfindertoo!wa tchoutforcaptainwardakshesanastyb%%$*!Areyourfriendspathfinderstoo?ifyouget meoutoftheseicanhealsomeone!"
Mechanically the manacles will get the broken condition, but I don't think it'll really help much. I'll let it reduce the Break DC but the general guidance seems to be -2 and I'm not sure the little gnome can manage a DC 24 Break either :)
Captain Wardak drinks a potion of invisibility and opens the door to the galley.
Kilian hears the creek of another door opening from the room the Captain retreated to.
Round 9
Kilian
Captain Wardak (22 damage taken)
Jerrik (unconscious, stable)
Niko (unconscious, stable)
Khamul (unconscious, stable)
Kilian!
