The dog that looks like Lady appears and mauls #9, grabbing hold of the corby's leg, biting deep, and pulling the corby to the ground. There's not a log left of the corby's leg but blood and bone after the dog extracts her teeth, but the corby keeps trying to move. #9 is now staggered and prone.

Corinna's own attack is, unfortunately, not as successful.

#9 stubbornly tries to get to its feet, opening itself up to attack from the dog again. The dog gets an AoO. Meanwhile, #6, #7, and #8 look confusedly to the red-skinned man calling everyone closer. When they take a step closer towards him, he points towards the party and cries, "No! Get them, you idiots!" Yet when they move towards the door, he follows up with, "Too far! Too far!" All three delay their actions.

#10, #11, and #12 move in to attack. #11 steps up to Melon (5-ft step to AE31) while #10 and #12, break into charges, leaping into the air at Tevyn and Melon respectively.

Corby #10 Acrobatics to make leap attack, DC 20: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22 -- success
Corby #10 claw 1 at Tevyn, charge: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 3 + 2 = 21 -- hit
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Corby #12 claw at Melon: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 2 = 12 -- miss

Melon deftly dodges #11's attacks and follows up by rolling away from #12's clumsy leap. #10 manages to scrape Tevyn's chest as it leaps almost on top of him.

Next Up: Attack of Opportunity for Lady, Melon, Gilfroy, Malan, Strange Man, Corinna, Dire Corbies (#6,7,8 subject to delayed actions).

I appear to have fallen off the initiative list. I believe, though, that Tevyn should be between the Strange Man and Corinna.

Yes, you should be. Sorry about that.

Melon's turn starts

Attack, then 5ft to AG32

Melon reels from her own spurt of movement, the swift responses that her style mandated were working - but also difficult to perform. Her body just didn't react reflexively enough. Not yet. Furiously she smashes her fist into the corby again - hoping to finally bring it down. Seeing a bloody patch where her fist connected she nods to herself, then steps slightly back. "Blast! So many of these wretches! - And you smell!" she shouts at the closest one.

Attack, defensive, against #11 (or #12 if the first one drops) 1d20 + 5 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 5 + 1 - 2 = 21 damage 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

#9 manages to stand up and avoid Lady's bite at the same time. It's still badly hurt, however, and is unable to do anything else for the moment.

Meanwhile, Melon manages to hit #11 hard while it attacks her. Her follow-up attack is not so successful, but she then follows that up with yet another attack that cracks ribs in the chest. The corby coughs up blood and begins breathing wheezily. #11 is now staggered.

Next Up: Gilfroy, Malan, Strange Man, Tevyn, Corinna, Dire Corbies (#6,7,8 subject to delayed actions), Melon.

Yes, it would seem he did forget bless, and yes, that does make it a hit.

How'd Malan go from 6/17 to 17/17 over the last round when no one healed him? ;P

Tevyn's arrow slams into the right side of #10's chest. The corby looks badly injured, but not quite to the extent of #9 (i.e. not staggered yet). Then the dog bites into #9's leg, practically tearing it off. The corby drops to the ground and finally stops moving.

The dog will remain until just after Tevyn's next turn (assuming it survives the corbies' attacks, that is).

Melon lays into #10, and while the results are not as good as she was expecting, #10 is mildly incapacitated. Yes, #10 is now staggered. As #10 staggers back form Melon's blow, Gilfroy's acid catches it in the elbow.

Gilfroy then moves back, followed quickly by Corinna.

Malan, you get your Intelligence bonus as well to your concentration check, increasing your result from 15 to 18 (and turning it into a success rather than a failure).

Half Elf Spirit Ranger / 2

Round 6: HP = 16/22 :: AC = 18 :: Touch = 14 :: Flatfooted = 14 Active Effects: Bless, Greased Armor.

Though he was growing a little concerned at Melon's precarious position, with four of the creatures fighting against her, Tevyn takes a step back before firing directly at the corbie he'd last shot.

"How are you doing, Melon?"

5-Foot Step back to AI33.
Blessed, Point Blank Shot at #8: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 26
Damage: 1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 1 = 4

"If thinks get worse, Fezzi can come and patch me up. It's the red-faced guy that worries me."

Tevyn's arrow goes right into #8's forehead, but still the corby refuses to fall over.

#12 shifts forward (5-ft step to AG31) and the corbies continue their attacks.

Corby #6 claw 1 at Melon: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 -- miss
Corby #6 claw 2 at Melon: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 -- miss

Corby #7 claw 1 at Melon: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 -- miss
Corby #7 claw 2 at Melon: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 -- miss

Corby #8 claw at Melon, flanking: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 3 + 2 = 22 -- hit
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Corby #12 claw 1 at Melon: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 2 = 10 -- miss
Corby #12 claw 2 at Melon: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 3 + 2 = 25 -- hit, critical threat
Corby #12 critical confirm: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 2 = 11 -- not confirmed
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Despite its grievous wounds, with the help of #12, #8 manages to catch Melon with its claw, only for #12 to follow that up with another scratch on her other side.

Next Up: Melon, Gilfroy, Corinna (subject to delayed action), Malan, Strange Man, Tevyn, Dire Corbies.

Lower Level Map Updated

Beforehand

Melon waits for the wounded corby's attack - then is surprised when he unexpectedly connects. She tries to dodge out of the way, but fails when the foe behind her gets in the way. Angrily she smashes at the guy behind her in response to his attack - but then leaves herself open to his second attack.

Immediate Sense Motive AC 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 2 = 12
AOO against #12 1d20 + 6 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 6 + 1 - 2 = 19 damage 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Melon's Round
AC 22; HP 9/19
Attack #12, then 5ft step to AH33

When she next regains her composure, Melon decides to double-up her efforts on the birdman she just hit - hoping to stagger him too. The attack hits the ribcage and Melon feels some ribs crack under the impact. Deftly she steps closer to her allies to avoid being encircled again too easily. "A smidgen of healing please, if you can," she hollers at Gilfroy when she sees him come out again.

Attack, defensively 1d20 + 5 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 5 + 1 - 2 = 22 damage 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Female Human (Chelaxian) Wizard (conjuration) 2

As Melon steps back, Corinna sees an opening to take a clear shot at one of the corbies. Moving back outside the inner gate, she summons sizzling acid to fling at the one in the doorway.

Move to AL 32; Acid Dart on corby #7: ranged touch 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 3 + 1 = 22 damage 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

"Wha-? Oh! Good shot Corinna!"

F/R/W: +2/+1/+2 (+2 vs illusions); AC 12/12/11; CMD: 7; Max HP 10; Current HP 10; Init: +1; Perception: +6; Sense Motive: +5;

"Tevyn, Malan, bring down that one!" Gilfroy shouts, pointing at 12.

He'll delay until after them, planning on moving up and healing Melon safely once it's down. If it doesn't go down, he'll move up and risk it.

Concentration if needed: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Healing: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Female Human (Chelaxian) Wizard (conjuration) 2

Melon stepped back to AH 33, so fortunately you won't need that Concentration check. You can heal her from AI 32.

Elf Local Scion Ranger 1| HP 16/16| AC 18| Fo +5 Re +9 Wi +4| Percep +6, +2 v Hunted Prey

AC 20, FF 13, T 13; HP 6/17
Arcane Pool 2/4; +1 enhancement

Still backing up to stand in front of Gilfroy, Malan, does as asked and fires upon the corbie.

Shortbow: arcane pool (+1), bless, fire into melee
to hit 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 1 + 1 - 4 = 18 damage 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Fortunately it doesn't matter, but #12 is not in melee - so no penalty on the shot. AND Gilfroy: awesome Healing: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10. No more, no less, was needed. Exactly perfect.
