"No, you wouldn't. My friends and I just arrived here in Dothen. As you can see, I'm a priest of Anok and I thought that I should pay my respects to the spiritual leader of this fine village. Perhaps we could sit down and talk?"

"Yours is rare breed this far from the comforts of the great cities, many of your kind never leave places of knowledge and learning larger than this village from what I am told. But it is always pleasant and interesting conversing with one of your kind. Of what shall we speak? hmm, languages perhaps? loquriss linguach draconusj?"

draconic:
Speak you the tongue of dragons?

"Let's head to the in see if we can barter for a room" Tukata weakly barks to the rest of his compatriots .

He ties Ciabatta to a post near the tavern and heads inside looking for accommodations.

The inside of the tavern is dark and cramped, also mostly empty at this time in the afternoon. There is a bar that runs almost the length of the wall opposite the door and many tables filling the rest of the space. The barkeep is a middle aged man with a scar running vertically through his left eye almost the jawbone.

"Got this from an orc axe many moons ago, don't worry everyone stares at it the first time. What can I get you strangers?"

Tukata saddles up to barkeep.

"Got one of those myself. Though it was to the ribs, took a month before we could get a druid back into town. Anyways, we are currently looking for a room, and probably some meals. But mainly the room."

"I have two rooms, each is a silver per night, meals depends on what you want. 2 copper for some stew or a drink, an extra copper for bread, 5 copper if you want a cut of meat or something special."

If that is a real language google translate couldn't figure out what it is

Platros leads the old man over to a bench and sits down, hoping that the old priest will follow his lead.

In Draconic:
"Yes, I speak this tongue. Priests of Anok are trained in many languages. It is far better to read works like The Bough of Knowledge in its original than in a translation.

My companions and I were sent here from far away in order to learn more about your country and people. Not, I assure you, for any nefarious purpose but just in the hope of gaining and sharing knowledge with others.

I'm quite surprised that things seem so familiar here. This town could almost be the one that my grandfather grew up in.

Your village seems to be well cared for. The people look reasonably contented and safe. Do you have any problems with Orc raiders or other sorts here?

Do you know where I could find a large temple to my God? Or perhaps a large university or other centre of learning"

"I got a couple gold coins, though they're foreign. Do you take these or should we head to the trading post?"

Tukata takes a single gold coin he received from the university to show to the barkeep. Then a thought popped into his head.

"Hey, I'm also willing to trade the change for the the night and a few meals to know a little more about the area. Hunting spot, trade routes, any significant dangers in the area."

Draconic is based on Latin, then modified to sound more draconic. all S are replaced with ss, sz or sj, many words have a vowel followed be ch added somewhere, often the end.

"Ssollemech esjt michi, quod fortunach esjt eadem ratech quch aegre invenich.

Tribusz ssunt non sjaepech, ssed continech sjaepech ssatisz. Fortunach turress sjolet providech monitioch et murosz terruech quo minusz maxich Gad achinctuss proeliabituch.

Draconic:
It is my belief that the plight of peasants is much the same regardless of where you find them.

Tribal raids are not frequent, but happen often enough. Fortunately the towers usually provide warning and our walls deter most raiders.

The greatest place of learning in these lands is the Thumatergery, in the Princedom of Janiss, several weeks journey south and across the great river from here.

"Gold is gold, my friend, at least in my establishment. But be careful showing such wealth, many would slit your throat if they thought your purse full of gold. If you want to hunt your best bet is on the open plain, a patient hunter can bring down much game, or your can try your luck in the woods a day south of here. Trade, here? Do we look like a bustling trade centre? most trade out of the mountains comes out further south, safer down there, what trade there is that heads north uses the great river. Here we farm and hunt and pray that the tribesmen won't raid this year."

"Good to know."

Tukata slides the gold piece over.

"We'll take both rooms and some meals when the rest get gathered up. Is out front a good place for our furry friend over there.

Tukata gestures to the donkey outside.

"There is a stable around back."

Platros continues to chat to the old man for awhile before thanking him and taking his leave. He heads back to the inn and joins his companions

"Well, we've obviously arrived at the edge of a civilized area. There is a greatplace of learning called the Thumatergery that can be found several weeks journey south of here in the Princedom of Janiss. Lets go in that direction, its going to be a lot quicker to just check the books there than to stop and try and map ourselves. We can, of course, map a little as we go along"

Tukata walks back into the inn from around back.

"Sounds like a plan. It seems in these parts coins are highly valued, even the ones freely given from your temple are of great value here. Practicality I guess, who cares who's face is on it as long as it is."

Tukata sits and starts digging into his meal as well. "Thanks for the meals!", he says to the barkeep.

"Do you think we should secure the teleportation center before we leave. I don't want I nasty surprise when we come can?"

"do you have any ideas on how to secure it without possibly drawing attention to it? I'm afraid that I don't. And since it has obviously been abandoned for years if not decades hopefully nothing will move in soon. But if you have any ideas I'm happy to help"

"I was thinking using the extra boxes to deter large animals using it as a den. Helping the brush to better camouflage the entrances. Simple things that will give me a sense of security.

"fine with me. Let's do that tomorrow, and then head on the next day"

"Sounds like a plan. I took Ciabatta to the stable around back and secured the goods. I'm going to turn in early, wake me in case of a raider attack."

Tuakata goes to which ever room is either furthest from the bar or seems the quietest.

Male Human Wizard/1

Norman looks up from his parchment of notes that he had made along the way.

"Holy Crap, when did we get to the town?"

Tukata crawls into bed and let's the rest of day fade away.
