And suddenly there was war...
" What do you know about Mars chummer?" The gaunt elf listens to your responses, then grins slightly and simply says. "Wrong." He sips some tea and gauges your reactions before continuing. "I used to live there, an EVO wageslave of sorts you could say. Something big is brewing, and it starts here in Boston. The chip truth is this, I can't go back. I don't want to go back. I won't go back. But I left something there that will change everything, and I want you to get it for me, eventually. There is only one way there that I have access to, and that's a one way. So for now we have work to do here, and it isn't a milk run. Before I give you that though, I need to know. Are you in?"

Hello, and welcome to my Shadowrun 5E recruitment thread. This is going to be a theater of mind pbp. I have only recently gotten into 5E. I did play 2E back in the day, and have done several PbPs on these boards in the past. Now after a hiatus due to illness I believe I am ready to get back into it. So let's get into the details.

Character Generation:
We will use the standard (established runner) Priority System. I know some are not keen to this, but I rather like it. I suggest Hero lab or some other character generator to help you with this task as it can be a bit tedious, but ultimately satisfying in that you have the character you want. Stick to the basics for gear (No Beta or Deltaware yet) an all other basic restrictions. I currently own the Core and the Street Grimoire so I am comfortable with those resources, if you simply cant live without something from another book to make your character I will see how I can accommodate on case by cast basis. I do plan on getting the rest of the set soon. As far as background goes, I am pretty open, but no one has been to or is from Mars.

Useful things:
In addition to all the normal Shadowrun Themes, this campaign will focus on: EVO Corp, Dragons, Metahumans ,Biotech, Boston,Greek Mythology, Mars, Space. This is your "player's guide" so to speak.

*Please don't ask if I want to run another edition , this is what I have and I am sorry if you prefer a different version.

Liberty's Edge

Sounds interesting. I will try to get up my crunch tomorrow.

The combination of the words "Boston" and "Mars" have given me a neat idea for a rigger. I'll get back to you...

Sounds good I look forward to your submissions.

Liberty's Edge

sorry having trouble with herolab updates so have been a little delayed, but still interested...was thinking of a spy/thief type character

Liberty's Edge

ok..here is my first pass. Decided on a physical adapt..see what you think.

Where did you place your priorities? I like the general concept, I am at work so I will have to wait until I get home to really audit the sheet properly.

I have just started to plug in your attribute numbers and they are a bit high. Make sure you have selected Established Runner on Hero lab, not Prime Runner.

Liberty's Edge

yup it is..I can send you the file if you want as well...I used the brawling adapt template and altered it to better represent my character.

A - Attributes (24 points)
B - Skills (36 skill points)
C - Magic
D - Meta type
E - Resources

Ok that is making more sense now. You can just do an output stat block and copy/paste into profile makes life easy.

Boston Parkour is that like free running?

I'm still here too. Just having a busy week at work, but the character is coming along nicely. He's basically going to be a disgraced electronics wiz (got kicked out of college for ...something). Mostly drone rigger in terms of build, but a (very) small bit of decking in there too.

Hi there! Shadowrun has always seemed like a lot of fun to me but my RL group isn't that interested. Do you mind having a newbie on board?

Not at all, I am new to this system myself. I have played a lot of 2e back in the day, but now I am doing 5e. PbP I feel is a good way to learn because it gives us time to look up rules ect.

Sounds good

Dark Archive

Played some Shadowrun, back about a decade back, no experience with the current rules.
Looks like we've got a combatant and a Rigger so far. Maybe a technomancer or a mage then... If Umbungo is pulling double duty as a Decker may go straight Mage.

== Vehicles ==
Yamaha Growler (Off-Road Bike)
+Sensor Array Rating 1

== Description ==
Deacon dresses down for the occasion, trying to remain as inconspicuous as possible. On the streets, he wears his heavy synthleather armored jacket and carries a motorcycle helmet. He typically travels by public transit whenever he can, using his Growler as a personal conveyance to and from jobs. He does keep a well-tailored, if cheap, black suit handy for when a meeting needs a more dressy appearance.

== Background ==
Deacon grew up SINless in the Greater New Haven sprawl, idealizing magic and fantasizing about joining the College of Thaumaturgy at Yale. He never stood a chance, having no money and next to no chance to get in, a SINless boy from the slums. He Awakened at 15, then spent the next 13 years focusing his skills and powers to earn himself a living in the shadows. His trail has led him to Boston, chasing job after job to make his next score and keep food in his belly.

== Concept ==
Combat mage and medic.

I'll probably need to make some adjustments (mostly in the background department) but I'd like to offer up Beta-Axe the Dwarven Decker for consideration.

The Magic Priority A - grants full Magician status, Magic 6, 2 rank 5 magical skills, and 10 spells.

Ok yes, which means you can astrally project and all that fun stuff. You just had it listed under qualities so I thought it was a new quality I didn't know about.

Yeah, Chummer lists Magician, Adept, Technomancer as qualities, dunno why but it seems a good enough place to fit it.

I am not familiar with Chummer, do you have a link for it? I looked it up on google and found only a 4th edition version.

Just reiterating that while my character has a deck, he is by no means a decker, just in case that's putting people off of certain character choices.

Also - GM: how many people are you planning to choose for the party? Just making sure whatever vehicle I buy has enough seats.

Github link

Scroll down and D/L latest version (5.190.0.0, I believe)

I'll go as many as 7, but doubt we will get that many. Thanks for the link for chummer.

If anyone else was totally set on playing a mage, I am willing to modify my submission as needed.

Working on a rigger concept

I've updated my Beta-Axe a little.

Got rid of 1 month middle lifestyle and added some more gear.

I've also added a little more to his background.

This will be the final version (unless there's something wrong)

Mneh, I'm struggling to get my head around magic anyway, do we have any party gaps?
Looks like we're mostly covered for Decking, Magic, Rigging and Combat. Do we need another combatant or stealth expert? The rules are massively different from back when I used to play (might have been 2nd edition).

A face might be good. As might another combatant.
Hopefully I'll have a working rigger by the end of the day.

Sczarni

A dedicated face or master stealth operative wouldn't be amiss, and neither of those prevent being a heavy combatant, depending on how you go about the chargen.

As Psionichamster said, we could use a street samurai/face/covert ops type. A technomancer also has its uses

Presenting Sparky the Rigger.

Just in case - can I reserve the right to swap my chosen vehicle from the Bentley to the Rover 2072 if it turns out not to be big enough for the team?

== Description ==
Sparky looks like a typical naive rich boy student. Expensive jeans, MIT&T hoodie, ostentatious shades, earbuds
in and ignoring the world. Which is exactly what he wants you to think as his eyes wander over everything,
committing every minute detail to memory.

== Background ==
Aaron Johnson is not the sort of person that's supposed to end up in this life. His parents were well off, and
worked somewhere or other in UCAS central government. As such, Aaron never really wanted for much and even
managed to stay off of the radar of most of the corps. He dissappointed his parents by not following them into
politics, but being a smart kid he got himself into a private school and then later into MIT&T. His studies
mostly focused on computing, physics and astronomy but he was particularly good at electrical engineering,
gaining him the nickname Sparky. Unfortunately he was lazy, and decided cheating was better than studying. Aaron
got caught, and thrown out of college. His parents, already getting fed up with him, had enough. Aaron hasn't
heard from them in months. The money is drying up, and he's got nowhere to turn. He steals what equipment he can
from the MIT&T electronics department, builds himself a few little toys, and goes in search of someone who might
be able to use his skills.

Aaron the student becomes Sparky the rigger.

== Concept ==
Drone rigger with a bit of decking thrown in. Basically a tech wizard.

Liberty's Edge

I'd love to try my hand at tabletop Shadowrun, I've played the new games and loved them. However, I'm a bit daunted by learning a whole new game, I'll take a look at the Beginner's Guide. In case, I'd be good with any role, especially if you still need a stealthy sniper.

Sczarni

Hi all! Much alike Sapiens here, I've got into Shadowrun when the new games came out, and it was a love at first sight (the whole breaking of the fantasy/sci-fi concept got me into making my own game, actually)

I've got a concept in mind for a face/covert operative, think James Bond, or Catwoman.

I've got rough drafts in Chummer, but in general just wanted to post my interest for now.

Sounds good. Have room for everyone that has responded so far so I'll cut it off here. Try to have submissions in by Monday ill have game up by then. I tend to post in pace with my players. The more enthusiastic you are the more I am.

Excellent! Excited to play! Thanks GM :)

Liberty's Edge

Alright, I'm whipping up a sneakish Street Samurai then, as soon as I figure out the trickiest parts of character creation.

Discussion is up. Report in when ready.

Yes, it was more of a "am I doing useless stuff" sort of figuring out.

I made this guy awhile back, not sure if he is kosher for your game. If so, I'd like to submit him. If not, then I will see about a different character but I can't promise I'll have time (character creation takes me forever).

Ha. I was just looking for a SR game, but it looks like I missed the cutoff. Let me know if you're looking for another player.

Our group's Rigger is MIA, so accepting one more to fill that role. If he should show up again will run with 2 that's fine. People drop off in PbP so better to have more than less in my experience.

I'll whip up a Rigger with Chummer asap, then.

Are we looking for a getaway driver type of Rigger or a drone swarm of death kind of Rigger? Bit of both?

Thanks I appreciate it.

Q: Since you ninja'd my edit: Are we looking for a getaway driver type of Rigger or a drone swarm of death kind of Rigger? Bit of both?
