Astarton Columbridge |
Astarton takes the hit from the croc, but manages to not get entrapped by those sizable jaws. He takes a swing with his curve blade, hoping to get luckier than he had been and empowering it with magical energies. He makes a connection, and it felt like it was a good one, but his wounds were clearly paining him now and he takes a step backwards.

Talor Blackstone |
This "children, take his head" does not sound like a good idea. We should put an end to such things.
Talor takes a few steps forward (so that he is to the right of an just behind Wuse Guy - should have checked when I was not at work so I could move him on the map) and fires a blast at the kobold.
attack vs touch ac @2 range increments: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

GM Xzaral |
Between Astarton's blade and Talor's gun, the crocodile cannot stand up to the punishment. The creature passes on. Enraged, the Bog Mother screams, "NOoooooo!!! You will all pay for this!!"

Astarton Columbridge |
I will post this if it is needed, I don't know if I will have the time to post later or not.
As blood seeps from his wound, Astarton staggers forward into flanking position and attacks. There's no time to fix yourself when the enemy is casting a spell.
Move in a "v" to avoid attacks of opportunity to flank with Daniel. Swift action and Arcane Strike.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Jericho Daskin |
Jericho hurls another javelin at the kobold, hoping to interrupt her spell.
Attack Bog Mother: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 - 4 = 16.
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6.
If The Bog Mother is not casting defensively, does she provoke attacks of opportunity?
GM Xzaral |
Jericho throws a javelin, impaling the kobold woman while Astarton moves to flank with the paladin. Between the strikes, she stands not a chance.
As her spell drops, Nester comes limping up. "An excellent job, my protectors. And friends if I may. Shall we rest for a moment to bind our wounds before continuing?" He looks up to the sky. "It looks like we should make Pier's End tomorrow around dinner time. From there we'll have to find a ferry to take us to Escadar. Our journey will be over soon."
Huh, I had meant to move her south on the map to avoid it. Oh well, my mistake is your blessing. We'll just call it her enraged mistake. Yes, Daniel gets an AoO if not for the fact you and Astarton dropped her.
Astarton Columbridge |
Astarton calls forth his ability to cast cure light wounds on himself, chuckling a bit at a joke only he knows. Within seconds his wound is completely healed. "I trust everyone else is okay this time? I seem to be getting myself in trouble lately..."
Cure Light Wounds 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Wuse Guy |
Wuse picks up his axe from the bog mothers feet and saunters over to the croc.
ye may not have wanted to eat me pretty, but dont think ill be so stupid as to miss a meal such as you.
He winds up and chops the crocs head off. Then shuffles to the side and takes the tail as well. He hangs the head on his pack to drain after shaking out as much gunk as possible.
a trophy and a meal. Tastes like chikn! I wonder if theres a place to cook in this hovel.
Wuse makes himself at home exploring the log fort.
GM Xzaral |
I'll move us ahead, looks like everyone's ready.
Sleeping for the night, the next day finds you all continuing your travels. As promised by Nester, by the end of the day, you find yourself approaching Pier's end, a sleepy fishing village. "From here, we must procure a ferry to Escadar. I shall leave this in your capable hands, as I feel I must rest for abit."
How would you all like to proceed?
Talor Blackstone |
Are we in need of supplies, my friends? If not, let us see if there is a ferry in town.
Talor is inclined to have a look around, find a ferry service, formal or informal Know(local) just in case: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24, and stop off for a beer in front of a warm fire before the party heads out.
Astarton Columbridge |
"Ugh, all this overland travel is exhausting. I think I want to relax on a nice feather bed for a while. If there is no ferry tonight I think I will just turn in early. Of course, if we can pay a boat to take us tonight, we can sleep in a hammock. I do love hammocks... Astarton looks wistful as he daydreams of the types of sleep he might get.
Wuse Guy |
Wuse sniffs out the dirtiest, rankest, two-timingest, fine establishment where he figures he can get away with a quick tustle and starts drinking. Once he's drunk, the tustle makes itself usually. The guys who don't smell like swamp booty can buy tickets for the ferry.
GM Xzaral |
You learn the name of three captain's who will ferry you across to Escadar. Darice Sumore, Small Otti, and Crazy Old Tanner. Asking around, you find out a few bits of information about the three.
Darice never knew her father, and many villagers whisper that he was a member of the Pathfinder Society. Darice resents never knowing her father and some say she longingly caresses the trinket he left behind for her.
Small Otti values his coin, for he has many mouths to feed—most importantly, his own. Small Otti has a weakness for fine food and drink, and any deal with him is made sweeter if food is involved.
Tanner’s skill at sea is unmatched, but so is his lunacy; take a boat ride with him and you might ride straight into a squall. Some whisper that Tanner is not actually crazy, but no one is brave enough to find out.
Talor Blackstone |
Once the group has heard tell of the three captains, and while Wuse Guy is finding his way, Talor sits with the rest of the group (or at least whatever portion goes with him) in front of a roaring fire (hopefully somewhere with a convenient hammock), a mug of ale in his hand and a plate of ham and whatever else it was they put next to the ham in front of him.
Small Otti sounds like our best bet, friends. I am sure we can find him some fine food, and Wuse Guy has some fi-...
well, he has some drink.
Let us consider the alternatives -- Crazy Old Tanner: One can not trust madmen - drunks, yes, but mad men not so much.
And then there is Darice: if it is true that she resents not knowing a father who was a Pathfinder, she might not be so kind to a group of Pathfinders.
Any thoughts?
Jericho Daskin |
Jericho finishes chewing a bit of dinner then says, I think our best bet would be with Tanner. He may be old and a bit eccentric, but in small towns like this "crazy" usually just means "not normal." And he is the captain with the greatest skill.
Astarton Columbridge |
"I'd be more for Tanner as well. If no one else uses him, his rates might be lower. Although, I could definitely be on board if we can help the lady find out about her father. If it were just me I would probably go with her, but when ladies get angry, there's no telling what they will do."
Wuse Guy |
i got bruises shu prove that!
Wuse tumbles up to the table. His clothes are a mess, well more a mess, and hes got a black eye. He looks around dramatically for a chair, taking one from an ocupied table without bothering to ask.
so vatre we don here. Drinks fur all eh! Dont look me lik that i men all my table.
Astarton Columbridge |
"It looks like we will go with the skilled ferryman. Although I might have changed my vote if Darice was pretty, probably to our doom. I'll go and negotiate with the man if anyone wants to come with."
GM Xzaral |
You approach Crazy Old Tanner regarding passage to Escadar. A disheveled fish-smelling man with wild eyes, he smokes a pipe blowing thick gouts of grey smoke. When you approach him, he's currently found yelling at the sea. "Yer an unfaithful mistress, you are!" With a quick puff he turns as you all approach him.
"Well hello there gentlemen. Come to scream at her as well or do ye have other business you want?" He speaks out of the corner of his mouth, a cloud formed by his pipe.
Astarton Columbridge |
Astarton smiles and nods in assent to Daniel's statement and then shouts at the sea. "He wouldn't be yelling if he didn't care about you!" He turns back to the disheveled man and adds. "I love a good domestic dispute as much as the next man, but we can't afford to have her be too angry at us when we set sail."
Diplomacy check to make him more favorable: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Astarton Columbridge |
Astarton does his best impersonation of a streetwise businessman. "That sounds favorable, but I have a few questions before I conference with my colleagues. Is there room for six and when could we depart?"
GM Xzaral |
"Taking six would be no problem, plenty of room available still. As to when we could leave? Well, we could leave right now if you're hiding three people from me somewhere nearby. Be about half a day to get there, and would rather leave in the mornin' if it's all the same to ya. Yer call though, yer payin'. Just don't take too long ta decide or I might just have ta take another job."
Astarton Columbridge |
"That is quite acceptable, although there is one more thing concerning the time of our departure. Despite your recent disagreements, you do speak for the lady as well when you say the morning would be better, correct? I would hate to leave her out of any deliberations, for the sake of rudeness." When he said "the lady" he gestured to the sea to emphasize his point. "Providing there is no objection from her about leaving in the morning, I think we are prepared to make a deal."
GM Xzaral |
"I reckon she should be fine. A pleasure to do business." Night falls and in the morning the trip to Escadar goes off as expected. Arriving in the town, Nester informs you that you are to meet the gillman at Grindylow's Goblet.
The sounds of a busy tavern echo off the wooden walls of this unusual building. Resting precariously over Escadar’s harbor, the Grindylow’s Goblet offers an unequaled view of the water. In the bar’s center, a thick glass aquarium presents a striking display. Within the tank, a coral statue of a goblin with the lower body of an octopus hosts a school of colorful fish that flit about the nooks and crannies of its tentacles.
"I'll send word to their embassy that we are here. I recommend the table near the aquarium there, it's a beautiful sight, and I hope will make our gillman friends feel at ease. But of course I will go with your own decisions on this."
If there were any purchases you wanted to make before heading here, let me know. Also let me know if there's anything special you all want to do. The gillman will arrive shortly after word is sent, feel free to set yourselves up.
Jericho Daskin |
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16.
Jericho glances around the tavern then says quietly to Nester, I do not know anything about gillmen, so I do not know if the aquarium is a good place to sit or not, but the bartender appears to also be a gillman.
