GM WhtKnt's Alternity: Perpetual Twilight (Inactive)

Game Master WhtKnt

A spacer's life is never easy, and doubly so in the Verge. If the kaa or the klicks don't get you, something else will. It takes nerves of steel to hurtle through the void in a tube of metal, exploring strange new worlds, seeking out new life and new civilizations, and all that stuff.

Male Human Diplomat (Free Agent)

"Stick around and you'll get a chance to find out. It's a delicious frozen treat invented by humans".

Rrin says, "Sadly, humans tend to make oversweet flavours to support their weak palettes."

Male Strix

"Why would humans eat frozen food?"

Alita copies the mail and its details to her personal storage, and tries again to check the hotels' systems
Hacking: 1d20 + 1d6 ⇒ (16) + (5) = 21 Assuming there's somewhere to get a monofilament link should have reduced the difficulty by one step

Alita shuts down and closes the terminal
"This isn't happening, we've got the mail. Don't think there's anything else here worth finding."

Male Strix

"If the one with electric for blood cannot do it, then it cannot be done."

"Are you done mining in there.?" asks Lig'Tu from the hallway.

Rrin says, "Between the lock and the information systems, this place is more secure than I'd have given it credit for.... "

You are about to leave when Rayshel peeks into the room and says, "There she is!" She slips past Lincoln into the room and grabs a child's doll. She frowns in annoyance, and fingers a small hole in the side of the doll. Something is lodged within. With a little effort, she finally manages to get the object free. Satisfied, she tosses it to the floor and hugs the dolly close.

Her curiosity aroused, Alita retrieves the object, which turns out to be a datastrip. She pops it into the computer terminal and accesses the files. The strip is a jumble of files that have to do with accounting business expenses, it appears. But one folder stands out; a folder titled "Rayshel."

Opening the folder reveals only a single text message.

"Locker 456. 3361."

Male Strix

"It is luck that the man child was here!"

Speaking out of earshot of Rayshel "Luck indeed, or the man thought something would happen and gambled that the girl would find something on her favourite toy that few others would think to search."

Does the locker number match any locker system we've seen at the spaceport or elsewhere?

Dark Archive

Maps: Car. Crown || Skull & Shackles

It does match a locker number here at the spaceport, and the lockers have a four-digit code system.

Rrin says, "Seems then the man may have been expecting something... untoward.... and clever enough to undertake some insurance measures. Although, I suspect, I might be better to wait and see what we find he's left us before being too impressed."

Male Strix

"The wise hunter is pleased with what the hunt brings, rather than disappointed at what it did not."

"We should leave."

"Lets track this down, if someone is as eager to get hold of Reyshel as it appears, they may be able to access camera records of the lockers."

"Do we split up? Lig'Tu and I stay with the girl, and the rest of you check out the locker. We're all an odd bunch, but a weren towers over everyone and will be noticed more... and others will be watching for the girl."

Male Human Diplomat (Free Agent)

"Sounds good. I'll bring back Ice Cream".

Lincoln flashes his "teenage girl heart melting smile", and departs with the others.

Male Strix

"The hunter will go with the human." Choraak accompanies Lincoln.

Rrin says, "A good plan... I worry about dividing our strength, but think haste and stealth are crucial."

"We should probably find a different place to lair."

And what are the rest of you (other than Lincoln and Choraak) doing?

Dark Archive

Maps: Car. Crown || Skull & Shackles

Lincoln and Choraak:
You can locate the locker easily enough. You try the four digit code given with the note and, perhaps surprisingly, it works. Inside the locker is a note. It reads simply, "Docking Arm 17A." Included is a plastisteel card of the kind used to enter secure areas.

Male Strix

To Lincoln, "should we tell the pack, or is that risking the pack?"

I thought we were all going, other than Lig'Tu and Akira?

Oh, okay. Go ahead and read the spoiler.

Wow, didn't notice the autocorrect of Alita's name. Apologies.

Alita will attempt to find somewhere to "lair" for the night. Preferably close enough to the port to walk, but that doesn't ask too many questions

Dark Archive

Maps: Car. Crown || Skull & Shackles

Easily done. You can find a couple of small, but comfortable rooms for the night. The night passes without incident (remarkably).

Rrin looks at the card, then quickly makes it vanish by sliding it into a sleeve, "We should head back to rejoin the others... I'm thinking we'll want to plan our next step.. including scouting ahead."

Male Strix

Choraak stretches his wings briefly, nods, and heads to the rendezvous.

Male Human Diplomat (Free Agent)

Lincoln simply shrugs... "Sure thing. I'll be glad to scout the area out in advance".

What's next? Is Lincoln going to head to the docking area to see what's there? What are the rest of you doing?

I had thought they were going to rejoin us and then we would go from there. As far as I can see, they haven't returned yet.

Male Strix

I thought we were heading back to you guys.

I also thought we were rejoining the others before exposing ourselves...

Male Human Diplomat (Free Agent)

Lincoln will stay and scout the area out, while the others are gathered and rendezvoused... Just the general area, watching the coming and going and activity for anything suspicious, or to check if the site is being watched. He'll also try to determine if they are being watched of followed.

I don't have my books. How do I roll for Awareness again. (1d20+1d4?)

d20 + the difficulty, which defaults to +1d4 I think

Dark Archive

Maps: Car. Crown || Skull & Shackles

Yes, 1d20 plus the difficulty modifier (1d4).

Everyone except Lincoln has rejoined the group, now.

Male Human Diplomat (Free Agent)

1d20 + 1d4 ⇒ (3) + (1) = 4 Awareness

"So what was learned at the locked place?"

Male Strix

"It would not surprise to know that the numbers opened the locker."

Choraak produces a plastisteel card of the kind used to enter secure areas. "Inside we found this, as well as a note stating 'Docking Arm 17A.'" Choraak also shows the note.

Lincoln:
You think that you are in the clear. At docking arm 17A is a small vessel, a tradesman, from the looks of it. Though the airlock is secured, you are able to read the name on the side of the vessel, Rayshel.

Male Strix

Tap tap, is this thing on?

I'm still here.

Me too.

I'm running fumes and losing interest

Yep

Sorry, guys, was waiting on someone to do something. Let's see if I can jump start this thing...

All but Lincoln:
There is a chime, indicating that someone is at the door.

Rrin turns quickly to face the door and takes half a step forward before he smiles and starts to chuckle, "Lig'Tu? Would you be so kind? Let's give our visitor a warm welcome, just in case it's someone with unfriendly thoughts."

Group-Lincoln:

Lig'Tu stalks to the door and slams it open. "What in the name of my ancestors do you want?"

Dark Archive

The steward beyond the portal is caught off-guard by the huge weren and meekly replies, "I was sent to deliver this message, sir." He hands you a holodisk before backing away slowly. As soon as he is a fair distance from the door, he turns and bolts.
