Five-star Hound of Tindalos. Er, GM. Whatever. | RoW Encounter Map | A Fistful of Flowers slides

Sorry, was going off the character sheet. You can do the mathing with the associated DRs.

Vojtek has a flurry of miss!

aura of cold for Ali and Vojtek: 1d6 ⇒ 5

With a roar equal parts fury and malice, the dragon emits another cone of frost breath, catching both Vojtek and Ali in its icy grip!

cold dmg: 14d4 ⇒ (4, 3, 1, 2, 2, 1, 4, 3, 2, 3, 3, 4, 1, 2) = 35 DC 23 Refl for half

Then it sets off through the air, flying away from the party! Now 100' up

The the silent lightning flashes from the witch, and the dragons scales somehow deflect the bolt as it ascends higher. Ed takes a step towards the cover of a boulder hoping to entice the dragon back down, into more of a kill zone, and cause it to use its cold breath on just him and not his friends. Now if I can get a few arrows to stick, and piss it off whites aren’t known for their intelligence. Just need a few seconds to dive behind the boulder for some cover.

That’s it run away little dragon run away!! The Oradin of Apsu growls in draconic.

Iassume, since I was close enough to strike it, I get an AoO for the movement--and Vojtek does as well?

Dodging some of the breath, it nonetheless takes a toll on Ali, who is badly wounded. She casts a spell onto her blade, closes with the dragon, and STRIKES!!

No AoO for the breath weapon, but for the movement, sure.

Looks like Peter Griffon's fly speed is 80', so could reach dragon on a double move... But am happy to let dragon fly off if it will.

I'll take that as a yes, especially at 5 hp. :-) Out of combat.

We rested in relative comfort as Kappi and Ali laid out our accumulated treasure before us. Ed isn’t sure how he missed the description of the belt before, but the leather belt with the inlaid iron bear struck his fancy. We were pretty sure that it would increase his endurance. We talked over different items of magic that would help us and figured that Ed has expensive tastes. Settling on a new bow would be in order for Edward. Neither were exactly what he desired but they are a good starting point.

The party takes a few days to themselves as a welcome respite.

Davosh and Liska make their way through the market stalls, where the warlock finds a grimy headband smudged with sage and inlaid with symbols both arcane and occult. The color doesn't suit him, but never mind: he dons it as soon as he hands the coin over, Liska sniffing it suspiciously before snuggling back to sleep in his coat.

Ali's research leads her to the Vurnirn arcane guild tower, with its basic, simple construction and wide, short-stepped stairways such a contrast to the towering spires in her homeland. Her investigations bear fruit in finding a spell that makes her appear apart from where she is, and she sets to scribing it at once. After a warm meal with the warlock and Varisian lad, she sets off to the Vurnirn smith to discuss improvements to what she already has.

Kappi finds a handful of scrolls and hatches a wild plan to uncover the magic within them himself. Even as he converses about the act of faking his way through the magic with Ali and Davosh, his mind drifts regularly to Deidre, the pretty blond human girl working the scroll cart whose smile warmed his heart and flushed his face. She didn't even seem to notice the scowl from her father — I guess it was her father? — as she and Kappi exchanged glances below the canopy.

Vojtek swifty launches multiple Black Arrows of Death at the rider to follow the same track as Ali's cute little magic girl-arrows. He also steps out of the horrible cloud.

Confirmed that the Icewalker trait is a great boon here, and while your GM knows that, Nazhena should not. :-)

Only one of Vojtek's arrows hits home, and Edward's smite is effective as usual!

I went ahead and moved where I would have moved, had I been on the correct map. TS, let me know if I should still take the breath weapon & cloudkill effects.

Ali casts a spell, then moves over to Vojtek and gives him a "Good Game." Get up there and wreck her--or do you prefer to stand out of the way and PEW PEW?

cast fly, and touch Vojtek. I'm leaving my pog in the original location, though, so TS can adjudicate whether I still take damage. Sorry about the confusion...the Tactical Map is still pointing to the wrong one!

It is, and that's on me (also probably not changing it now), which is why I'm ruling that Ali moves prior to the breath and spells going off.

Ali grants Vojtek the boon of flight!

1d100 ⇒ 97 Attacks nearest creature. This will not go well for Nazhena...

    bite: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18
    dmg: 2d6 + 8 ⇒ (3, 3) + 8 = 14 plus cold: 1d6 ⇒ 6

    tail: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
    dmg: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

The drake turns on its rider! The bite misses, but the tail does not!

In a fury, Nazhena leaps off the back of the drake but does not fall, instead flying away from her treacherous pet, provoking!

    AoO bite: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19
    dmg: 2d6 + 8 ⇒ (6, 5) + 8 = 19 plus cold: 1d6 ⇒ 5

    The AoO misses too!

I expected a lot worse from that. LOL
