"I can be of use with the scroll, Andrietta, if you wish to carry the wand," Muzhaa'f replies to his beaked friend. "And yes, let us return this to the shed. A curiosity that they did not take the siphons, however..."

Muzhaa'f muscles tense involuntarily when he lays eyes on Cassiel, and this apprehension grows when the ghost mentions returning the living to the dead. "With deference, Cassiel, J is graced with the blessing of life. Do not seek to destroy her right to breath. Compassion is the true path, even in death, and envy a treacherous one."

"Could have been possibly for similar reasons to what we encountered, rushing along, didn't think they might be important, who knows? But yes, that would be very helpful, thank you. If anyone feels fatigued, exhausted, or otherwise debilitated let me know, I'll poke you with the wand, it might help, even."

The tengu tilts her head and listens to Cassiel.

"Cassiel, is it? It must be lonely down here in the old places, with very few to talk to. I'm sorry we didn't have a chance to talk the last time I was here, but I'd be willing to listen. It's obvious that Junia carries the weight of your passing with her daily, in remembrance. What do you need, Cassiel, to move onward?"

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

And... Detect Evil, for thoroughness

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

The third man looks as if he were already injured by the haunt above (falling/crushing damage) as well as some other battle wounds.

Andrietta detects that Cassiel is indeed evil but that sense starts to wane as she and Muzhaa'f address the spirit. The floating spirit of Cassiel visibly relaxes, the glow of her body becoming less harsh and more subdued. "You are right. It was not Junia's fault and we forgive you, friend." Junia begins to weep silently in relief as she smiles at her lost friend. Cassiel continues, "Do not worry, we harbor no vengeance to you and now, having seen that you still remember and care for us, we can pass safely. Thank you, Junia. Thank you, everyone." Several other ectoplasmic children emerge from the floor and walls around the room to smile at Junia before slowly fading away....

J smiles warmly and wipes the tears from her face quickly, thinking that perhaps you didn't notice them. "Thank you so much! I. . . needed that. And I want to do what you guys do, be an adventurer and help other trapped spirits and do grand things!"

As you leave the Precipice Quarter with J and Grishan (who has hidden himself in Junia again), Major Colson Maldris catches up to you. Junia mutters under her breath, "brother is here." Major Colson Maldris sighs, "Finally, I found you. I heard around the lodge that a team of Pathfinders was headed in to the Tri-Towers Yard." Colson bows his head. "My brother was one of many children who died when the earthquake hit. As a result, I take great interest in expeditions leading in to that cursed site. The last Pathfinder expedition seven years ago found his body, and as a result, my family was able to give him a proper burial. Those agents also found some..." Colson pauses, and then continues delicately, "reports about my brother's after-school activities that would have been quite embarrassing if made public. Did you, by chance, find any information about my brother?"

Vires gives the proper greeting to the major and turns slightly to j "it would be best if you told him J... "

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

Junia shoots Vires an annoyed glance. Major Maldris is taken aback. His eyes flash with fury, then soften as he realizes you are hiding something from him, and he whispers, “What do you know-or what did you learn-about Grishan?” Grishan does not emerge from Junia, but J. speaks a few words for him, “Brother…not yet.” Grishan’s conflicting emotions cause tears to roll down J.’s face. J. explains that Grishan isn’t ready to talk yet. Major Maldris is distraught, and he apologizes, "I am sorry, Junia, I did not mean to cause distress. And I am sorry for not being able to save him."

"So," Major Maldris clears his throat. "You seem to know about my brother already then. What else do you know? Do you know about the reports? Do you have them? Please, share what you've found."

Really we are about finished with this scenario after you decide how much (if anything) to share with Major Maldris, which ultimate determines which boon Vires receives.

lol that's no question for me I would tell him everything we found lol

Since it will only affect Vires, I say we let him make the decision as to whether or not anything else is revealed.

Edit: Ninja'd by Vires. If he wants to tell him everything, then I sy we do exactly that.

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

Vires gets a boon no matter what, it's just the nature of the boon that changes. Also, it's not just telling him but also:

Major Maldris asks to peruse what you've found. After looking it over, he asks you to give it to him. "I know this looks bad. And I’m not going to try to justify my actions. These notes paint everyone they touch in a negative light. But, Pathfinders, in situations such as this one, it is important to consider the bigger picture, the greater good, and the unfortunate realities of politics. Skilled orators can take even the hint of scandal and spin it into a mountain to bury their target, preventing almost anyone from seeing the accomplishments and value of the people beneath. Remember what we discovered two years ago, my friends, and the seeds of corruption threatening Andoran that sparked the decision to separate Liberty’s Edge as its own entity. Were this information to become public, members of that conspiracy among Andoran’s politicians would use their oratory against all our works, which would deal a crippling blow to our cause’s influence. They would tarnish not only my own reputation, but the reputation of the Liberty’s Edge as a whole, and by extension, the reputations and of all of the Pathfinders who tirelessly work under our banner to promote the cause of freedom. It may even spell the end of our movement to promote the cause of freedom throughout the Inner Sea and beyond!"

Vires looks troubled by this revelation after a pause he answers "although it feels wrong to hide this act, I can't let the mistake of one ruin the good we have been able to achieve, for what is the true evil to let it all fall over hubris or take the shame and be able to continue to be a beacon of justice to many...burn it..." vires turns his back and walks a few steps away saddens by his decision

Muzhaa'f makes no mention of the fact that he made copies. "There are other options, Maldris. You may resign, and pass the leadership to someone else who walks the noble path you speak of. This information need not be made public should you choose the rightful path. The Dawnflower is quick to forgive those who realize the errors of their ways, and your work would not be erased in vain..."

I might agree OOC with Fahd but not with this character.

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

At Vires' suggestion, Maldris' face becomes solemn. "It would prevent what could have been a catastrophe," he muses. "Destroying it would be sufficient."

When Muzhaa'f speaks up, Maldris responds, "Your faith is admirable. Internally I have already atoned for those actions I may have taken in the past; would not the Dawnflower forgive me? Need we resurrect these old wrongs and must I lose everything I have built for some past mistakes? My friend Vires and I here work for our own causes and I would hate to see it all fall to ruin because of the knowledge that this group shares. I hope that is sufficient for you, Muzhaa'f. I try to walk a noble path now in my pursuits of freedom and liberty."

After Major Maldris leaves, Junia speaks for Grishan. "I always wanted to be an Eagle Knight like Colson. He got his wings so young, and I wanted to follow him anywhere, and fight for freedom, no matter what. I’m not alive anymore, but I can still help Colson in other ways. Good. I am glad you helped my brother."

Both J. and Grishan have learned much about themselves and their power. J. feels that she is ready to finally leave the Drownyard behind her, but has come to realize that she cannot follow in her mother’s footsteps. She instead wishes to strike out on her own and get to know her newfound powers better. She also asks if you all might be willing to sponsor her to begin training with the Pathfinder Society.

Grishan, for his part, has a better understanding of his past and his relationship with his brother. He realizes that his bond with her is far stronger than the connection he still feels with his brother, and he is determined to follow J. wherever her journeys might take her.

Several weeks later, Venture-Captain Dreng reports that the haunts at the Drownyard have all disappeared, and he thanks you for your efforts.

That's it! Thanks for playing, everyone! I hope you enjoyed it! And you made it through with only one combat, haha! Luckily some high social rolls and some clever use of the water on the crazy dryad druid kept you safe.

Holy moly, go to work and suddenly we're done. eEEEEEEp! It should be noted that it is a GOOD thing that Andrietta was NOT chiming in, because she would have said that the first step to darkness is claiming it doesn't exist, ie, Colson should 'come clean', seek redemption, and emerge stronger for the trial...

Muzhaa'f nods silently to Maldris. Back at Skyreach, he contacts Valsin and provides him with select portions of the gathered intelligence, but holds on to that which concerns Maldris... for now.

Thanks for playing everyone! And thanks to EF for running a fun module as always.
