Lying to a paladin? For shame, lol...

The woman frowns at the party's response. "Hmmm. Well the Voice of Iomedae has told me that the Pathfinders in town and the entire Pathfinder Society are engaged in villainy. I have no interest in letting such run around mucking up the proceedings here. Just carry on and try not to joke of such things...." With that she turns away but not before giving the group a suspicious look up and down.

Ok, let's start the afternoon phase of Day 2! Just as a reminder, here are a few suggested locations you can try out: Fairgrounds/Tent City, Otto's Farm, General Store, Beer Garden, or anyplace else in the city (hitting up the streets, etc).

![]() |

Ryskovich will head over to the beer gardens. He needs a good ale after just meeting uptight woman.

On the Streets
Jerrik learns from the people on the street that another stranger, this one tall and quiet with a patch of hair missing from the back of his head, has been in town for about as long as the Pathfinders have. He sometimes asks more questions about the accused than is considered seemly in these parts.
Beer Garden
Those at the Beer Garden hear from one of the bartenders, "Now I've heard tell that two small children saw one of the Pathfinders mutilating the body of the second victim. They barely escaped when the Pathfinder chased them. But I know for a fact that that's a bunch of hogwash. My wife works at the school and knows just about every child in this town and she says there ain't a lick of truth to that."
"Course, there's lots of people claiming it was possession by demons too, and that can't be the case. There ain't no way the demons' magic could have reached that far into the city without an invasion. Sure, there was possession at Kenebres, but only after the demons were wandering the streets!"
Otto's farm
Tessara heads to Otto's farm: Otto’s farm covers 10 acres of land that are presently unplanted and a farmhouse at the center of the fields. A line of trees along the west side of the house forms a windbreak. The property is five miles down the main road from Dawnton, and you can recognize it by its distinctive yellow hexagonal sign. Although hundreds of people have passed the farm in the past week, Otto is a private and imposing sort who has kept his farm clear of interlopers and the crime scene largely undisturbed.
Otto is a powerfully built, clean-shaven man in his late thirties. He calls out to Tessara as she approaches, accusing her of being a trespasser and insisting she leave. Tessara is quick to calm his nerves though and after a moment Otto apologizes for his behavior and agrees to show Tessara around.
As he walks Tessara around his property, he relates that he had come out before dawn to feed his chickens when he spotted the victim (a young man) hanged and swinging from a tree. Otto is very insistent about the man having been naked, though he clarifies a moment later that the corpse wasn’t simply without clothes. It had been skinned—skinned alive, according to Otto’s somewhat imaginative estimation.
For Tessara:
As Tessara searches the scene, Otto continues to share what he has heard about the situation: "Ya see, some folks are up in arms about some witch who's going to turn the dead against the town, but don't be listening to that, it's just a bunch of people causin' fear where there ain't cause to be afraid. Just like them people going around saying the victim was left out on my farm 'cause I worship demons. There ain't no sense in that talk and I hope you're not listening to it."

Otto's Farm
The old farmer responds to Tessara, "No, I can't say I've seen anything of that make around these parts. Not quite the style of anyone I know. But then again I don't get out much."
On the Streets
Nikomedes spends the afternoon on the streets and catches up with an interesting personality: an older woman who was present at the arrest of the halfling Pathfinder, "Nah, he wasn't covered in blood or anything, that's just some wild tale going about. I was there, I saw it: he came along nice and cooperative, no big fuss or nothing. And there wasn't no devil circle they was dancing in neither!" Her voice lowers a bit and she whispers, "Now I think you ought to be careful though. There's been this fella with black hair and little patch of fuzz on his chin that's been taking an interest in some of you new folks going around and asking about the murders."

That night the party stays in and has drinks, sharing information and theories but overhearing nothing new or interesting from the crowd at the inn.
Nothing found that phase. You sleep soundly at the inn tonight. . .
---
@Tessara:
Just after dusk, a cry brings a crowd to the alley just north of the Hearth and Harvest. The party stumbles out of the inn to find a crowd gathered around the bodies of two murdered men with a dagger sticking out of the chest of one of the men. From the crowd, someone shouts, “The dagger! It belongs to that one!” The crowd scowls at Tessara and begins to surround her to await the Sheriff's arrival.
Sheriff Luin arrives a few seconds later. "What is going on here?" After hearing the accusation, he turns to the party. "Well? What have you got to say in response?"

Only a dolt would leave their own weapon to be found. And could a dolt have pulled off all these murders? It was probably meant to frame the owner.

The crowd seems unconvinced but Tobias Luin is able to calm the onlookers and convince everyone to move along and leave it to him. As the crowd disperses, he informs you that he’s not ready to arrest you, but he’s not ready to let you traipse about unwatched either. He then takes his leave, ensuring you that you will be under watch from now on.

Ok, you can now take your morning actions for Day 3!

Anything found on the bodies at all?
Jerrik will attempt to figure out where the men came from and try to retrace their steps either by asking around or by looking for physical evidence.
Would Tess have an idea of when the last time she knew she had her dagger would be?

![]() |

"Well, someone's clearly out to get us in the same pickle as the first group of Pathfinders. Could it be that paladin we saw earlier? She might not have believed the rest of you when I admitted being a member.". Nothing beyond the dagger. Tess remembers having the dagger yesterday.
No one besides Tess has gone to the farm yet.

Jerrik finds out that the men had been out drinking at at least two different establishments that night and must have been heading home when they were attacked.
The party notices that plainsclothes officers occasionally watch the party for a few moments before moving along.
You can still take 'actions' talking to people, checking out the farm, etc, if you wish.

![]() |

It was the dagger that did them in, that much I am sure of. But who placed it there I can not tell. What do you all think of checking out the farm?
