ok we seem to be fine going through this game, no one is unhappy how its been run except for this last encounter and I didn't expect a reset that complete... slightly generous of the gm.

![]() |

Thanks for the reset, but I didn't necessarily a do-over, just wanted a status update. Either way, more than fair. Thanks.

GM Chyro |

Well Sele, things seemed to become a bit of a rather complicated knot.
I've got to fix it somehow.
Anyway, spares me feeling bad of knocking you down on the 1st round.

![]() |

Don't worry I did my bit to not then make it a complete push over by flubbing and rolling a 5.

![]() |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Ive had 18, 18 , 19 rolled to hit against my characters today and each has been 1 shot. Ive also had highest roll of 5... this dice roller can go die in a fire.

![]() |

Sele, do you have a potion of cure light wounds that could have told us about, you now something like;
I´d never need it, but if I ever go down, you could find a cure potion in [place] to give it to me

![]() |

Umm.. no. And my last adventure only gave 1 pp so no wand clw

GM Chyro |

tbh, i thought druids prepared 1 clw to be safe.
Try 1st aid, DC15.

![]() |

I've got a wand tucked away in my wrist sheath. But, there is this little problem swinging a greataxe at me...
If we can just get rid of the little brute, I can spring it and drop it, and someone can pick it up and tap him while I go poke a few others.

![]() |

i'm ok atm... i'll last a few more round .. you concentrate on surviving Asami

GM Chyro |

One saving grace is the flock of birds you guys are conjuring up.
It's bound to make up for the mist.

![]() |

Ha I failed fort again.. I wonder if i'll roll over 10 before this adventure finishes

![]() |

We've got a guy in my home group that rolls more 1s than really should be allowed. It doesn't matter what dice he uses, I tracked him over several nights and he rolls a 1 in about every 8 rolls or so. It really sucks, since he plays a paladin too and can only really miss his saves when he rolls a 1, which he does just as often if not more than the rest of the group.

GM Chyro |

Man, that sucks. :/
Reminds me of playing mists of mwangi, not all nat 1, but the ranger missed on all his shots, with the rest of us having a hit ratio of perhaps 75-80%

GM Chyro |

Along with the turning tide of combat, i'd like to ask;
Who would like to do a 3rd scenario?
I'm considering buying Frozen Fingers of Midnight, from season 0.
Located in the snowy northlands of Irissen.
It'd be 4 of you hitting the next lvl, if i'm not mistaking.
Sele & Nym have done Fallen Fortress prior to this.
Asami & Keera have gotten credit from my WGB, which resolved almost simultaneously btw.
Edit, it however seems a 1 PP reward.

![]() |

I would love to. The credit for WGB actually ended up with a different character (-3 Mirima, level 2 and doing something in the mines right now). Luckily Asami got a GM credit, so she's keeping pace with everyone. Asami would love to continue traveling with everyone, once we clean up this little mess here.

![]() |

Keera would love to continue with this group, but she will be only level 1 (Just WbG and this)
By the way, do you consider to be an evil act to coup the grace the f@#* halfling. If not I´m going to stop him foreever

GM Chyro |

I'm going with yes, though he deserved the beating. He's been run through for wanting to run already.
No worry Keera, i meant with the 3rd scenario you'd hit 2nd lvl.
Wbg, this and that scenario.

![]() |

Have played Frozen Fingers for Credit. If you went with Silent Tide (00-01) I'd play along...

![]() |

I am quite confused about a few things:
1)Did the Grease spell cause the halfling and red-head to fall prone? I don't see any mention of it, or the associated Reflex saves. Like it never happened.
2) If prone, the halfling takes an AC penalty of -4 Also, if the halfling is raging, he already has a -2 penalty to his AC. A cumulative -6 penalty, if prone, means that when Keera's bird rolled 15,16, then one of those was likely a hit, unless they guy has an 22+AC to start with. My version of the PDF says his raging AC is 15. Prone, that is 11. Even Asami's rapier should've been a hit, I think. Just saying, he would've taken several more hits than were counted. If he's not prone, I didn't see the DC 16 Reflex to avoid it.
3) If prone, Ledford;s attacks also take a -4 penalty on to hit rolls, so his 16 to hit the first bird would've been only a 12, and therefore a miss against an eagle.
4) Summon Monster 1 or Summon Nature's Ally are full round cast spells, so as Fosco or Keera cast them, the creature can't attack in the same round (unless they have some ability or effect that I really want).
Not trying to rules-laywer the game here, but these effects are why I cast Grease in the first place, trying to level the playing field with our power hitter down. Please advise what I missed.

GM Chyro |

I don't have it yet, so i could switch. But it has mixed reviews.
1 Their reflexes were in the spoiler, if you prefer those above spoilered text, i'll do so next time.
2 Looking at pfsrd, you are right, it was my (mis) understanding prone would merely provide a +4 bonus to hit someone who is prone. Which btw, you typed as such too ;) Some games take it either way, more common i see is the +4 to hit.
3 Ledford is higher up the init list and hit the bird prior to you hitting with grease.
4 Summoners need a standard action, instead of full round, to cast summon monster. It's a class feature. I 'think' i didn't skip something on Keera's eagle, i'll have a look.

![]() |

Thanks for the explanations:
1) Didn't read the spoilered text. Perhaps a status of the enemy outside the spoiler (ie, prone) would help. I will try to read them closer, but am just so used to skipping spoilers that don't say my name, that I just over looked it. Didn't know, for example, that the red-head stood back up and cast a spell already.
2. Ok, I don't think anyone was adding to their attack rolls. Like I said, I think there would've been many more hits either way.
3. Makes sense
4. Didn't know that as I've not run summoners before. Good to know.

GM Chyro |

Summoners also provide fun rp options.
I also mention statuses on the map as well, for convenience.

![]() |

Yes like having something random eat the summoner with ketchup as they are quite powerful seeems popular.
Id be ok continuing on.. Sele still alive considering all his crap combatness..

![]() |

Yeah, Summoners can summon quickly. Most people forget because they usually keep an Eidolon around. Fosco has kept his hidden because he wasn't really needed and he likes to keep things close to the vest.
About joining you for another one, I'm torn. Fosco is really fun, but I think they're changing the Summoner when the Unleashed book is coming out in April. I'm not sure of the rules and such, but I'd hate to get partway through playing him and end up with having to rewrite his crunch completely, as his Eidolon is probably the thing that will go, and that's the reason I wrote him up in the first place.
In other words, I'm still thinking about it.

GM Chyro |

Darn, i hadn't heard about a summoner adjustment :/

![]() |

Yeah, supposedly they are doing something like the animal companions, where you have different outsiders that you can take and then adjust feats and ability scores slightly. I liked the idea that you could make anything you wanted, but now it's looking more regulated which is sad.
I do think that Summoners are a bit stronger than they should be, but they do miss out on versatility, especially in the higher levels. Of course, PFS never really gets that high, so they tend to outshine the full casters. That's a bit of a problem.
Now when they do a nerf, sometimes they let the people who made their characters earlier keep going with it, and sometimes they allow a rewrite. Either way, I'm probably going to hold off on too much with Fosco until it's ironed out. One day I'd like to get a character all the way up, but after I quit playing my first and I'm unsure about my second, I'll have to make up a third.
I'm thinking Hunter. I built one for an AP, but I could probably transfer him over without too much trouble.

GM Chyro |

Aw man, i hope if what you're guessing is true. I have a lvl 2 summoner and i want to keep his eidolon that way. It's not cool to make it just another type of animal companion, rangers druids and shamans have them already. As far as OP, i don't know. I've only heard the non pfs synthesist was.

GM Chyro |

Keera, hereby you are knighted.
Knight-druid of the PFS.

GM Chyro |

Pardon here Keera, you did not get 7 dmg, your AC is 18, vs Deandre's 16 roll. ^^

GM Chyro |

You sure man? I mean summoners can make beautiful things. :)
Example, when fighting anything with DR, eidolons can make excellent get-around-it with evolutions.
Blending in the shadows for surprise attacks.
Nonsentient Companions: a nonsentient companion (one with animal-level intelligence) is loyal to you in the way a well-trained dog is—the creature is conditioned to obey your commands, but its behavior is limited by its intelligence and it can't make altruistic moral decisions—such as nobly sacrificing itself to save another. Animal companions, cavalier mounts, and purchased creatures (such as common horses and guard dogs) fall into this category. In general they're GM-controlled companions. You can direct them using the Handle Animal skill, but their specific behavior is up to the GM.With you snoozing for the next 8 rounds, i'd feel it logical it's guarding your sleeping person.

GM Chyro |

Huh? :/
3 vs 1 is generally win.
You're going to win, have faith in the birds an Nym.

![]() |

I didn't know there was a wand lying there, or wouldn't have burned my potion using a full round action to do it.
If it's there, can I pick that up instead of readying quarterstaff?

![]() |

You can't use that wand unless you have CLW on your spell list anyway (or UMD skill). I was thinking Sele can pick it up and take care of himself with it while you're busy keeping Deandre(?) at bay. But, man she moved fast. Did Sele have a chance at grabbing it the turn he got administered to? At that point Deandre was around the corner and wouldn't be able to hit Sele if he grabbed it. I'd advice finding a way to lure that evil Deandre away. Full withdraw while fighting defensively may help. Especially if you move past the roc and Deandre tries to move through. Just an unconscious suggestion for the smart but not strong combatant :)
