Jokbur continues the process of searching for other secret rooms.
"Maybe the next secret room will have a pony."
He makes an oblique reference to show he is an optimist.

Completely miffed by Jokbur's comment, Qui looks up at the tall elf.
Or flies. Tasty flies.
Jonas didn't like leaving a mystery unexplored, but he wasn't going to argue. He gave one last glance at the slimy ceiling and followed the others out.
You decide to leave this room and continue your search of the rest of the rooms for any secret doors. While searching one of the final rooms, a small herd of zombies came stumbling in, looking for fresh meat.

Uh oh. Didn't think to prepare for this...
Realizing that his weapons weren't going to b very effective against these particular undead, Jonas gritted his teeth and stepped in next to Hermann to block their approach.
"Ari, uh... can I borrow your sword?" He said a little sheepishly. "Blades are best against these guys and I... forgot to buy one."
Moving into position next to Hermann to take advantage of AoOs before dropping my polearm and (hopefully) getting a sword to use.

I think we would have entered the room more closely spaced than how the map is currently set up.
Round 1
"Jonas, you can can borrow my backup shortsword," says Hermann. "If swords're better against these things, don't take hers."
Likewise dropping his longspear on Jonas' advice, he drew his backup weapon and handed it over to the younger man before drawing his greatsword.
"I prefer the sword over the pike, myself, despite the advantages of the longer weapon."

There are close to 50 "levels" comprised of 15 Levels which will typically have two to four different areas such as 6A, 6B, or 6C. The area we're in is Level 0 I think C; which has at least one more "layer" for a "grand designation" of 0C-1, Rooms 1-? I have it as well, but have not read anything above Level 7 or so since I'm playing instead of running. Obviously it's not necessary (let alone desirable) to methodically proceed through every room of every Level; when we've gotten a few more character levels we'll be able to wander a lot more depending on what we want to do. Historically-speaking, Rappan Athuk was first created in the mid 70s and has undergone active "expansion" ever since. Many areas feature nods to the creator's past adventuring groups - like the glue floor with the boot, and the skeletal hand. The final Level, Level 15, has supposedly never been reached by an adventuring party let alone "beaten". It's completely bananas, featuring Orcus CR 33 plus a bunch of other stuff for an estimated CR 45 final encounter.

Orcus has just never met the man-frog.
Ok you have three choices (and really you only have 2)
First Stairs you found in the leech room. Second stairs was at the Iron Cobra you fought. Third stairs was in the secret passage (and that actually didn't go down a level, only to a secret passage that leads to the bottom of the SW pit trap in the very first room.
