Monster Reference during Encounters

Advice

Apart from destroying your Bestiary by flipping through it during combat, how do you guys suggest referencing monsters during a session.

1. Copy and print out a Stat-Sheet during prep and keep it on file to produce when needed? or
2. Scan (or copy if you have the PDF) the page out of the Bestiary and start a file that way, to be produced when playing.

And while Im at it, do you usually use the monsters "as is" in the Bestiary or is customization common?

If you have access to a laptop, keeping an online reference like The Pathfinder RPG Reference Document or D20 PF SRD open can be very useful, and lets you find things quickly and easily through search terms rather than by flipping through pages.

Whether I do the monsters as is or through customization really depends on the situation. I like custom monsters, so I make adjustments of class levels and templates to many of them, but monsters that can be used straight off the page are convenient enough that I probably actually use them more than I use altered ones.
