Ah, I misunderstood.

Randall thinks back on the doors in question, trying to remember if either of them had an squeak that would give him away if he tried to open one. If so, he will open the other one. Moving carefully, he opens the door as quietly as possible just enough to peek through.

Preferring the hallway to the kitchen if both should be quiet.

Moving in quietly, he motions for Firiel to join him and for someone to hold the door open behind them. He moves to the first door and listens carefully, motioning Firiel to do the same.

He repeats the process at the other door, also, assuming there's not a pressing reason for other action after the first listen.

What way would that be? Randall will be as cautious as ever, including checking for traps on Saul's door and the immediate approach (10').

The party heads south through the hallway toward the stairs up to the second floor. The sound of someone descending the stairs is more pronounced now. As everyone files into the hallway, Randall opens the door just in time to see Saul disappearing around the corner into the kitchen. "Help! Intruders!" he yells as he retreats. Hans, one of the Gold Goblin's longtime guards, grins wickedly and hefts his rather large club, barring the door to keep anyone from following Saul.

I was going off Njord's statement that he was heading toward Saul's apartment. He didn't say anything to the contrary after your post requesting a lead...

Jametor hears movement behind the door to the east.

Njord steps forward and slices Beyar in half. Drawing his flail, Antal holds it up defensively and looks worried. Total defense.

The door next to Jametor opens and a new face pokes through, along with a scimitar blade that swings uncomfortably close to the elf's pointy ears. The man near Antal stabs at him ineffectually, and the big tough fellow who just entered from the kitchen growls and follows Njord with a swing of his blade.
