Can Eldak and Hangust see Butharn?
Eldak walks over to the window and looks out it and sees.....
So, Butharn can't see us so I am guessing we might be in Room 8A right now but where is this Osprey fellow? Maybe he already went through. Hangust, we are missing something important.
Seeing Hangust has already searched the room fairly thoroughly.
What if we were to exit this room while in this "extra dimension"? Do you still have the key in your hand or is it in the door?
Chaosorbit
|
Eldak and Hangust can't see Butharn, and visa versa.
Looking out the window Eldak sees the lawns surrounding Arliss Hall.
The key is in the door and it's locked.
Daveak goes looking for Butharn, finding him in Room 8, However there is no sign of Eldak and Hangust.
Chaosorbit
|
Eldak touches the mirror, in which he sees his completion, and nothing happens.
However, either Butharn or Daveak touches the mirror and they discover a portal.
Hangust
|
Hangust raises an eyebrow at the Tengu and tilts his head.
"How do you know Butharn can't see us? Have you heard from him somehow?" He shrugs and goes to exit the room, "I already tried the mirror, I'm going to check the other rooms."
Hangust unlocks the door and steps into the hallway.
Chaosorbit
|
Eldak sees himself reflected in the mirror. He is now by himself in room 8, and the door is unlocked.
Hangust
|
Hangust heads towards what is presumably room six and inspects that room.
"Has anyone found anything yet? All I found was a key but it doesn't do anything special." He shouts to the rest of his group.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Chaosorbit
|
Noz finds a thin red quill and thicker black one are near the registry.
Hangust enters room 6, shouting to the others for any updates. He finds nothing of interest in room 6 which looks much like room 7 and 8.
Daveak Fallenheart
|
Daveak attempts to go threw the portal
Someone should come with just in case. Here is the other end of this rope just in case
daveak will tie a rope around his waist then hand it to whoever is still in the room with him. think its Eldak
Hangust
|
It's Butharn, Eldar is by himself.
Frustrated that he isn't funding anything of use Hangust goes out back by the fointain/pool and searches something that at least may look different.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

Look at the spoiler as appropriate
You see Daveak step into the mirror and disappear.
Stepping through the mirror you find yourself in a small room, you've just stepped through a fulllength mirror is bolted to northwest wall.
The southeast corner of this room has broken off along with part of the floor. Rubble, loose bricks, and masonry litter the edges. Beyond the opening, blue sky and the Absalom’s city skyline are plainly visible. A solitary door is closed to the south.
Hangust moves into the courtyard and searches around a lovely pool. You don't find anything that looks like a portal.
Butharn Longaxe
|
Butharn shouts out I am following Daveak through the mirror portal in room 8 come through as soon as you can!
And then steps through the mirror. Leaving the end of the rope on the floor.
Eldak Blackbeak
|
At this point, Eldak is not really sure what to do. He steps out of room 8 despite the fact that the key to the room is the "key" to this mystery, he shouts out in frustration....
Hello, can anyone hear me?
Hangust
|
Hangust returns to the main hallway and answers Eldak while searching for everyone else.
"I can hear you Eldak! Hey Noz, where did Butharn and Daveak go?"
Chaosorbit
|
Indeed Eldak is in the hallway with Hangust, Noz and Phythor are also nearby. No sign however of Butharn and Daveak. Noz thought they were also in room 8 with you?
Eldak Blackbeak
|
I have an idea. I think using the key in room 8 opens the mirror portal in that room and that is where Butharn and Daveak went. But for some reason whoever is in the room when the key is used is unable to access the portal or see any one going into the room and go through. Unfortunately this means someone is going to stay behind.
Hangust
|
Alright, so I don't continue to hold us up I'm just going to assume Noz and Pythor filled Hangust in so my player and PC knowledge aren't conflicting anymore.
"That doesn't seem very fair. Are you sure we haven't missed anything?" Hangust re-enters room at and locks the door behind him and anyone else who might choose to enter with him , but this time he takes a more thorough look at the room.
taking 20 for 27 otherwise I'll take 10 for 17 and if I don't find anything new Hangust will offer to stay behind.
Chaosorbit
|
Noz enters the room, but unfortunately the mirror doesn't seem to do anything. Eldak seems to have it right, but just as Hangust notes that doesn't seem very fair, there must be some way for everyone to go!
Eldak has deduced how it works, when some enters room 8 and locks the door, any entering after instead enters room 8A and can access the portal...but now how can the last person join them.
Hangust reenters the room, searching thoroughly you find a comfortable looking bed, a nightstand with a wash basin, a full length mirror, a small chest, and a window that overlooks the courtyard.
@Hangust, yes I appreciate you not metagaming it, it was entertaining to think of Hangust going about his search quite oblivious while other are going through the portal.
Stepping through the mirror Butharn finds himself in a small room, you've just stepped through a fulllength mirror is bolted to northwest wall.
The southeast corner of this room has broken off along with part of the floor. Rubble, loose bricks, and masonry litter the edges. Beyond the opening, blue sky and the Absalom’s city skyline are plainly visible. A solitary door is closed to the south.
You find Daveak there.
Hangust
|
Can I exit the room through the window? Is there a walkway, maybe a climb check?
Hangust looks out the window and opens it. He looks to see if he can climb over to room 7 and grabs anything he can to start the climb,
Climb if yes: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Chaosorbit
|
Hangust is easily able to climb out the window and climb into the window of room 7, exiting it. He he joins Eldak outside of room 8. Noz and Phythor join as well. And the 4 of you enter room 8, now the mirror is activated. You all step throw and join Daveak and Butharn.
You've just stepped through a full-length mirror bolted to northwest wall.
The southeast corner of this room has broken off along with part of the floor. Rubble, loose bricks, and masonry litter the edges. Beyond the opening, blue sky and the Absalom’s city skyline are plainly visible. A solitary door is closed to the south.
Congrats! You have passed Arliss Hall
Chaosorbit

Eldak checks the door for traps and find it is not trapped nor locked; however, attempts to open it find some resistance on the other side it seems it may be blocked by something.
Strength check to open, or you can try to climb around where the wall is broken, if you dare.
Noz
|
Noz will attempt to push open the door, but looks to the others for some help.
Waiting for assists, but then here is the roll, please add assists as appropriate
Strength Check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Chaosorbit
|
Noz moves to the door, asking for assistance he proceeds to push the door open without help.
Outside the door you find a circular chamber with 4 other doors.
Chaosorbit
|
The tower is exposed where it pulled away from the rest of the Grand Lodge. Support pillars hold the roof aloft. Other than the doors already mentioned Daveak doesn't see anything unusual.
Sorry bout your nat 20
Chaosorbit
|
Eldak moves to the north door, finding now traps and it unlocked he opens it to find a set of stairs wind upward past tight corners to a higher level.
Chaosorbit
|
Eldak again finds the unlocked door not trapped opening it.
Old cots and moth-eaten blankets smothered in a thick layer of dust confirm that no one has been posted atop this tower in years.
Not to belabor this section.
Eldak moves to the next door.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Finding it likewise unlocked and not trap, he proceeds.
This room contains ancient siege supplies stored here when Skyreach was considered a fortress in the traditional sense. Barrels of oil and a decrepit wheelbarrow are here, as well as several crates of serviceable arrows
Eldak examines the final door.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Not locked or trapped.
It contains the remains of stairs leading down, now disturbed by the gaping hole in the side of the building.
Hangust
|
Hangust waits as patiently as he can while his companion opens every door buy eventually he decides to push on.
"Who knows what the Aspis are doing in there! Let's head up the stairs!"
He enters the northwestern door and starts climbing trying to remain undetected lest he be attacked.
Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Hangust leads the charge to the top of the tower, a door opens to reveal.
The top floor of the tower is an open, undivided by interior walls but for the small space partitioning the stairwell. Windows large enough to step through line the exterior walls. Immense magical circles are permanently etched into the floor, their lines and curves inscribed and filled with several types of metallic powder. Faint, multi-colored mist roils within the southern circle. Two strange contraptions stand near the northwest and southwest windows. Each device is a large, red-tinted crystalline lens mounted in a frame so that they may be angled in all directions.
Three Aspis Agents stare at the entrance to the stairs. They don't seem to be surprised to see you.
The largest of the three, a half-orc holds a strange looking device.
The item is the Sky Key!
Well took you long enough to find us. Was wondering if we would get a chance to kill some more pathfinders before our escape could be secured! The big man grunts.
Another agent stands behind one of the lens devices. The other is near a pillar opposite the others.

The agent (green) behind the device quickly aims it at Hangust, a ray of scorching red flames erupts from the crystalline lens.
Ranged touch: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
damage: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7
The ray narrowly misses as the man's aim is slightly off.
The other man (red) runs forward attacking Hangust with his short sword.
Short Sword: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
But the sword finds the mark, cutting into Hangust side.

As the sword cuts into him Hangust starts to see red but he fights it off and takes a step to the side and attacks the foe in front of him with both weapons.

Hangust steps to the side, attacking with his Kukris. The first one misses, but the second one grazes the foe. His tactical acumen has prevented the Aspis boss from both charging and flanking him.
Nevertheless, the half-orc rushes forward jamming the door and takes a mighty swing of his finely crafted greataxe at Hangust.
GreatAxe: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
