Muli Dyren |

Muli looks up from spicing his refilled ale, "There will be no Muli left behind on this. Muli just needs to gather some pelts and herbs to work with."
Definitely looking to have the Cauldron ID'd, but if it proves to be useful, it is something the Muli can use to Brew Potions (if given time)

Ragnar Sköld Född |

Ragnar grunts "If the bastard get of the is-trow turn... for mine you can save your gold. I'd ask only for the pelt of the one I laid out."
I think we're pretty much ready to rock on to tomorrow? - perhaps Luke can plumb us a path that will sweep past the dweorg before coming upon the puca?

Luke Falgren |

Aye, then, let's be headin' towards my homeland, and the Puca, with a brief stop by the dweorg?
Luke will certainly pick a path that leads us by the Dweorg in route to the ultimate destination.
Survival: 1d20 + 7 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 7 + 3 = 21
Knowledge Geography: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 7 + 2 = 25
@DM BD: is that possible?

Black Dow: DM O' The North |

Petrik is indeed a guide; although Luke is a warden of these lands and knows it better than most...
(refer to the Regional map of Berghof for this :)
Based on the information you gather from the captain and some patrons it seems likely that the dweorg merchant is skirting the southernmost border of the region and will come directly north to Halbriden.
By cutting directly SE, braving some Nirras fords and crossing the western-most of the bridges near Halbriden you will likely intercept the slow moving merchant train south of the town, between the fork of the tributaries.
You conclude your business with Garrick Emberspear and settle in for the night. The merchants also take their leave remining you that offers of trade still stand come brek-fast.
Senses slightly dulled by medu and tiredness - sleep comes easily to you all save Nadia who remains wary of this group of hard bitten men...
Feel free to engage in any oil lamp conversation, likewise for any attempts to identify items, otherwise the night in the common hall of the ale-hus passes without incident.
I'll give everyone a wee while to consider the above/plan any trade & purchases and update their coin with 50gp each. Presume that most items will be considered, should you wish to purchase anything for the journey...

Luke Falgren |

Before bedding down for the night, Luke asks around for anyone in town that would be able to quickly fashion the dimhíw firgenholt (the Iobarian form of darkwood) that he holds as raw material into 16 Darkwood Arrows?
Garrick, How long ago did dweorg Highmettle leave?
Luke will try to pick up the trail at first light to track down and catch-up to the dwarf and his party.
Survival: taking 20 for a 30 total.

Nadia Prasnaglava |

Nadia prepares herself for sleep. Before laying down for the night she walks over and whispers to Muli.
It is nice to meet you. I appreciate your kindness and the document you provided. I am in search of information about my past and I would like to travel with you and your companions. I promise that I will prove to be an asset to your group.

Luke Falgren |

I believe Petrik is a Guide(2). Kevkul would make good use of his acolyte.
After leading your dwarven, drunken ass all over Berghof, you would think that you would respect me a little more than a Guide (2) that you picked up on the road...I'm offended! LOL!

"Oh...aye." Muli nods a little uncomfortably. " Pretty girl is talking to Muli..... Someone else for Muli to talk to beside Muli is always welcome. Soooo....your past lies the way Muli and friends be walking? Will you know it when you see it?" Muli arranges the furs on the floor that will be his bed. He has a stuffed raccoon for a pillow. Seeing her gaze at the critter, "Muli has more if you would like one....just don't pop 'um. Shouldn't be bad but safest not to."

Nadia Prasnaglava |

Yes...I think it does lie on the path you are traveling. Unfortunately, I am not sure if I will recognize it or not. Is that your cauldron?

Heh... like it... lots o' posts and ground to cover...
Garrick bows his head appreciatively at Ragnar's claim of the Irrenser pelt, should they be for changing, then answers Luke wearily, yawning as his cups and sleep take hold;
"Their trail is twánihte Luke; rúh auroch pulled cratu, some drovers and a dozen or so healda. Auld Ǽdensor hired on some Nolanders as írrídelas... planned tae mittan with them by now..."
Emberspear yawns mightily and laughs as he tosses a heavy purse upon the table;
"Fare thee well friends! Aspendan it wisely har!"
twánihte = two days (c)old
rúh = shaggy
cratu = carts
healda = guards
írrídelas = fore guards, outriders
mittan = meet with
aspendan = spend
The tall captain then leans in embrace Luke, before heading from the inn with a nod to you collectively.
He whispers quietly to you;
If Highmettle is taking on the likes o' Nolanders, he fears something... Keep em safe lad... you and yours eh...
Garrick shares a whispered word with Luke; Nolanders, fear and safe were mentioned
The pouch contains 300 gold marcs

Okay now a more gear focussed post... :)
Luke has little difficulty locating the fletcher, but somewhat more convincing him to work through the night to fashion his arrows;
Luke give me a Diplomacy check please mate...
Nadia examines Quern's battered kettle, with awe and interest;
Your keen eyes discern tiny runes along the kettles base - those tied to transmutation arcane magicks; If your intuition and Muli's hunch are right this old kettle may well function similarly to a Cauldron of Brewing;
The cauldron is capable of heating any liquid placed in it to a precise temperature (anywhere from just above room temperature to hot enough to boil salt water) and maintaining it indefinitely while still remaining only slightly warm to the touch on the outside. A cauldron of brewing provides a +5 competence bonus on Craft (alchemy) skill checks.
Once you explain your findings in-game Muli/anyone interested can look at the spoiler above. Any other Identifying going on?? Once were done I'll kick off the morning and get you back to the wilds - feel free to discuss the info/findings above as necessary before "lights out" :)

Black Dow: DM O' The North |

We all like a challenge nei? :)
Your charm, coin and good reputation combine to convince the fletcher to work through the night;
Best he can do by morning will be 4 arrows (Darkwood) with the remaining 12 available when (if) you return...
As your only paying for labour, he'll say a gold marc per arrow and another 9 for the lost sleep... 25 in total...

Nadia Prasnaglava |

Muli, may I look at your cauldron? Nadia walks over to the cauldron and begins inspecting it. Yes...very nice. You see these runes? They are of the bealucræft school of transmutation.
She looks further. Very nice indeed. I think the cauldron will aide you in your crafting of drync. The runes stabilize the temperature while you are heating and cooling the liquids.
She looks up and smiles. See...I can be useful. Do you have anything else that needs to be inspected?

At the sound of nordmännen among Ǽdensor guard, Ragnar is curious to find if they will be as kinsmen or traitors to their homeland like the Irrisener inavlade he dealt with this night. Emberspear is given a warrior's handshake as he leaves.
inavlade - inbreds
Ragnar hears Nadia's well meant request to inspect anything of Muli's that he desires.... and gamely resists the desire to engage in innuendo of a vulgar variety. Allowing himself a wry smile and forced cough to cover his mirth.

Kevkul Steelhide |

Kevkul stands apart watching the flustered Muli receive the attentions of the newest member of the group. Sadly looking at the bracers he had gotten off from Quern's hut, it has been evident lore of the magics surrounding the pair is sadly lacking. After the young woman pauses, Kevkul steps up and addresses her.
Young lass, would ye be kind and fathom what would these bracers do?
Kevkul offers her the bracers for a closer inspection.

To the barbarian: Be careful...the mead is stout.

Black Dow: DM O' The North |

Interestingly you find only one of the bracers exhibits any magickal quality, despite them being identical. In both cases they are leather with fanciful patterning in the ancient cyclopean style. However the bracer for the left hand (the one that is magical) has a small carved eye upon it... The item exudes a faint aura of the aubjuration school of magic and has a single word in arcane runes upon it... However its ken is beyond your understanding... Should you choose to cast read magic move onto the next spoiler :)
The arcane tongue says simply "see"... Once you speak the word the eye on the bracer snaps open revealing a gemstone pupil.

Nadia holds one bracer up. This one is normal, but this one...hmmm She notices a small carved eye. This one is special.
Nadia begins to chant. Kalis'stren Read Magic The eye opens revealing a glowing purple gemstone.
When activated, it appears to be able to point out objects that have a magical aura. It also protects the wearer from attacks on their mind.
She hands the bracers back to the dwarf.

The medu filled dwarf's mouth twitches a little, displaying an inner joy his atrophied muscles of grinning could not portray. His hands begin to move, intent on giving the young lass a dwarven pat but then thinks the better of it. Nevertheless Kevkul gives a respectful nod instead.
Kevkul doesn't need the will save and could cast Detect Magic. I propose Muli gets the bracers as he has the skills but not the means.

Muli Dyren |

Well I can definitely use the bracers, but feel bad that I can use the cauldron as well (although I hope to put that to use for the group.) Plus that doesn't leave us with anything meaningful to sell, if someone was looking to pick up anything worthwhile. As it is, Muli will just be picking up bomb components (Critters and Herbs and Powders)
Looking over the bracers, "If Quern was able to put these to use, Muli figures it should work for Muli as well."

Moonday 15th Lamashan (Late Autumn)
A Cald Morning in Gánnáhwǽr…
You all awake and soon busy yourselves about preparing to once again set foot upon the Iobarian tundra. Those of you wishing to collect or purchase trade items do so; all of you fill your bellies with a hearty breakfast and as the sun rises, you group assembles at the gate.
Feel free to purchase any additional items you may require, anything unusual run it past me. Is anyone taking the clothing merchants up on their offer of an enchanted ermine cloak for 500 marcs? Also remember to add 50gp each for taking up Garrick’s task of meeting up with the dweorg merchant
Petrik comes to you with a request that he may own a holy symbol of the Splendig Wesa himself, but has little coin to speak of, and only the cloak clasp he discovered for trade (and he seems reluctant to part with this given its symbolic value)…
As the gates are opened by the guardsmen, the tall serjeant hails you good travels from the heavy palisade above.
Outside the sky is clear, but an icy wind howls low across the tundra;
You iobarian’s call this kind of gale a “wearg-wynd” - the wolf wind; the frost biter… the harbinger of winter...

Luke Falgren |

Luke rises and heads outside to relieve himself and wash down with frigid water from the well. He enjoys the crisp cold nature of the morning. Upon returning to where the others are stirring awake, he addresses those that can hear his words.
It be cald out there this mornin'. There be a wearg-wynd blowin'. This means that winter is soon upon us.
wearg-wynd = wolf wind
I can confirm that the items assigned to Luke have been added to his sheet, and I have no interest in the others, but would gladly share in the proceeds from their sale.

Added items to sheet, will add money once everything is sold. We should sell off everything not being used to create a clean slate now with Nadia aboard. Would be interested in the merchant's cloak but can't afford it. I figure a few gold for bomb supplies and pelts.

Black Dow: DM O' The North |

Updated Stash to reflect claimants thus-far. The MW Longbow can be sold for 375gp in trade items or 185gp in cash. Presume we've no takers for the human teeth lol. Fishing knife? Nice "flavour" item nei? (especially for an ex-fisherman??? cough "Skølrykk" cough)
teeth will net you 5gp
Moonstone can be easily sold for 50gp
Longbow depends... Hunting and weaponry style traders would gladly part with 375gp in trade items... straight up selling would be more difficult but there are takers with 185gp available - party call
The innkeep approaches you with a propostion... He wishes to mount the Iss Trow's head along with its weapon in a renamed alehus "The Head and Hook". As such he's keen to purchase Gorruk's weapon... His offer is 200 gold marks and an Adamantine Weapon Blanche...
Remember to collect your 4 Darkwood Arrows
@Kevkul: No probs, kit bought. Like that interplay :)

Skølrykk Dråthenborn |

DMBD: Skolrykk already has the scramasax but he'll take the fishing knife! Also, what happened with the Alfur's cloak? Do we know what it does? Last I knew Skolrykk picked it up for safekeeping.
Nadia, gud morrow, I trust you are ready for the journey? Would you look at this cloak I picked up? I am wondering if it has some mystical properties.

Ragnar completes his business with the innkeep and the canny amongst you notice he's light the trow's hook weapon, but his sporran clinks somewhat more than when you all arrived...

Okay - Nadia are you going for a tilt at ID'ing Skol's cloak?
Looking at the MAPS section in Campaign Info I've popped in a region map with Luke's best guess at the location of the Dweorg Merchant by the time you intercept them... The route you take is your call... feel free to discuss :)

Kevkul slaps in a fresh bolt into his heavy crossbow and readies it to fire. With heavy shield on his back and clad in thick winter clothing Kevkul stands ready to face the harsh cold winds of the Icerimes once more.

Fecking 'ell - just noticed my original post has been eaten! Apologies
The biting cold numbs your thinking but you do glean the cloak is magickal in nature, giving off a faint arcane aura that you cannot quite put your finger on...
Given the unusual appearance of the cloak give me another Knowledge (Arcana) check @ DC 16 to jog your memory...

Muli Dyren |

Muli drags his pack out the door before even thinking of trying to wear it. Feeling the bite in the air, he pauses to pull out a wineskin made from polar paw. He gives it a vigorous shake, and pulls one of the claws free from its wax seal. He holds the paw up and aims it for his mouth and squeezes. A trail of a smokey substance squirts into his mouth and sets him to gaging. Given a minute to recover he looks about at teh deary landscape before them and smiles, "Ah, Muli feels much better now. With the Cauldren, Muli will see about brewing up more Spleen of Bar if others are in need. Good for the cold, Muli needs to work on the taste." And then sets into another gagging fit.
Once recovered he harnesses himself to the pack and is ready to set out.

You successfully identify the dead alfur's heavy cape as a Cloak of the Dark Tapestry...
Crunch: This dark hooded cloak is decorated with embroidered comets, moons, and stars along its edge. If you sleep while wearing the cloak, it protects you from hot or cold environments like an endure elements spell, and you may sleep in medium armor without becoming fatigued. You may use know direction once per day.
It provides any worshiper of Desna with additional access to powers...
Crunch:If Desna is your patron, as a standard action you can cause additional stars and celestial bodies to appear on the cloak, matching the current configuration in the sky. You may use longstrider once per day. Once per day, you may throw a tiny, white-burning meteor that has the effect of a flare. Some priests of Desna claim to have cloaks of this type that also allow them to dimension door once per day when under a starry night sky.
