Male Human level 2 Ranger

Vonamir quickly draws another arrow, and takes aim at the bandit with the longbow out

Hit: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Vonamir's arrow flies through the air and opens an important vein on the bandit's thigh, releasing a spray of blood. The bandit colapses to the ground trying to stem the bloodflow for a moment before growing still

Tasyn charges the surviving bandit 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20 for3d6 + 5 ⇒ (1, 2, 5) + 5 = 13 removing bandit's sword arm in a savage overhead chop.

Male Human level 2 Ranger

presuming no one else is leaving the camp....loot the nine bandits we killed?

Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

you find (between all the bandits you have killed)

20d10 ⇒ (6, 5, 8, 4, 6, 10, 8, 4, 6, 8, 8, 7, 2, 10, 5, 7, 6, 9, 4, 5) = 128gold
20d10 ⇒ (10, 3, 1, 8, 2, 3, 4, 2, 4, 4, 8, 9, 3, 4, 9, 8, 8, 6, 8, 3) = 107silver
9 sets of studded leather
7 bucklers
5 longswords
4 short swords
2 heavy crossbows
35 heavy crossbow bolts
2 composite longbows (+1 str)
potion of grease
2 potions of cure light wounds
10 trail rations
1/2 roast pig

Male Elf Alchemist/ Level 1

Dr. McFly ensures the loot gets noted, started rounding things up, divides the gold evenly between everybody, rips out several teeth from the dead bandits, cuts off the head of who appears to be the senior bandit as some proof for the baron, burns down their camp after looting it, and makes his way back to the castle.

Per person:
34gp
6sp
7cp

Equipment goes into group loot.

Male Human level 2 Ranger

If no one minds, I'd like to take one of the composite longbows (+1 str), as its an improvement over my current longbow.

Also, one of the bandits in the group of 5 had a note on him:

Dantor

Ambush a couple of small groups by the stream a day north of the town. Leave no survivers but just leave the last group of bodies on the road. Make sure you are back within 2 days, as Darlath Gur will have futher instructions for you then. As usual you can keep 50% of the value of goods taken.

The Co-ordinator

Male Elf Alchemist/ Level 1

Dr McFly notices there are still more bandits in the camp, but feels that we should head back with the info we have. There appear to be 30 more bandits, ergo I don't actually burn the camp down.

Edit: Go right ahead Von

Half-Elf 2 Rogue

sorry for absence!
I recorded the items in group loot (minus one comp bow), and agree with McFly- however I say we also warn the village on the way back.

Concur. We also warn the village not to do business with Garlath Dur; the hairs on the back of my head raise eerily, as if the name Garlath meant something in a previous life. Marty quickly shakes the feeling off, as he does not believe in such things, and continues to make his way back to the castle, making a pit stop at the village.

The group heads back towards town stoping in a small village about halfway back and warning the headman about the bandits and Darlath Gur. You rest at the village for the night and reach Elithas in time to have a real lunch at a local establishment. The entire journey back passes without major incident. During the meal, Dr McFly invites you to a special diner at the Hog's Head inn this evening.

Male Elf Alchemist/ Level 1

Assuming everybody made my tea party at the Hog's Head, Marty pours everybody some tea and opens up with a speech:

"I am glad you could all make it tonight, I have taken the opportunity on the trip back to stop at the village, gather a few items and get each of you a present. You are all the only peers I have had for at least 22+ years (prison can do that) and as such I wanted to commemorate our small adventure.

For Tasyn, I present to you this pocket-watch, made by myself. The pop-open cover is inscribed in our elvish language with a blessing for a long and prosperous life.

For Vonamir, I know you enjoy reading, so I have made a quick journal containing pertinent notes on Horned Owls. I have also included various nutritional diets as suggestions for your owl's meal plans. You will see I autographed the inside cover.

Last but not least, for Barator, I give you this rosary. You'll notice they it's comprised of the teeth from the bandits we killed, representing death and justice. They are polished up and have carved into them the religious runes of the God of Death. I also happen to worship him, albeit more so from a scientific point of view rather than a religious one. Science searches for absolutes and truths, and the only absolute truth in life is death.

Marty pauses to drink some more tea. Well, I hope you enjoyed the festivities, I would very much like to continue adventures with you all.

With that, Marty sits down, pours himself another tea and appears somewhat dispondent.

Note: If you didn't attend my tea party, you don't get your gift!

Male Human Cleric Lvl 1

Borator looks puzzled for a moment but accepts the gift and sincerly thanks Dr McFly for the thought hes put into it.

Following the party. Borator will medidate/pray for 8 hours IOT alter one of his signature spells.

Male Human level 2 Ranger

Vonamir greatfully thanks the Doctor for the gift, saying it is an honour to recieve some of his work. He then begins reading through the book drinking his tea. Luna sits on his shoulder looking at the pages

"Doctor, would you be so kind to sign the Lore Master's copy of 'Oh, the Places You'll Go as an Alchemist!'? It is a read both me and the Lore Master have enjoyed and helped several experiments we have conducted"

Dr. McFly signs the copy, adding some annotations and footnotes in a few select pages.

The following morning a messenger from the Baron arrives at the inn, requesting the see all of you in 1 hour at the Baron's manor house.

Male Elf Alchemist/ Level 1

I'm there, I bring the bandit head and remind Vonamir to bring the note about Garlath Dur.

To The Mansion we go.

You head to the Baron's manor and as you approach you see a man in a dark cloak exit the manor house. He quickly blends into the random pedestrian traffic outside the building. Once again the guards just seem to know that your group should be allowed inside. You wait momentarily in the main hall before the seneschal arrives and brings you to the study. Come in gentlemen, come in. As I am sure you have heard the situation is growing more dire, attacks on shiping have increased and the castle being build outside of town was attacked a few days ago. Please, tell me that you found out some useful information about these bandits, says the Baron.

Male Human level 2 Ranger

I respectfully greet the baron and request the map (if it is not already laid out) and indicate the location of the encampment, along with a description of the base including the boats. I also show the note gathered from the 5-man party that left.

Male Elf Alchemist/ Level 1

Marty takes out of a bag the head of the bandit he cut off and showed it to the Baron, not saying a whole lot.

Out of game: Somebody else can do the talking, my charisma sucks, don't feel like bluffing about our mishap and failing. Hopefully actions speak louder than words.

Perception check to see the Baron's reaction to the products presented and Von's presentation:

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

I believe I can gather the forces necessary to deal with the bandit encampment, do you have a description of the Darlath Gur? or an idea of where he is?

The baron does seem pleased with your successes so far, and shows no indication that he believes you to be involved in the attack on the construction site.

Male Elf Alchemist/ Level 1

"Negative, only the instructions on the note."

Male Human Commander of Elithas Garrison

After an akward silence, Sir Villiam speaks up In order for the bandits to actually be destroyed we need to prevent them from escaping we need to cut off all their modes of transportation. My men can prevent escape by land, but they cannot stop them using those boats. If you are willing to disable the boats, you will be hansomely rewarded.

The seneschal then returns with the money the baron agreed to pay you for your services.

Male Elf Alchemist/ Level 1

"I offer my services to this task. My talents should suffice in disabling such vessels. Your generosity is much appreciated."

Marty takes the 180 gold from the seneschal, bows his head to the Baron and takes his leave, after first asking for a map to study. He tells the group where he will be while he formulates a game plan.

Edit: Marty takes the time to ask the Baron how much he is willing to offer for this more complex and more dangerous mission. Tiny salary may result in negotiations.

I shall remain silent in the mean time. Nodding as Marty offers his services.

Perception
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

You will each receive 300 gold if non of the bandits escape, 200 gold if some escape. We will be launching our attack at dawn the day after tomorrow.

Male Elf Alchemist/ Level 1

Dr. McFly requests the Baron provide an additional 200gp to the group for the preparatory materials to be used in dismantling the boats, so that it doesn't have to come out of our reward money. Dr. McFly insists that the rate of return of the investment will be minimum ten-fold on economic savings from the potential bandit raids on his lands.

-> This would be the negotiation I was referring to.

Male Human Cleric Lvl 1

Borator while present for most of the deliberations seems distracted his thoughts on somthing else. However upon seeing Dr. McFly enter into a diplomatic exchange with the baron he steps in to back him up. "The dangers associated with this group of raiders are greater then you know" he states. "There is somthing else at work here as well..." Borator trails off and is lost in thought once again.

Diplomacy 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

His argument however does not flow smoothly or formulate as well as he would have liked and he is unsure if the baron is convinced.

You will be provided 100 gold in material costs.

Male Elf Alchemist/ Level 1

Dr. McFly graciously accepts the 100gp from the Baron, clearly understanding that his charisma won't get anything more from the baron.

Outside of the Baron's chambers, Marty requests from the group 50gp of the 100gp assigned for materials. He explains it will be used in his plans for dismantling the boats. The other 50gp can go to group loot.

Male Human level 2 Ranger

Vonamir agrees to the Doctor's proposal. But upon leaving, he asks the Cleric what he meant during the meeting with the baron.

Male Human Cleric Lvl 1

"Im not sure Vonamir" Borator replies sincerly. "I just have a feeling we are getting ourselves into the middle of somthing big"

Male Elf Alchemist/ Level 1

In the morning, Marty shares with the group his plan for boat dismantling:

"My plan is quite simple, gentlemen. I propose that we sneak as close to the dock as we possibly can, preferably getting ourselves between the boats and the bandits. A distraction may be used if necessary. Once this has been established, I will start chucking my bombs at the boats, lighting them on fire in the process (hence why we need to be close). If we notice bandits starting to flee in boats, I have something prepared to intercept them at range."

Marty takes out three Skyfire Rockets from his backpack

"These fireworks also happen to work well as a one-use tube launching rocket device, causing fire upon impact, as well as blinding or deafening those attempting to sail away in the boat. Either way, it should incapacitate the boat and/or the people in it long enough to sink it."

Marty turns to the group

"While I run around blowing up boats, I need Vonamir to cover me at range and the melee to help keep the bandits off of me. Marty pauses for a moment and looks at the group "Unless, of course, one of you has a better idea. I checked the market for jars of termites but was unable to find any."

Half-Elf 2 Rogue

Sorry for marked absence, I get what Ormsby was saying about this whole life thing- I promise I will endeavor to check this thing 2x daily! - Yes, I attended the tea Party, yes I agree to everything thus far.

We still have 50gp left over- might I suggest using a small amount to pay rent on a place where we can call our own. Clearly we are going to be working together in the near future, and as long as we are stuck- we may as well make the best of it.

Additionally, I think I can provide some...Fun for our upcoming exploration- if you will allow me to take 40 of the 50 remaining gold, I will get us a place to stay as well as a few supplies to turn the tides in our favour when we assult their base.

The extra 10 can either go to our stash, or be split up amoung us- i recommend the stash.

I propose all this when Marty makes his proposition- group input would be welcome before I continue!

Male Human level 2 Ranger

"Bombs and Skyrockets? Crazy and bizarre methods....absolutely brilliant! I expect nothing less from the Doctor. Will 3 suffice for the 5 boats?"
Vonamir also inquires if he can help get fire arrows as a fall-back plan...just in case worse comes to worse

"Master Half-Elf, I am thankful for both the place you are seeking and 'fun' you have planned to supply. Any aid I can provide, I shall be more than willing to help"

Vonamir adds to the plan discussion:
"We should coordinate with the Baron's assault force. Either Setting the boats on fire just before his assault to distract the bandits or just after to burn the ships while they're busy defending against the Baron's troops."

The group departs in the morning and after travelling for a few hours, you get the feeling that you are being watched. That feeling suddenly hits you while you are passing through one of the small forests (by small around several sq km) on your way to the campsite. You can see the small cloud of dust being kicked up by the baron's soldiers marching about an hour behind you.

Male Elf Alchemist/ Level 1
Vonamir wrote:

I only had the night to craft as much as I could, pretty lucky to pump three out. The rockets are for long range targets, I'm hoping to get up close and personal for most of them (I have 6 bombs per day). The fire arrows are more than welcome!

@Tasyn: I'm a firm believer in fun..... Have at it!

Male Elf Alchemist/ Level 1

I mention to the group that I am being watched, making me feel uncomfortable.

Male Human Cleric Lvl 1

Borator turns his head back and glances at the dust cloud looming in the distance behind them. Armies while certainly powerful have a major disadvantage he realizes. They make thier presence obtusely known to everyone within miles. "And we are probably going to walk head first into whoever sees them" he thinks to himself. The others dont seem to mind being the vangaurd though and the cleric is glad for thier company. Vonamir is an amazing shot and the half elf has a knack for getting things, he eyes Tasyn's backpack wondering what the rogue might have bought for thier journey.

Ahead of him Dr. McFly mentions something about feeling uneasy. Borator gives the elf a puzzled look his hand instinctivly going to his scythe.

Male Human level 2 Ranger

"Damn....If the bandits notice the army, we loose the chance to get into position without running into much resistance....as well as the element of surprise. We should quicken our pace and perhaps head off the road" Vonamir cautions

With the unease of both the Doctor and the Cleric, Vonamir holds his bow, along with an arrow in his left hand for quick action

Half-Elf 2 Rogue
Vonamir wrote:

Hell, we might even lose the chance.

I do agree though, We must get there before the army does. If their group is truly large enough to warrant this kind of army, I may suggest allowing me to infiltrate their command tent dressed as a member of their group, then exploding from within.

As 'one of them' I can litter bear traps around the camp jangles the mass of traps on my back and sneak into their command tent. At least one of us is then guaranteed surprise, and if we hurry we can all make it in time to plan a better assault.

Disguise Self (Add anything extra you want, because being a bandit cant be hard, and I used to be a bandit)
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

You keep travelling and still occasionally get the feeling that you are being watched until you pause for a mid-day meal when suddenly you are attacked by a trio of wild dogs. They charge out of the grass at you going for the alchemist, ranger and cleric.

attacks:
attack on alchemist 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 51d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Attack on ranger 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 121d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Attack on cleric 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 51d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

The dogs charge but fail to accomplish anything.

Initiative
Barator 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16
Dr McFly 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Tasyn 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Vonamir 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Dogs 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

And that is a post I never want to do on a phone again.

Male Elf Alchemist/ Level 1

For my action when it turns up I pop a mutagen and draw my rapier.(Dex- Str would be better but I must prepare the night before). For my subsequent actions I will engage a dog with my rapier.

Key notes:

AC:19, rapier 1d6 (18-20) x2 crit
Wis: 9
Length: 10 mins

Thankfully, I'm not completely useless in melee.

Male Human Cleric Lvl 1

My action this round: Draw scythe

Male Human level 2 Ranger

On my Turn; 5-foot step back and shoot dog that attacked me
Hit: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Half-Elf 2 Rogue

I'll Draw Ma Sword.

In the inital panic after the dogs charge, everyone scrambles for their weapons, the ranger managing to get a snap shot off at the dog attacking him, burying the arrow a good inch into the dog's shoulder. The dogs continue to attack the 3 people

dog attacks:
at Barator 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 181d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
at Dr McFly 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 171d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
at Vonamir 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 111d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

The dog attacking Barator grabs his leg and rips a chunk out of the meat of his upper leg, he then proceeds to attempt to trip barator 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 but fails miserably.

Male Elf Alchemist/ Level 1

When my turns rolls around, I take a swing at the dog attacking me:

1d20 ⇒ 13 for 1d6 ⇒ 2 damage.
