A Village Tale (Inactive)

Game Master GenThunderfist

Wizards and Knights may keep the country running smoothly, keep the dragons at bay, save the heir-apparent, and flush out those Giant Rat infestations; but what about the unsung heroes who toil daily to aid our greatest warriors, feed the largest cities, and run the loveliest little taverns, what of the Village Tale?

The village of Bastrop is a recent settlement only having come about 10 years prior. In that time it has grown into a small farming community, with room for ample growth. It is set on the cross roads of two notable trade routes, and it is rumored that the mountain to the south of town may make a hearty source of iron which could cause a booming growth of the small town. To the east is a small forest, which one of the trade routes cuts through. To the west, and far off in the distance, the glorious city of Rigald can be seen on the horizon. To the North there isn't much of note besides the other trade route, which eventually winds it's way through the Frigid Forest to Fraustvale, a small logging town. Many would call this village "idyllic".

Currently Bastrop has a population of only 20, most of which are the various farmers and their respective families. The "leader" of Bastrop is Samuel Greyson, an aged man who once ran a very successful farm before handing it over to his children. Many of the townsfolk look to him for help and advice, although he has no "official" title or political clout. Samuel took it upon himself to find able bodied men and women who were willing to spend some of their time in order to help the townsfolk.

This is where you all come in, Samuel has approached all of you for one reason or another, and you have all agreed to help form a hodge-podge sort of Town Watch. Besides what you may do for a living (running a smithy, apothecary shop, farming, etc.) your "job" is to help the Townsfolk solve some of their more pressing concerns, and protect them if the need ever arise.

Does Bastrop become the gleaming jewel that it stands to become, or wither away into the tomes of history? It's all up to you, in this simple Village Tale.
