"Those cups and bowls could flesh out your tea set Ery."
The gruff ranger says as he takes in the cave.

The paintings show how to walk the path to physical perfection, which would indeed suggest the place is dedicated to Irori. You find nothing else of interest in the cave while inspecting it.
You suddenly notice that Hokama, Atmar and the drovers have started heading toward the ledges with a zombie-like look in their eyes. As you exit the lower cave the eerie, forlorn song you heard before causes you to experience an intense feeling of loneliness.
Will saves please!

"Path of purity hmm? I guess we'll find out once we get up there."
Locke looks at the NPCs faces for a second.
"Hey, those guys are acting weird, what's gotten into them?"
Will?: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
That's not good...
Something was pulsing into Locke's mind, causing Locke to hold head with both hands, slowly shaking.
"Something....is wrong here...."

Will Save(+2 is if its Enchantment based): 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 5 + 2 = 15
Ery steps back to join the others, he approaches from behind Tereze then pauses. A sense of bleak loneliness washes over him... Will he be able to shrug it off?

Will save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Urbar, hearing the song, feels just like he always feels. The feeling of something missing in his life.
Until level 4! Then we will receive his long awaited cute little pet! ;P

Fiona looks around as the music starts to play, her eyes beginning to tear as she thinks about her lonely life, being in the middle of a desert so far away from any family or friends.

Like Hokama and co, you all start walking toward the ledges while fascinated by the song. As you reach the ledges the song stops, but you don't snap out of your daze just yet. A feral woman with tattered wings on her back and taloned limbs flies down from the statue's mouth and grabs Atmar, who doesn't resist her.
You snap out of your fascination just as you see the feral woman and Atmar enter the statue's mouth. While you wonder what the heck just happened, another feral woman comes flying down.

"Oh...Well...huh. Oh look! A harpy-thing!"
Ery pulls back on his longbow and lets fly an arrow. "Why I keep trying to be an archer, we'll never know..."

Crit failure: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
...Ery sighs, letting his bow arm drop to his side in mild disappointment. "Why do you all let me do these things?"

Urbar looks up and curses.
"I am not going up there whilst that thing is flying."
He states as he draws both his swords.

Tereze pulls out her sling and starts it whirling.

Gwen suddenly shakes loose the enchantment that seemed to have snared her and curses as she sees Atmar dragged into the mouth of the statue. "Dammit, Ery was right! He will never let us live this one down... Keep that thing away from me! I'm going after Atmar!" She will immediately begin to climb the ledge and move along as quickly as she can!
Climb: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Yikes! That was close... Not sure if I'll push my luck next round with the Acrobatics check... lol

StephNyan |

@Gwen: I assume the ledges are zigzaggy and will let you rise in altitude at half speed as you move with successful checks.
@Ery & Tereze: Keep the range of your weapons in mind. Any attack at more than this distance is penalized for range. Beyond this range, the attack takes a cumulative –2 penalty for each full range increment (or fraction thereof) of distance to the target. For example, a dagger (with a range of 10 feet) thrown at a target that is 25 feet away would incur a –4 penalty. A thrown weapon has a maximum range of five range increments. A projectile weapon can shoot to 10 range increments.
Several projectiles are launched into the sky, but all miss the feral woman.
While some of you wait on the ground, Gwendallyn starts moving up the ledges.
The feral woman descends up to a height of 70 feet.
Round 2:
Fiona
Eryzule
Tereze
Gwendallyn (30 feet up)
Urbar
Locke
Feral woman (70 feet up)

Urbar waits to see if the feral woman moves down more.
Delaying

Gwen continues moving up, drawing out her dan-bong as she moves. She keeps her body ready to react to the feral, winged creature if it should come after her...

Readied Action Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Wasn't sure if you'd need another Acrobatics check, but I'll go ahead and post one just in case you do need it.

"One more try, why not?"
Ery fires off another arrow.
Arrow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

"Why do I continue to do this?"
Ery asks, shouting up to Gwen.

![]() |

Gwen cringes as a crossbow bolt suddenly glances off the stone next to her face. She shouts back down to Ery. "I don't know, but please don't shoot me in the butt!"

![]() |

"Muscles, I'd never tarnish that firm bum of yours."
Ery shouted back playfully.

![]() |

"Ery! It's up! Look where you shoot!"
Urbar says as he gives the elf an angry look.

![]() |

Man forgot all about Range Increments... Too long since I've used Ranged Weapons...
Sling - Range: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 - 2 = 19
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
I said give him back! Tereze announces as she launches another stone

StephNyan |

A couple more projectiles are shot at the feral woman. Most miss, but Tereze's stone hits its target.
"If you are flying using wings and you take damage while flying, you must make a DC 10 Fly check to avoid losing 10 feet of altitude."
If you wonder why I'm not rolling: auto-succeed.
Urbar delays while watching the feral woman, and Fiona continues to be lost in saddening thoughts.
Gwendallyn moves a bit higher and readies an attack versus the feral woman.
Morningstar: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19 Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
The woman grins as she looks at Gwendallyn and moves toward her. While flying the woman's morningstar hits Gwendallyn in her chest, knocking the air out of Gwendallyn and causing the readied attack to miss.
Fly; Turn greater than 45° by spending 5 feet of movement: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32
The feral woman continues to move after the attack, making a 90 degree turn and ending up just 5 feet outside Gwendallyn's reach.
Round 3:
Fiona
Eryzule
Tereze
Gwendallyn 15/21HP (45 feet up)
Urbar
Locke
Feral woman -3HP (45 feet up; 5 feet outside Gwendallyn's reach)

![]() |
As Gwen cries out after the feral woman's attack hits her in the chest, Fiona shakes out of her stupor. She moves closer to the wall and begins to cast a spell, hoping to take the woman out.
Fiona begins to cast Sleep.

![]() |

I'm just glad that Nat 20 was on the Fly check!
Gwen coughs painfully and gasps as she tries to regain her breath, glaring at the feral woman just outside of her reach. "Come closer and I'll rip those wings from your back. See how well you fly then!" She prepares to grab hold of the winged woman if she approaches again...
Grapple: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
Standard Action - Grapple the creature as soon as it comes within reach.
Any appropriate knowledge checks to identify it?

![]() |

Seeing the creature come down a bit Urbar takes a good look and tries to remember seeing something like it.
"Gwen are you getting that thing down here? I'm not climbing up with that thing in the air!"

"Damn thing..."
Bringing his hands to his mouth, Ery projects a silent scream at the harpy.
Ear-Piercing Scream (Fort Save 14 or deaf): 1d6 ⇒ 4

She would have, it has a short 30 ft range though...

Sling: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Terese fires another stone, but distracted by her frind's pain it goes wide.
Hey, Ugly. Can you only pick on defenseless women and Children? Are you too much of a hag to have your own child? Come here and face me and prove you are a real woman!

StephNyan |

Locke consumes an extract of true strike, while Fiona starts casting sleep, and Gwendallyn readies a grapple for the feral woman.
Urbar tries to identify the creature, but has no idea what it is.
Fort: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Ery projects a silent scream that hurts and deafens its target. Tereze has less luck. Her arrow's swept aside by a gust of wind.
The feral woman flies 5 feet closer to Gwendallyn and avoids getting grappled by the brawler. She then attacks Gwendallyn twice with her morningstar and with two of her talons.
Morningstar: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Morningstar: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Talon: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21 Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Gwendallyn dodges the first attack, but is hit when the woman swings her morningstar up again. Momentarily dazed, Gwendallyn doesn't sees the creature's two talons before they rip her open.
--- Round 4 ---
Will: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Fiona's sleep spell goes off, but it has no effect on the feral woman.
Round 4:

Gwendallyn 4/21HP (45 feet up)
Urbar
Locke
Feral woman -7HP (45 feet up; Deafened)

"Gwen, Get down here!" Ery shouts, unable to reach his companion.
The elf has no idea what to do further and tries to think on weakness he can exploit...
Know. Arcana for Harpy stuff that may be useful: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Not able to come up with anything, the elf fires off another arrow...
atk: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Once again...a blind shot.
"Damn it..."

Locke produces an orb that is flung straight at the harpy's face.

Gwen gasps as the feral woman tears into her body with Morningstar and claws. She reels away from the assault and begins making her way back down towards her companions, blood pouring freely from the terrible gashes. "That was a terrible idea, Ery! Why did you tell me to go up there?"
Ouch! Using the Withdraw action to get as close to the ground as possible.

![]() |

Urbar sheaths a sword and grabs his sling. He immediately reloads it.
"The whole reason I didn't go up there..."

![]() |

"I have no idea, Muscles. I pictured you riding a harpy...what happened was not that."
The elf gives a small shrug, "I'll heal you, I promise."

![]() |

Sling: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Once more Tereze launches a stone from her sling.

![]() |

Ah yes... I see... I'll change that into dropping both weapons then and grabbing/reloading the sling.

![]() |
As Gwen takes a few additional hits and begins bleeding profusely, Fiona's stress levels rise. Unable to reach the woman with her magic, she decides to revert to more mundane means. She pulls out her crossbow, loads it and fires at the woman flying above, hitting her straight in the chest.
