Hiya.
Just got the ROE PDF and my brain is making this more complicated than it needs to be probably because the single, dual, and multi gate from the playtest confused me too.
What's the difference between a Lv 5 Dual Gate Kinetic and a Lv 5 Single Gate Kinetic that Forks the Path? Is it just trading a feat in a second element for a junction?
Aside from "Prerequisites: exactly one kinetic element" for feats, is the term "Gate" just flavor after character creation?
TIA

Page 18 lists gate junctions, selecting an impulse junction is an option there. So it's an option to dual gates.
A single gate water kineticists who forks wood at 5 and a dual gate water/wood who expands water and picks up an impulse junction at 5 would have identical elemental options (though obviously their specific impulses would be different).

The way to think of this is:
- You start with one element.
- Any time you get the chance to add another element and you choose not to, you get a junction.
- At character generation the junction you get is always the impulse junction.
- At level 5, 9, 13, and 17 you may select the impulse, critical, resistance, aura, or skill junction for any of your elements.
So a level 1 metal kineticist who forks to wood at 5 will have the metal impulse junction.
A level 1 metal/wood kineticist who expands the gate can select any one of the 5 junctions for metal or wood.
So if hypothetically you don't care for the impulse junction of your element, it's better to start dual gate and get the junction you want at 5th.
