Spellbook costs?

Rules Questions

I know there are costs associated when buying spellbooks with spells inscribed already (as in Ultimate Magic)-- they do not seem to match up with buying scrolls of all the spells.

Does anyone know how to figure costs for something like this?

You do not need to buy scrolls to buy spells. On CRB p219 it explains how you can purchase the spell from another wizard by learning the spell from his spellbook and then writing it into your book.

The cost is usually Spell Level^2*10 (cost to write) +Spell Level^2*5 (fee to the other wizard). This can be shortened to Spell Level^2*15.

That's spell level squared right?

They don't because they assumed that the spells were put in by the wizard learning them, not by shopping for scrolls.

Yes, that is spell Level squared. CRB p219 provides a chart instead but the math behind the chart is SL^2*10gp

Cost to inscribe is L^2*10, and they suggest you can probably "typically" get access to a spellbook enough to copy a spell for half that, so L^2*15 total. If you are getting more than a few spells, the blessed book is TOTALLY worth it.
