And no I am not talking PVP of world of warcraft, think more along the lines of moral dillemas and roleplaying opportunities that they can provide...
This is where conflict arise yet gives roleplay and interesting stories....this is why if too protect the earth superman would team up with lex luthor, vs say braniac, batman would rather not but push comes too shove will do so (making sure he bars luthors power)
Now then in I Idylicc setting all players wishing the same thing...then this can actually work, if they all put aside there differences..or truly wish too roleplay......and gain power within there factions..
my charcter a CN ninja...banished/marked for death from a order of assassains*, because she saved one man she thought unworthy of execution**, meanwhile a member of a dark cult that is heavily entertwined with said order(*actually is part of it unbeknowest of my charcter) would actually seek her out..too further his own power...a LE sorcerer..that knowing she is marked for sacrafice!....(little crumb left by dm too sorcerer, but will keep as a out of my charcter's knowledge)
Why would a trained ninja/assassin leaves a mark unharmed but she has here reasons, because was bruttally mistreated by men that all shared a common tatoo which they then marked her with with red hot iron into her shoulder. the brand...is a sacrificial brand (although she thinks It but a mark of a slave.) The slaver/mark** she saved, was kindly enough...he treated them as servents...even marrying one and making her his wife. While she tracked and watched she noted one day when purchased a group of slaves he was cruel too only one ,a man bearing the tatoo She only remembered In horrible recollections... before he died cried out lichborn will always rise.
She tried too warn the man...that he was marked..by a order she thought was righteous even in its methods.....any man that would stand against those that decimated her village, that raped and murdered was worth saving .Too no avail that night his entire family, wife, child were slain, including every servant or slave...
She saw the brand on both the Man, and the womans shoulder..the man she was orderd too be kill..and shuddered A freeman, but a slave nonetheless, this is what I am, a plaything, discarded, or butchered...I will find these lichborn and carve there profane emblem out of this world.
this is a exerpt from or time roleplaying together as conflicting players.....A member of said order saw my disqust, knowing my hate...saw me as a tool too make his own rise in power, after all a sacrafice would never be seen as a instrument of anothers hand...

There is a difference between PC conflict and Player vs Player. PC conflict is good when both players are in on it and having fun.
I agree.
In one of my most successful campaigns as a DM, one PC was a little girl, while the other two PCs were young adults. The campaign wound up having several instances of player conflict.
In one instance, the young woman tried to force the child to take a bath, which the child refused. This resulted in actual combat rounds wherein the young woman tried to grapple the child into the water, but ultimately failed.
In another instance, the party was exploring a very creepy haunted house when the two adults came across a scene where ghosts were re-enacting a brutal rape. They managed to keep the child from the room so that she wouldn't have to see it. (The child's player actually did not know what was in the room, or why the other two players were trying to keep her out, since that information was given to the adults' players via written note.)
The party conflict in the campaign, both the instance that actually involved combat rounds and the one that didn't, added a great deal to the game. But it was never player versus player. It was always character versus character. And even then, none of the characters involved were motivated by antagonism towards the other characters.
