The archetype loses the ability to wear light armor (as well as ignoring the arcane spell failure) yet still retains the ability that grants them medium armor proficiency at 7th level.
Is this an oversight? It seems weird that they would suddenly become able to cast spells in, and wear, medium armor but still be clueless in light.

It seems like it's meant to replace all three armor class features, but they forgot to note what each class feature replaces. If it doesn't, it should probably at least downstep the progression to Light armor at level 7 and medium at level 13 with no heavy armor progression. The main problem then would be that medium armor denies you Canny Defense and thus isn't much of an upgrade, so I imagine Canny defense is meant to replace your armor progression.
