Early Printing Press in Golarion?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Liberty's Edge

I don't think I have seen this mentioned anywhere. I have not yet been able to pick up the hardcover CS so I imagine the answer could be in there.

Has the printing press been invented on Golarion?

The gazetteer mentions broadsheets and chapbooks so I assume the answer is yes.

I have no practical need to know. If it does come up in my home campaigns I would probably include it, based on the info I have.

Just mostly curious if this was the default assumption or not. Not a big deal either way.

Yes, there are printing presses according to the PFCS, but they're "terrifyingly expensive" to build and maintain, supposedly.

Yup; they're also still mostly regional things. There are printing presses in a few nations, but not all over the place.

I love how this adds to Golarion's worldly cultures.

After all, the Chinese were using moveable-type-presses about 400 years before Gutenberg. I've seen some of the books in person, they are very intricate, beautiful designs.

yet another small detail that has nothing to do with killing stuff that is making me love golarion more and more every day. i may get to let my homebrew simmer for a bit while i cook with this world :)

Thanks James. When did they first appear in Avistan/Garund?
