Eamch keeps watch by the door, making sure nothing sneaks up on the group while they are searching.
"Can we harm such things?" Unsure if it will do anything, Eamch nonetheless hurls a dart at one of the shadowy forms.
To hit with Dart 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22, damage 1d4 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 + 2 = 5 piercing.
Eamch hurls a dart at the remaining mass.
To hit 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18, damage, 1d4 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 2 = 7
As he watches the bear tear into the mass, Eamch targets the split off mass.
To hit with Dart 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6, Damage 1d4 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 2 = 6 piercing. Alas, the dart goes wide as he tries to avoid accidently hitting his own people.
"What is...?"
Eamch doesn't finish the sentence, realizing the time for questions will be later. Instead, he draws a dart and sends it hurtling at the blackness. No sense risking an axe when that thing might ruin it! he thinks.
To hit with Dart 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14, Damage 1d4 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 2 = 8 piercing.

"Well then, I hope you'll let me take this precaution." He pulls his hemp rope out of his pack. "In case there are fumes or something that keeps you from retreating if necessary, we can get you out of there." He moves to tie the rope around Karhu's waist. Unless Karhu stops him, he'll tie the rope so it hangs from Karhu's back. He'll look for something to brace his foot in case the rope gets jerked.
"Agreed. If we run out of other options of progress, we can return here and deal with it."
Before moving on, Eamch collects his darts and axe that he'd thrown. He follows behind the others, making sure no one or nothing is coming up from behind them.
As the others case the room, Eamch turns back the way they came, blocking the doorway and keeping a careful watch while the team does their search.
Eamch looks confused as the spiders start casting, but it doesn't change his response. He gives Aletta at the door a sideways glance and asks Aletta and asks "Back or forward?" Not wanting to commit to melee until he knows their strategy, he tries another distant attack.
Throwing a dart this time at the closest one.
To hit 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18, damage 1d4 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 2 = 6
Seeing the others reactions to the door opening, Eamch pulls up a handaxe. When Karhu illuminates them, he hurls an axe at one of the spiders.
To hit 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14, damage 1d6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 + 2 = 10.
Talk to you on the other side of it.
Eamch grunts in approval as he seems Karhu watching the group's back.
He follows Aletta as she moves in to open even more doors.
Eamch listens to the others speaking. When someone starts to walk away, Eamch says "We should try to stay together. If someone can see, we should follow them." That being said, he'll slowly start after the sound of Aletta.
For PbP, I find block tends to work the best.
Eamch raises his shield, pressing his forehead to the back of it. He listens intently for any sounds beyond that of his allies. He turns slowly, saying nothing, feeling vulnerable without his second favorite sense.
Wisdom save 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Gulp.
Not to be distracted by tricks, Eamch doesn't fumble for a light source. Instead, he lets his gaze get used to the sudden darkness, waiting for his darkvision to adjust.
As the others move towards the first door to check it out, Eamch follows slowly. He readies his shield, but leaves his weapons stowed for now.
Rather than focusing on the door, Eamch turns and watches the rest of the hallway, on guard against something coming out of one of them trying to take them unaware.
Eamch looks back at the pack animals, double checking that they are secure and still have food and water. Seeing that one has deposited a pile of dung, Eamch reaches into his pouch. He flicks a silver coin towards Jean-Louis and says "Sorry about the mess." He then follows Aletta.
"Yes, we do seem firmly sequestered with you here now." Eamch says, looking back at the mist. "The more we know about the nature of this curse, the better our chance of getting to the bottom of it."
Eamch quietly claps Savas on the shoulder with a faint smile. It is the most approval they've seen from the dwarf in their time traveling together.
He looks expectantly to their "host," nodding along with all of Aletta's questions, at least until she asks about the wine.
Eamch reluctantly pulls up his pouch. "Ten gold on my friend Savas to win the whole fight." He looks around again after setting out the gold. This would be weird for a noble house on the hill in the city, much less wherever we are now...
Eamch grimaces. "Perhaps there is some purpose to it. But there's nothing saying it is a good purpose." He looks at the mist dubiously. "I'd say braving the mist should be our last resort. If someone does live here, maybe they can point us to a safe way back to the road."
He sets to taking care of the pack animals. "Won't due to have them wrecking the place while we are trying to figure this out." He ties the pack animals to something to keep them from wandering. He sets out food and water for them. Then, armed and armored, he looks to the others.
"Who wants to lead the way?" He asks with a shrug. He takes a couple of steps towards the open double doors, indicating he's willing if no one else is.
"Well, unless this fancy room is in Greyhawk and we have somehow finished our journey, I think we need to find our way out of here. Give me a couple of minutes."
With a heavy sigh, Eamch rises to his feet and begins to don his armor.
Do we have our gear? Are the pack animals with us here?
Oooh! A blacklisted DM! Forbidden fruit is so much sweeter! I am really looking forward to it now!
Savas Vranos wrote: I did pick up the thieves tools proficiency, so we've got that covered in case we end up not having a rogue. And if we don't have a rogue, I have sturdy boots to open locked doors and a lot of hit points to disarm traps.
I've finished buying stuff, so I think Eamch is ready to go.
Here's what I'm thinking for my dwarven fighter. He's almost done; I need to finish gear and check my numbers.
Hit points 2d10 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5 Gah. Looks like it is average hit points.
Eamch will continue to hold the door. Strength check 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
"Myron, a potion if you have one!"
RL always comes first, especially health. I hope you are better soon. Thank you for dropping in to let us know. I hope we get to cross paths here again.
I hope you're feeling better!
Regarding your earlier question about the legacy items... I'm not sure bone nunchuku are fitting with Eamch's style, but perhaps if they were reskinned (no pun intended)? Or another similar weapon? Part of the style I envision for Eamch is that he appears to be an unarmed fop. So if it were something he could load in a wrist sheathe or something, that might be a better match.
At Taurven's comment about them being bounty hunters, Eamch huffs. Eamch too has had some experience with bounty hunters but has never been impressed. Maybe they'll surprise him and be effective, but probably not. He sizes up the one that struck Gargamel and then flings razor sharp shurikens at him.
Exploit Weakness, 1d20 + 5 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 5 + 10 = 27 vs. DC 10+CR. If successful, Eamch gets +2 on attack rolls and ignores DR. Rolls below assume success.
Flurry of Shurikens
To hit 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 12 + 2 + 1 - 2 = 18, damage 1d2 + 6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 4 + 1 = 13
To hit 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 12 + 2 + 1 - 2 = 16, damage 1d2 + 6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 4 + 1 = 13
To hit 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 7 + 2 + 1 - 2 = 12, damage 1d2 + 6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 4 + 1 = 13
To hit 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 7 + 2 + 1 - 2 = 26, damage 1d2 + 6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 4 + 1 = 13
Eamch watches the elven exchange with interest. While he doesn't understand the elven language, he does understand the language of love. He smiles and nods knowingly at Gargamel. Previously he'd thought it would be in bad taste to try and get lucky during a mission with such high gravity, but now that Gargamel has shown otherwise, Eamch's eye wander towards some of the otherwordly females with a new interest.
Hey, welcome to the group!
Totally understandable. I am back to work today after taking time off to move, and everything is in chaos. Should be back to normal for me in a few days.
He looks at Gargamel when he answers Karla. "Very well. I must admit it is all very strange to me here, and I am not good with directions when there's not streets and taverns signs to guide me. Let's see if we can figure out where the keys lead."
Eamch follows along after a long look at the destruction of the lab. They know all about these strange threats. They know best.
Eamch will follow last so he doesn't obscure any tracks for the others, and to keep a watch behind them since drow are so sneaky.
So, Eamch actually wasn't killing the tiefling; he was subduing him with a grapple and pin. If someone wanted to coupe de grace him while he was restrained, they could have. Did we want a prisoner? Especially since we just killed the drow woman we were sent to find?
With a powerful hand latched onto the tiefling, Eamch tries to force the foe into a lock that will make him nearly helpless.
Maintain grapple 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (17) + 16 = 33
Attempt pin 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (14) + 16 = 30
Eamch watches as the others start directing their attentions at the drow female. He springs into action and runs forward, closing with the tiefling in a flash and latching onto him with his powerful grip.
Improved Grapple 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (17) + 16 = 33
Unable to see the others and not wanting to move too soon in case the spellcasters have... "stuff" to do to start the engagement, Eamch waits on one of the others to act before doing anything himself.
"An excellent idea. Where or how do we hide and watch?"
Perception 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (2) + 18 = 20
"Well, I think we should definitely take that with us." he says, pointing at the item that Karla found. "And we should take it with us through there." he adds, pointing to the hidden passage she also discovered.
"I agree it should be destroyed. Doing so will tip our hand that we are present, though. Should we do it as we leave this place? Or do we think they already know were here because of the creatures we've killed?"
Eamch will partake as well, passing the bottle back after a slightly too long draw. He'll mill around, checking down the passages that come into the room, hoping to notice any trouble heading their way before the trouble notices them.
Eamch stands out of the way while Karla works on the patterns, but he's skeptical. "Really? That means something to you? Okay... Where to next, then?"
"Unless those scuff marks mean something to you, why don't we continue south."

Thanks for dropping in to let us know. I hope things turn up for you soon. Whatever works for you.
