Ranger Archetypes, Camouflage, and HiPS

So many of the Ranger Archetypes replace the Camouflage ability gained at level 12. Now I have my own view of how Camouflage and HiPS work in conjunction for the Ranger and according to that view I have an idea of how HiPS would work for the Ranger without the presence of Camouflage but I am hopping to get some official input on how this would work.

I have seen a partial answer dedicated to one Ranger Archetype located in the link below.

Camouflage with the Infiltrator Archetype.

This partial explanation doesn't explain how some of the other Archetypes will affect Camouflage and how HiPS works on its own without Camouflage.

If you don't have time to answer this question as a whole than I am primarily asking about the new Fetchling Ranger Archetype and how Camouflage and HiPS work with that class as Camouflage is traded for Darksight.

.....

How I think this would work. In the Assassin and Shadowdancer versions of the ability HiPS does two things: 1. It negates the need for cover/concealment and 2. It allows Stealth even when being observed. For the Ranger these two things are separated between Camouflage and HiPS. My view was that HiPS would still work in the Favored Terrains but the Ranger would still require Cover/Concealment. However the Infiltrator explanation above made me unsure of that view.

I hope you are able to answer this for me. Thank you in advance if so.

Yes this is how it works.

How so, it has nothing to do with it? All that FAQ states is that when a Infiltrator uses adaptation to treat its current terrain as favorite terrain. That temporary favorite terrain functions as normal favorite terrain for the purposes of Camouflage and Hide in Plain Sight. Which imo was an unnecessary FAQ, but I suppose more clarification never hurts...

Edit "Clarification" Err sorry I was thinking of the Battle Scout's infiltration ability not the Infiltrator Archtype. For the purposes of the Infiltrator you gain the ability to benefit from your Camouflage and HiPS class abilities while using your alotment of 10 minute increments of Adaptation per day. So, while benifiting from the adaptation ability provided you may also use the other two abilities in whatever terrain you are in effectively treating it like favored terrain for these two class features and nothing else. You do not gain the actual numeric benifits of the Favored Terrain Class feature as it has been replaced.

If you were to play a combination of Archtypes where in which one of these abilities were replaced.

EG: Infiltrator/Beast Master. While using adaptation you would gain the benifits of HiPS, but not of Camouflage, because it has already been replaced by Strong Bond.

It just creates a strange dynamic where the Adaptation, in a way, becomes the Favored Terrain. So, when you are using the new ability you gain the use of the ability it replaced.

So, does a similar thing ever happen with abilities that replace camouflage? I am not saying I think it should, I am just asking the question.
