Noble Drow - Can they cast "normal" darkness

Rules Questions

Scarab Sages

Hi,
As every drow can cast darkness once a day

1/day—dancing lights, darkness, faerie fire

Can a noble drow cast it or they are "limited" to only cast deeper Darkness?

Constant—detect magic
At will—dancing lights, deeper darkness, faerie fire, feather fall, levitate
1/day—divine favor, dispel magic, suggestion (DC 14)

Dotting so I can come back and see the answer...

Also, if I may expand on the question....

If they are stuck with just Deeper version of Darkness, do they still qualify for Nightmare Fist feat line? Somehow I suspect this is the direction this was going (since I can't think of any other reason why someone would ask).

I'm going to have to say, no. They can't cast regular darkness.

If you look at the example drow nobles spell-like abilities in its stat block, darkness isn't one of them.

The GM can change out their SLA list, but the core version is stuck with deeper darkness.

They would still qualify for Nightmare Fist, as that just requires "the ability to create magical darkness".

However, they wouldn't qualify for Nightmare Weaver, which requires the ability to cast darkness. Note the italics. That means that they are talking about a spell, so the darkness spell is required. No other ability can meet the prerequisites. Not even deeper darkness.

And without the feats, there is still a good reason to ask. Creatures with darkvision (like drow) can see through the normal darkness spell just fine. However, deeper darkness prevents darkvision from working, so even drow can't see in it. Normal drow can see through their darkness spells just fine, but noble drow are blinded by their deeper darkness, just like everyone else is.
