...hehee, somehow this talk about white oppressors is indeed a bit weird, as Finns too were not particularly big on oppressing anyone except occasionally each others and Sami. And in US were also second-class together with Irish and Native Americans. And yeah, I am pale.
I have never read or heard about the Finns receiving poor treatment on emigrating here. Could you point out any good reads on it? Also, when did the Finns come here in large numbers? I would think 1880s-1920s like most everyone else.

I think Jack Chick's tracts have been helping to spread misinformation about a wide variety of topics over the years. Halloween is one of his favorites. Some evangelicals read them and immediately swallow his fictional "facts" hook, line, and sinker. David Skal wrote a great book called "Death Makes A Holiday" about Halloween and does a good job of addressing some of the ridiculous claims Chick makes.

Considering the price of gas, which though much lower than it was is still high, we should probably figure out everyone who needs a visit and then plot the most economical path to visit them all. And we also need a 'just in case it gets messy' kit for the trunk.
Hey, I've got the goods, man. I know a few people, we can get rolling in a couple of days. Time to break some kneecaps.

Just don't play "F*** THA POLICE." The cops there used to set up David Letterman-specific speed traps; you could go 100 mph in a 40 mph zone and they'd give you a friendly wave -- but Letterman would be pulled over, every day, going 40.5 mph. Apparently the first time he got pulled over, he tried to play the celebrity card, and they were somewhat underwhelmed...

I am sure many religions would happily wipe it off the face of the earth. The major obstacle is our Candy Vendors who would definitely object to its being suppressed. Aside from that, it is a shame that our culture is being stripped away bit by bit till we forget what was special about being alive. I remember making witches and ghosts from cut paper and decorating the classroom. I rememeber all the cool scary mystique that transformed my world into something wonderfully atmospheric. I am ashamed of this correct world that we live in. It hurts more than it fixes.

Sorry for the threadjack; I'm an infinite font of Eazy-E lyrics. Shared first name and all that. Probably shouldn't admit it in public. Maybe I should look for a 12-step program instead: "I have no power over the old-time gangsta-rap that gets stuck in my head from time to time."
Once upon a time, when the principal announced that "New Year, New Challenges" would be our school slogan one year, a colleague and I lobbied to change it to the less appropriate but far more accurate "Money, Cash, 'Ho's."

you do realize i was given an article 15 when i was in the army for playing NWA, which led to an incident, and me telling the full bird colonel hearing the case that the army wouldn't have this problem if they stopped recruiting klan members...

Honestly that is pretty funny. I almost got an Article 15 for threating to shoot a full bird colonel, but the base commander came down on my side after I explained that he tried to break a cordon during a nuclear upload. The colonel got the Article 15 instead. And there did seem to be a large number of Klan members when I was in.

I knew I had the wrong word... but was too dazed after work to recall it. A friend of mine became a speech pathologist and my brain just grabbed that word.
And of course I was just kidding, I deliberately misrepresented your point for humor's sake, but for some reason humor responded with, "Don't do me any more favors" and kicked me squarely in the groin.

Are you saying they believed that Halloween is a Christian holiday?I hope not...
In Germany the last few years christian churches reacted poorly to the rapidly growing trend to celebrate halloween, because they realized it is an old pagan hollyday and most kids celebrating "dont remember" the meaning of the following (christian) day (that probably has been put on that day by early european christians to make use of the traditional pagan hollyday)...
The word Halloween on the other hand is derived from the christian hollyday and stands for All Hallows Eve'
See what pagans can do? We create holidays that while fun now, had a totally different meaning hundreds of years ago.....
