Making a Prestige Class

I was sitting here at work without my books and was wondering if this wonderful Paizo community might could help. Does anyone know where a set of rules for creating a prestige class would be? Thanks in advance.

Or, to get more to the point, one of my players is looking for a Sage-type prestige class. We've already explored the Loremaster and he might take some levels in that, but it doesn't truly fit his character concept.

I don't recall seeing guidelines - though, of course, that doesn't mean they don't exist.

What I would do in your instance is find out what it is about the loremaster your player doesn't like; then work with him to make the class more to his liking. It might be as simple as adding some new lores to the table for him to select, or it could involve a near complete rewrite.

Either way, though, you'll have a happy player on your hands - and that's always a good thing.

Try looking in the Skirmisher Publishing Group book "Experts" or "Experts 3.5". They have a very good Sage npc class that your player may want to use. You can pick it up on Amazon, etc but eBay is less expensive.

I think Dragon #274 (August 2000), from when D&D 3.0 came out, had an article by Skip Williams on guidelines for prestige class creation in 3rd edition. I think it included the Mystic as an example.
