I had heard this series was coming, but hadn't realized it was released until I saw some reviews on YouTube. My only familiarity with the noir version of Spider-Man was from those animated Miles Morales movies. Nevertheless, being a fan of both Nicolas Cage and Brendan Gleeson, and someone who enjoys a good noir movie or series, I decided to give it a shot.
It was...entertaining. An overall straightforward plot, but with some nice twists. Some humor. Decent action sequences. Some solid performances, especially Brendan Gleeson as an Irish version of Silvermane. There was even a bit of body horror. The only thing I wish they'd done a bit different was to add in more CGI to liven up the fight sequences.
They gave you the choice of watching in either color or black & white. I chose the black & white, since I thought that went better with the noir theme.
Overall it was a fun little series.

They really should have just released it as two separate series, one color and one black and white. Instead, they wanted to include the gimmick of letting you pick color or black and white within the same series. Except, it seems to be a coin flip whether it will work or not.
On my own TV, upon starting an episode, it gives you both options but doesn't let you pick one or the other, it just goes to black and white by default. It says you can go to "Additional Options" mid-episode, but that doesn't exist either. And I'm apparently not the only one experiencing those issues by a long shot.
As it stands, I've been able to watch the first couple of episodes over at my dad's house. It's entertaining so far, but the frustration is not worth it. Amazon, stress-test your damned gimmicks, please and thank you!
