Could this work for PbP?

The basic premise is creating NPCs for a setting that I might use in a future game. Using a modify deadEarth character creation system to make it less deadly and boring.

Anyone could freely enter or leave the game at any point in time, but the game would be divded into a series of steps, so to make character creations more organise. The characters are recorded using google sheets and I will be keeping track of the numbers.

The main idea is to have a collaborative game of character and world building between players so that the world and characters are more connected than if 1 person try to write them.

I'm not familiar with deadEarth. Why use that system rather than the Pathfinder creation system?

Are you creating NPCs and players creating their PCs? Or are you suggesting the players create these NPCs and play them as PCs? And are you suggesting that when a player leaves, the PC stays behind for another player to use?
